Best for self-contained campers. There are no toilets, showers, or potable water at this Hipcamp.
90 acres of natural bushland with 300 meters of Mary River frontage. This is a great place for a base camp to explore the region. Campsites are nestled amongst trees. There's nothing here but peace and quiet, spacious sites. The banks of the river are quite high and there is limited access into the water. There are 2 boat ramps about 7 or 8 klms from the property. Arrive between midday and 2pm if possible so you can set up your camp. Don't forget to bring your insect repellent as you are in the bush and beside the river. We have also just built a shelter shed/camp kitchen have 1000 litre water pods. No rubbish bins at the camp so bring everything you need & remove everything you bring. - Dogs welcome. Due to past incidents, friendly, non -aggressive dogs only please. - Campfires permitted in designated areas when restrictions aren't in place - Free firewood, gather fallen timber from the land This is a quiet and safe bush setting in natural Australian bush. Mary River Bush Camp is set on 80 acres of natural bushland just 9 klms from the historic city of Maryborough. This is the perfect spot to rest and recover. There is a drop toilet available.

Google took me to opposite side..into a paddock coming in from Hervey Bay side.Dont trust directions. Wait for Host to send complete directions (which unfortunately he didnt) No communication directly from Host even though he had my phone. Track in is not maintained so with any rain quite boggy. The 3 sites are very close and could do with levelling. There's a permanent resident very close so not exactly private. Perched up on a cliff so not actually on the water. (Crocs anyway) Good tree canopy. Very disappointing but I guess you get what you pay for.

was great for the kids and plenty of space to set up camp and the kids to play and close to the boat ramp definitely enjoyed our stay

Lovely camp spot on the river Mary. Quiet and away from the town but close and easy enough to drive into town being 10 mins away. Self sufficiency is a must, but public toilets are 5 mins down the road. Great spot to kayak with a launch ramp just a few metres away from camp. Lovely atmosphere morning and Arvo time. Great views. Friendly owner and easy going. Would revisit another time!

We enjoyed the Mary River Bush Camp so much we extended our stay. It's a very peaceful spot. One thing to note though is there are no amenities, and I would recommend a mosquito net tent. The host was great and I honestly got a kick out of the old amenities and structures. It adds to the charm.

Pulled up right by the bank high above the Mary River in the caravan and just watched the ebb and flow of the tide. A relaxing quiet stay.

We stayed overnight, lovely quiet spot, no road noise at all. Were fully self sufficient. There was an old shower but we didn't need it. The good thing was we were the only people there.

The bush camp is a very nice spot to spend some time chilling out, it’s not too far from Maryborough and the directions are easy to follow. There is a sign at the entry. The track in would be interesting if there was wet weather, it is acceptable at the moment for off road vans, but would be a lot better if the holes where filled in. The area is well above the river, which is great for watching the world go by & if you want fish there are a number of shops in Maryborough that offer fresh sea food, including a professional fishing outfit a few minutes from the camp

Host did not mention about party at main house at the entry, loud music was playing till 0300am. Especially when camp conditions was keep noise to minimum and no loud music after 2100pm

This is a lovely camp. Well maintained and peacefull. I used it for an overnighter. Very pet friendly. Plan on comming back to spend a few days. Must be fully self contained. No kitchen, toilet or shower. As a camping spor - superb

Gary's camp was a great riverside camp , plenty of shade and also large sites , we didn't experience any sandflies at mozzies even though we camped right on the river bank , highly recommend for a quiet getaway to unwind in nature , we will definitely be back

This is a great "bush camp". No kitchen, toilet or shower. So don't expect caravan park style amenities. But it's beautiful staying by the river. Must be fully self contained.

I would definitely recommend using Gary’s hipcamp as your next adventure. Even though there isn’t toilets or showers it’s an amazing getaway if you’re looking for a place to see beautiful sunsets while sitting around a fire and going for a fish is a must. If you forget to buy something the shops are only a short drive. I’ve been twice and will be coming back for more.

Didn't know how high above the Mary River it was and no access to the water. Need to take your own toilet and shower even though there is a toilet and shower there??

Well laid out campsites, access to the river and plenty of room to seperate from the other camps. We were here around Christmas time and there were only 4 other sides in the campground. Beware the midgies after sunset! Will come back with a small boat to crab this section of the river - looked very promising!

Beware google maps :took us to way past site on other side of river . Once arrived :nice outlook Very steep river bank cliff Beautiful views ,quiet.Looks like a couple of long time campers but of no concern Didn’t use amenities as fully SC ,but pretty basic. Dog friendly.

Gary came and welcomed us. We sat on the river bank by a fire and had a few beers. The camp was quiet at night. Plenty of birds the next day. The toilets are basic but perfectly serviceable. There was a report of sand flys so we sprayed in advance and didn’t have a problem.

Great spot on the river. Only had 2 nights so didn't try fishing. I am sure you would catch fish give the right tides and moon. The toilet is a pit toilet and is a bit old but does the job. Great winter spot with sun coming across the river in the morning. Lots of trees so plenty of shade. Managed to get some sun for the solar.
