Great location and only a short drive to the beach. The camp itself is pretty simple but it’s what we expected when we booked. I would say to avoid this site if you have a low clearance 2WD as we struggled a little bit to get out with our campervan. Overall we would stay again purely for the location 😊

This is not the best campsite I have stayed but it’s definitely not the worst either. There is a strip of mown / travelled grass about 40 to 50 meters from the entrance, down to a gravel pit. Which is the only flat usable area in the paddock. The grass is that very stiff stalky grass so not really the type you would walk through. In saying that it is relatively peaceful there with not too much traffic from the nearby roads. You can see the tidal creek / wetlands from the campsite with plenty of water birds and non water birds in the area. This would be a good camp for a tent / rooftop tent or maybe a camper trailer for a quick overnight stay in the area. The campsite was clean.

Big thanks to property owner jack beautiful place wet lands water hole bird life was amazing peacefulness of having the whole place to my self got to unwind Elliot heads lovely spot 5 mins up the road high and dry flat level land easy to find with Google maps will come be soon thanks for having me.

There are no signs for this site making it hard to locate, we drove straight past it a couple times. The site was also covered in cow droppings, had to shovel it away. Otherwise it is still decent, it's private and scenery is enjoyable. Host was also helpful and responsive. Despite the not so great parts of the site we all still had a great time.

Lovely place to camp, lots of birds and lovely walk around the mangroves! Kids loved hanging out with the cows!!! Very quite and peaceful, we would stay again 🙏

The host didn’t reply to our messages and then didn’t show up. This left us driving around his property in the dark trying to find him. We did not find anywhere appropriate to camp as the grass was over a metre tall and there was cow poo everywhere, This was a terrible experience for us and meant we had to find last minute accommodation.

Site was small with long grass all around. Would have been nicer to have a bigger area for the dogs to run around.
The midges and sandflies were bad as close to mangroves so make sure you have plenty of spray.
The town of Elliot Heads is a nice place to visit

It was difficult to find the entrance to the site. Unfortunately, there was only a small area that was mowed for our campsite. Although we knew there would be biting insects, the overgrown, uncut grass was a breeding ground for midges making our experience not as pleasant as we’d hoped.

This is not a camp-site. The drop-off from the road to the gate is nearly non-traversable with a 4WD caravan. When you go through the gate (after the abrupt instructions by the owner and non-response to any questions) there is the thinnest strip of mown grass (the driveway) leading to a small patch of gravel that is only big enough for your car, and not a tent and/or caravan as well, and certainly not anywhere to sit or an awning/gazebo, or anywhere to play or enjoy yourself. This patch of gravel is housing an irrigation connection with a star picket poking out up to about 70cm high, which is not safe and seems to be the main purpose of this gravel patch (not a campsite). There were also 2 pallets taking up about a 1/4 of this small space that was surrounded by waist high or higher grass! The water shown in photos is also fenced off with barbed wire, if the grass wasn't way too high to walk through or even stand beside and so no enjoyment there, either. Do not book this. We requested a refund and got absolutely no response. Luckily, we were able to find another instant book site 40mins from here (after already driving over 4 hours with our kids to get here) that was lovely so that this abysmal and misleading listing did not ruin our Easter weekend.

Hartwood Farm
Hartwood is a great spot, just make sure you are self sufficient. We had an amazing 5 night stay at Hartwood, with scenic views of the natural wetlands the birds were abundant with life. Quick trip to the beach at Elliot heads is stunning, only 20 minutes and your in town. Make sure you pack mozzie spray and coils in the summer.

Feeling disappointed in this site as what is pictured is not what we got. Our whole campsite was covered in cow poo, dirt and things fallen from the tree. We were given minimal directions until we found the host on a different site who had to give us directions. The pictures show grass paddocks and right on a lake and that’s not what this site is. We paid $36 for a night and really sorry but that is not what it’s worth.

We booked for 2 nights last minute. At $47 a night which is extremely high. The local caravan parks are less than this with power and water. When we arrived we were very disappointed with the site. Understand it is a cattle farm but we spent 30 minutes shovelling poo just to be able step out of the van and not step in poo. We have stayed on many working cattle properties and never had this issue. We also had issues leveling due the slop on the available mowed patch provided. We ended leaving after one night. I contacted hipcamp to ask for a refund, they said I had to request a refund from the owner. I sent several messages with no response. This property is worth $15 a night max.

Loved this site! No one else around except some friendly cattle in the paddock adjacent to us. Site overlooked a big waterhole and beautiful surrounding farmland. Felt secluded and peaceful.
Super close (driving distance) to Elliott Heads.
The camp had been recently slashed so no long grass dramas. The ground is a little uneven but that didn’t matter as we were in a rooftop tent.
The site is just off the road - hidden enough to feel somewhat private but also close enough to be easily accessible and easy to find. Owner was friendly + easy to contact when we needed directions.

Beautiful property with lovely views. However when we arrived to the site to set up camp, it was not camp friendly as the grass was knee high making it difficult to set up. We had to get alternate accommodation due to misleading information provided.

We had a relaxed stay at Hartwood farm. I was very thankful the grass had been slashed which gave you a big area to relax in. Great access to Elliott Heads and other backside towns. We stayed Easter long weekend and we were happy to be away from the crowds.

This site has potential to be amazing. Just a short drive to Elliot’s Head Beach, yet space and privacy on this large acreage.
A few unexpected and disappointing downfalls - the paddock it was in had knee high grass throughout. We were told there would be mown sites through an automatic message when we booked but upon arriving, it was knee high grass with cattle. There were a few tracks that looked like were mown a month or so ago.
Lack of communication - we tried to get in contact with the owner just to clarify we were in the right spot and if specific areas others may have booked but no response. The only message we were sent was an auto message on booking, no other response or answer to the phone call.
Cattle - totally get it’s a cattle farm, so no issue with cattle around, but they were in the same paddock as the camp sites & we would come back from being out in the day and notice muddy hoove prints over our stuff under the gazebo & on the solar panel. Probably worth mentioning on the add that the cows are in the same paddock as the camp area - as it was ok for us, but others might be more concerned and anxious about that.
We ended up staying two less nights than planned as it just wasn’t overly enjoyable & with the grass so high.
As it’s on a waterhole in QLD, the mozzies & miggies are terrible - so be mindful of that if booking in summer.
It’s got a beautiful outlook & in a good location so definitely has potential.

Was given minimal directions, and also told I will see various mown camp sites. Nothing looked mown or designated, had long grass and on a slope. decided to not stay and went elsewhere.
