4WD Recommended - dirt/gravel road and two creek crossings (through the creek bed) to get here. We have a whole beautiful valley with crystal clear spring-fed creeks, patches of rain forest and hillsides covered in grass-trees backing onto Wrattens State Forest. There's 1,375 acres of land - the boundaries of our property are the ridges of the mountains that encircle us, and many rare species abound here. This is a dog and horse friendly property but no pets allowed in the cabin. There is paralysis tick in this region - so we'd recommend treating any animal before you come and frequent checks while you're here. No mobile phone coverage at the cabin, but there is a hill you can drive (or walk) up on the property to get phone signal if needed and we have a landline phone in our house which can be used in emergencies.

Hideaway Haven
Not What We Expected !! :(
We were really excited for this trip & had booked (well ahead of time), a campsite (Hideaway Haven) that looked really great, shady & flat from the photos & by the creek. Unfortunately the Host let us know only 48hrs before arrival, the track to our site was sludgy & difficult to drive vehicles through. As it was last minute, + they were booked out, she gave us only 3 other options of sites to choose. We feel the photos of MANY of the campsites are misleading online, & look maintained well (in the photos), but are different in real life. Our friends came first to view campsite options - 1 of them was so sloped, grass so long, no-one would want to or could camp there. The campsite we had to go for (best of all 3) still had long grass & was basically a paddock in the full sun. This campsite Kookaburras Rest, had old, 'hard as rock' cow poo all over, hidden in the long grass, like cement which made it difficult to set up camp with tents, poles & pegs. We didn't get what we paid for. The site we wanted (Hideaway. H), we didn't even get to see. We were given the worst site options, that clearly no-one picks. No partial refund offered. We were in FULL SUN 24/7 & some of us got heat stroke. We all left 2 days early than planned. Positive: The fact you can hire camp toilets is fantastic & that Host sets it up for you, plus other things to buy like firewood etc. Unfortunately we won't be back.

Additional Campers Different Nights
Not what we expected!
We were really excited for this trip & had booked, (well ahead of time), a campsite that looked really great from the photos, shady, flat & by the creek. Unfortunately the Host let us know only 48hrs before that the track to our site was sludgy & unlikely to be safe to have our vehicles drive through. As it was last minute, we were only given an option of 3 others sites to choose from, as she was booked out, obviously. We feel the photos of the campgrounds are slightly deceptive & look much shorter grass, & flatter. One campsite option that was given, our friends checked out & told us the grass was incredibly long, & super sloped, nowhere to set up camp on a slope. The campsite we had to go with (the best of all 3) still had quite long grass, was basically a paddock in the full sun. We don't feel the campgrounds are well maintained. Our site had 'hard as rock', old cow poops in the very long grass, felt like cement & made setting up camp with tent pegs & poles very difficult. We definitely did not get what we paid for, we never got to go to the original site we booked, we didnt get offered even a partial refund & ended up going home because we were in FULL SUN 24/7 of the day, & got heatstroke one of the days. We abandoned our camp trip early. The only thing we liked, was that we could hire camp toilets, that is a great thing for the Host to offer, along with setting it up for you at camp, & other add-ons to your stay like firewood etc. We won't be back unfortunately.

We loved the feeling of being so removed from day to day life. The surroundings were absolutely beautiful lush with natural wildlife, stunning views and the relaxing calm of gorgeous waterways

Hideaway Flats
best in a 4wd vehicle
Hope valley was a beautiful property to camp on. We had our grandchildren with us and the flowing creek was perfect for them to explore for hours! They even got to see a turtle! It was so green and breezy. Nice private campsite just above the creek. Lovely sound of the flowing water all night and day. Such a clean creek as well! The drive in is quite lengthy but definitely well worth it. We would love to get back there sometime soon.
