64 Hectares surrounded by National Park. *There are no showers but there is a compost toilet available.* A perfect spot to stay over for the Mt. Maroon climb. The local area has a tourism focus with plenty of opportunities to explore the Scenic Rim. Lake Moogara and Maroon Dam are not far away for jet skis, kayaking and swimming. If you are not up for Mt Maroon climb which could take up to 3 hours each way, there are always walks around the area that are less challenging. We are family friendly with easy terrain to set up for first time campers. Wake up to beautiful views and serenity. Sorry, no dogs are allowed as we have koalas and we are surrounded by National Parks Campfires permitted when restrictions aren't in place. Check on the day, it is usually fine to cook with contained cookers during a fire ban. BYO gas BBQ. Please note that there are no showers or potable (drinkable) water on our property, you will need to bring your own. Bring what you need and take it away. Leave no trace.

Perched on top of a small rise, this site has views of the mountain and the valley in the distance. Room for 8 people with a private compost toilet. This is still a work in progress, improvements are being carried out between guest stays, please bare with us as we improve the site. 356 Cotswold Road Maroon Queensland at Cotswold Trails. 64 Hectares surrounded by National Park. Please be respectful of our neighbours. The track is being improved, it is currently a bit bumpy, if you drive slow you should be fine. Please be careful. The site is for experienced campers so that shouldn't be a problem. The site sits on approx. 100 square meters, with 1 sites available, you may meet other campers from other sites on the walking tracks, this give you an opportunity to chat about your walk and experiences. You can gather or bring your own fire wood, if you want me to have all the fun of logging it, splitting it, and putting it in bags for you, then it is $20 per bag. Do not cut down green trees they don't burn very well give off a lot of smoke and no heat. This is not a 4WD park. No vehicles are to be used for property exploration you are welcome to walk about, please take note of any signs designating no go areas. Essential Things to bring: 1. Something to cut wood, small battery saw would be sufficient. Any wood cut on the property must remain on the property. 2. Toilet, there is a compost toilet, use a small amount of sawdust please, you do not need to fill the bin with sawdust, just a small sprinkle is all that is needed. There is no dump point or safe place to dump waste. Bring your own paper, Wipes are not suitable. 3. Water, there is no potable (drinkable) water available. This is an undulating area, Cotswold trail to climb the mountain starts at our front gate. This is an ideal place to setup for a climb of the mountain, there are tracks through out the property, and an abundance of wild life. Small site, ideal for family or couples. There is no water, no showers, you are expected to take with you, everything you brought with you. There is a possibility of hearing bandicoots during the night and you may hear koalas calling.

Flat open area, track meets with the Cotswold trails to the summit of Mt. Maroon. Ideal place to set up for a climb of the mountain there are tracks throughout the property, and an abundance of wildlife.  This spot is away from other family campers, for groups up to 20.  Enjoy the peace and quiet of a large paddock at the base of Mt. Maroon. This is not a Party site and any heavy bass music is discouraged, boring music that relies on Duff Duff bass can be heard for several kilometres we feel sorry for you if your music is so boring you want it heard from kilometres away and as such it is not allowed. May not be suitable for young children as there is an un-fenced dam close by. There are no showers or potable water Available. There is a composting toilet available, BYO toilet paper.  Campfire in designated area only. Do not leave fire unattended. Make sure fire is thoroughly extinguished before leaving. There is often wood that can be foraged for, bringing a battery saw or saw is a good idea. Any wood cut on the property must remain on the property. Firewood can be supplied $20 per bag - no chopping down trees. they don't burn well and make lots of smoke. No outdoor fire during restricted periods. Generator use not encouraged. Ensure that all cigarettes are properly extinguished. Please take all rubbish with you, it fitted in your vehicle when you came, it can fit when you go.

Beautiful location and very close to quite a few highlight walking tracks, only downside I did find the camp to be a little pricey considering how close we were to other campers, not quite as private as I would have expected.

These are perfectly laid out for true campers. They could easily squeeze more sites in and make more money but it’s clear they understand what campers want.. solitude. Each site has a unique quality. We stayed on the grassy area looking directly up to Mt Maroon. Others had different views facing west which we will probably go for next time. Thank you for opening up your property so we can experience these majestic views. It’s the perfect place to take it all before tackling the Mt Maroon hike. Not sure what else to say other than if you like camping this place has great vibes. We’ll be back. Thanks again

Lovely large site, which felt nice and private with trees around. Amazing view of Mt Maroon from our bed! Hard been a lot of rain, and section of site had red clay/mud, but we were only one van/car and plenty of great grassy areas to avoid. Great access (walk from site) to the Mt Maroon trail head.

I went to Kingsland and was seriously astonished by the view of Mt Maroon, especially when there are no clouds. You can see the entire Milky Way at night and every star in the sky. Absolutely beautiful place

This was perfect, even for a regular random weekend away. It was beautiful to be a part of Mount Maroon (or Wahlmoorum - Sand Goanna) in Yuggera Country. I came here to see a meteor shower that was peaking and it was beautiful. Waking up to see the mountain was stunning! The host was lovely and communicative, and I would love to return one day. It was a great place to stay. Great views and very quiet. There was no light from the city so the night sky was amazing. Just a great place to get away from it all and relax. We will definitely keep Kingsland on the list for future weekends away.

If your looking to hike Mt Maroon this is a good place to stay, reasonable prices with a good view of the mountain. You'll need a 4x4 to get down to the campsites (my yarris couldn't make it) otherwise park before the gate and walk into your campsite, BUT beware of the dog that WILL try to bite you. There's a property located within the gates of Kingsland Campgrounds and they own a big black dog that will aggressively try to bite and attack you, it followed me halfway to the site trying to bite at my legs and barking like it wanted to eat me. The owners need to either keep the dog locked up or inform people there's a 90% chance of getting mauled, I would NOT recommend taking children anywhere near the site if you have to walk in like I did. If I didn't have a history of dogs and know how to handle myself the situation would've gone downhill very quickly. There needs to be some warning about this somewhere as the dog has free roam to access the campgrounds, it's unsafe for children or people afraid of dogs! (PS. I'm an animal lover and it's not the dogs fault, it's just doing its job, this fault lies with the owners of the property not keeping the dog secure and the listing owner for not mentioning a single thing about it)

A fantastic spot for groups, we loved our time here as a beautiful spot under the gorgeous Mt Maroon. A awesome jump off point for hikes, climbing and water skiing or fishing with the National Park and Maroon Dam very closeby. Spot is good for mixed camping, small caravan or tent with good accessibility for most vehicles.

We stayed here for 2 nights and it was so beautiful! Lots of nature and beautiful views. Owners were really lovely on arrival and the drive out there was amazing. I’d suggest bringing toilet paper due to the drop toilets but other than that I can’t recommend it enough!

Yup a must visit with kids. We stayed at campsite A, the walk to the unyolked area at the foot of the mountain was amazing. Lovely spaced out sites. We even saw a koala up close.

Such an impeccable camp site with awesome views. A bit sketchy with a 2WD if you have a small car but with an SUV type car you’ll be sweet. Awesome to access Mt Maroon.

What a stunning spot! It was so quiet, Maroon looked so majestic & had the best time staying there in the hammock. Could not recommend enough. Low clearance cars might have trouble accessing the furtherest carpark though- gotta take it slow.

Stunning campsite, views are amazing. Super close proximity to Maroon trail head. Love that you are welcome to explore property on foot. I got there in a Toyota Corolla, road up to the unyolked carpark is very easy going in a 2WD. Last 300m was a bit sketchy - probably wouldn’t do again. The owner passed through and had a nice chat, next time I’d ask permission from them to park further down to avoid the rough, rocky last section.

Great base for a climb on mt maroon - Its a lovely location and if you place yourself at the drive in entry to the campsite you can see imposing Mount Maroon (An awesome hardish climb on a dry day - especially at dawn). The property is extensive but appears to be pretty weedy (as is most non national park) - so dont expect to find untouched bush or trails in the bush to explore but rather the usual kind of making do that running a bush property requires in this country. The direct and rock road in is quite rough and ungraded in places .. and a low 2WD might well ground out. It's not the hosts fault but toads hopping past you after dark in the night is disconcerting in the campsite - which is kind of mown out of the trees and lantana. Obvioulsy you get what you pay for but no water makes this a challenge if you like too travel light. The toilet is basic but works. Recommended for one night - but not really for a longer stay for reasons explained.

This is a great site. Just four or five sites in total and they are well spaced out. We just rocked up and found ourselves a site by picking one of the fireplaces . We stayed two nights and only one or two of the other sites were occupied - singles and couple who were climbing mt Maroon. The view of the mountain from the campground is stunning. I note the road in was challenging being quite bumpy for our i30 wagon so the more timid 2wd folk might consider this. Plenty of wildlife ( no koalas :( ). Lots of red backed fairy wrens in particular . The town of Boonah was a decent country town with a selection of shops and pubs - a good butcher in particular - Elite meats lots of sausages and smoked good. Lake Maroon is nice for a swim and quite picturesque - also you can get water here.

We absolutely loved staying at Wendy’s campsite! Secluded natural surroundings, well maintained and great hosts. The property was filled with wallabies, kookaburras and other wildlife and it was a perfect starting point for our hike up to Mount Maroon! We were able to stargaze at night then had a picnic under the huge tree in the campsite during the day which was beautiful.

This is an amazing site, such beautiful surroundings. Things that could be good in the summer would be a simple shower system as there isn't a creek on the property to wash after a day on the hill and making sure the compost toilet is cleaning out.
