Welcome at Kookaburra Hills we have 6 sites to choose from that cater for couples, small to larger groups all are private and lots of space between sites. 300 private acres at the head waters of the Mary River, Sunshine Coast Hinterland. We value our privacy. After the Floods We have worked hard to make a new causeway across Kilcoy Creek to the property that accommodates all vehicle types. We look forward to welcoming back campers.” All sites are on flat ground and are located just 30 meters from Kilcoy Creek which has several swimming holes with crystal clear water. We have 1.5km of crystal clear water frontage (on the Kilcoy Creek) with swimming holes & fish stocked dams (Perch). Abundant wildlife, kangaroos, wallabies, koalas, and amazing bird life from Wrens to Wedge Tailed Eagles. 60% rain forest and 40% grazing. Property is organic and has had no chemicals used for over 30 years. We only permit people 18 years and over to stay here so No children there are too many farm risks. No toilets so BYO self-contained only. We have a no drone policy.

I got in on the last day before they have a short closure to upgrade the causeway. Great sites, well maintained near a bubbling creek. Went for an evening walk along the creek and sighted a gorgeous platypus less than 50m away from Far End camp. Would definitely stay there again.

We camped at The Far End site, such a beautiful well maintained tranquil spot on the edge of the creek. Stayed only for one night but could've easily spent the week. The dogs loved it and we are sure we will be back soon!

The Far End
My partner, 2 dogs and I stayed at far end for 6 days. The property is beautiful and we got to see some wildlife however the pictures on the website don’t depict the distance between campers and access to the river. Campers are quite close together we were under the impression we would be more spread out. And access to the river isn’t that easy. Otherwise we still enjoyed the time we spent here. Thank you

Stayed before, still a great spot even when it rained most of the time there. Had a goanna on the last couple of days want to hang around camp and a rat decided to go under the bonnet of 4wd and didnt know till drove 30klms down road and he popped out of grille onto bullbar, poor fella did the jump when pulled over.

We had an amazing first day & night at bush turkey site with the closest people 2 sites away (maybe 70m away through the trees). The site was lovely and shaded and had a direct, but steep, access to the creek area below. As we were setting up, other campers were walking along the road behind the campsites and their off lead dogs were running around and wandering through our camp and had to chase them away from our dog. Didn't happen again but just a note for others. On our second day, we had people from other campsites arrive. Just note that when they are all booked, they are very close together. The next site, Kangaroo, set up their camp 10 meters away from us because there was a second firepit in the area we were in, which ruined any privacy we had. Couldn't see a sign for Kangaroo near where we were so not sure if the people from 'The Far End ' site parked too close to us, leaving no room for Kangaroo. I didn't wander to see where the signs to the other sites were, but I feel like there needs to be marked better for where each site starts and ends. We ended up leaving that morning as we came to relax and not have the feeling someone was over our shoulder. No reception so couldn't contact the host to ask where everyone should be. Probably won't come back unless they space the sites out more.

Best spot of them all! Right at the end of all the camps it is private, very peaceful and beautiful running water all day and night! Couldn’t recommend this place more our dogs loved a dip in the crystal clear creek!

Lovely spot, would definitely camp again but would probably book the sites on either side of me as well, camping sites were a fare bit closer than I imagined they would be, was a wonderful location by the creek which was flowing and everything was so green. The doggos loved it very dog friendly.

the campsites were incredibly close together, within visual and hearing range of each other. Lights from one camp regularly flashed over another one. this was described far differently on the website and I had expected a more private campsite. The area was beautiful, the creek was nice but not as accessible as described. The directions to get there were great.

Sites are well looked after and prepped ready for campers. Running creek was very soothing on the soul and helped to relax in this tranquil setting. Definitely need to be self sufficient with showers, toilets and firewood. Sites are set far enough apart to ensure privacy and also assist with minimising noise from dogs deciding to interrupt the serenity with their barking. Ground is easy to hammer pegs in. Although mosses weren't an issue for us, definitely bring mossie repellent of citronella candles. Fireplaces located at each site to allow for fires, look at bringing with you a BBQ plate/grill plate to place over the top for cooking if open fire cooking is your thing.

My partner and I had a fantastic stay at the wallaby site 4. We both highly recommend. Will need a complete camp set up with a toilet and shower (if you don’t want to rough it) The sound of nature was incredible with the running creek, the cows mooing. It was raining on and off when we were there but the ground was well drained. The area was well maintained and freshly mowed before arrival. Highly highly highly recommend. We will be back!

We loved our 2 nights at Kookaburra Hills. We were in a large motorhome and due to overhanging branches we were not able to reach Kangaroo site. Fortunately we were the only ones on the property so set up on Goanna site which was well grassed, very flat and had an excellent fire pit. We spent a couple of hours just sitting in the creek and relaxing. Very pretty creek area. The only down side was that we picked up a number of ticks and therefore had to tell my son, his partner and dog not to come and join us on our second night as planned and paid for. Could not take the risk of their young dog picking up ticks. Overall a lovely, peaceful stay.

We’ve been here a few times & it’s a firm favourite of ours. It’s great being able to have the dogs off lead enjoying themselves (but picking up after) The creek is a cracker, but only access either from the far end or specific point otherwise there is a big unfenced drop. Use common sense & your fine! We love being in the trees & several degrees cooler than out in the sun. It’s great not to see signs of others there leaving things behind too. All you’ll hear is the sounds of nature, with no phone signal means you aren’t interrupted with technology either. The new causeway they’ve put in does take away the Spence of adventure when entering if the creek is up, but it does mean you can enter! One possible down side is kids aren’t allowed so we can’t go when we have ours.

Great quiet spot well looked after, end sites are all in one patch, not really seperated at all but was still ok. Only issue is a group was camped in our spot and no was was monitoring camps so we had to move to another spot and then ended up taking someone else's by accident. Otherwise great and dog loved it also playing in creek

The site was close to the road (both the internal track and the external main road) and was quite noisy at times. Not suitable for dogs as many people/cars passing your campsite.

Great area for 'off grid' camping and 'Bush Turkey' was great for our 21.6 van. Sitting by an open fire and hearing the running water from the creek was wonderful. The only issue was other dog owners not keeping their dogs on a leash or within their campsite - this comment certainly does not reflect the venue or the owners !

The location is fantastic, the view spectacular however the grounds haven’t been maintained in a long time, the fire pits were unusable, covered in long grass and weeds. There was no signage for our campsite so we had to bother the residents to locate it, after attempting to call the number on the listing which is disconnected and never receiving a reply from the “host” which we now understand lives in either another state or country. There were an insane amount of ticks, we pulled a couple that had burrowed but managed to catch the rest before they did. We would come back if the grounds were kept to a standard that ensured safety of visitors and provided the experience detailed in the listing.
