Loved it, stayed 2 nights total. Amos is very welcoming. Great spot, dog was happy and I was rested! Creek crossing to get in and cows, dogs, chickens and native wildlife to keep you occupied. Beautiful place to refresh after/before Cape York!

Really lovely and secluded orchard with mature fruiting trees, fragrant flowers, and lush green grass - a welcome stay on my way from Cape York to unwind before Bloomfield track home, accompanied by my dog. The road here is also really scenic and well worth the drive. Bonus for the crystal clear safe creek, very good for drinking & swimming. Amos & his mum made Xena and I very welcome in their slice of paradise, that is also home to Cricket & Toby (the pig defender), chickens and cows. Thank you so much for the pleasure of staying here, I'm so lucky that I got the place to myself - Xena had a ball! Recommend site 3 for most privacy, great tree to camp under, and for solar dependent campers.

Such a great spot amongst the rainforest. So many different varieties of fruit in the orchard. Host was really kind and let us take a few different fruits to try. The rainforest is so close and you get to hear and see alot of wildlife. Great spot and would recommend for those trying to get away from the busier campsites.

A beautiful, serene and quiet camp. Camping amongst the orchard near the creek was lovely. So many interesting fruit. Amos was incredibly kind and hospitable. One of our favourite camps

Camped in tent at site 3, highest up in the hill. Easy walk downhill to great loo and shower, both of which look out to rainforest. Lovely host Amos, his lovely mum, a few happy WOOFers and two cute friendly little dogs. Our dogs were very relaxed here, loved the trails up hill to a spectacular lookout. Watching the valley and listening to the birds was magical. So many fruits grown here I had never heard of. Post Jasper floods damaged the river, hope it recovers well. 4WD needed for creek crossing at entrance, and take away your own garbage (plus any litter you find). Campfire wood was provided and we collected our own kindling for a nice campfire. We would love to camp here again, fantastic experience, highly recommend!

We loved our stay at gap creek, turned up late but was still greeted by Amos who is very accomodating. Lovely fruit trees on the property which made it a little difficult to navigate in our 4WD as we have a camper trailer but they provided good protection from the weather. Flushing toilet and hot shower which was just what we needed. We’d recommend having something to level out your trailer as the sites are on gentle slopes.

What a beautiful location!
We camped in site 3, which is right up the back of the property. You could hear a pin drop it was so quiet! Woke up to cows on the other side of the fence, which my 5yr old son LOVED!
The river out the front has changed alot from the pictures since cyclone Jasper, but was still VERY beautiful. The water was nice and cool. No crocs either, which was nice!
Amos the host was very friendly, and hospitable. The amenities were spotless and well looked after. It was awesome to be able to have our dog there also. She loved swimming in the river too!
All in all, were already talking about our next visit.
This was just what we needed!

This is a beautiful piece of property and Amos is a wonderful host. The March Flies at this time of year are pretty wild, but to be expected, and thankfully diurnal. The campsites are wonderfully maintained and clean with water and limited firewood available onsite. There is little to no phone reception, but possibly internet access. The disconnect from technology is refreshing and grounding. The grounds are populated with various tropical fruit trees and plants including dragonfruit, pepper, vanilla, purple star apples, lychees and mangoes among other things, although these are all seasonal and not fruiting all year. It still makes for a great backdrop. Be prepared for a rough creek crossing to enter the property - Amos has it signed as 4wd only. We managed with a stock D-Max 4wd towing a regular (not off-road) camper trailer. We had an amazing time on our stay, would love to stay again and would recommend it to anyone. Thanks Amos!!

Loved staying here, was a really good stay with green grass. The amenities were very clean, lovely hot shower. The cows were very friendly and allowed us to give them a pat! Loved the walk down to the creek and also the walk through the fruit trees!

You will need 4WD to get in. Lovely peaceful spot. Fantastic setting and great orchard.
When we are back up this way will definitely stay another five days to chill out.

Beautiful property with an abundance of fruit trees across the entire property. Amos was also a pleasure to meet. Definitely 4x4 access only as there is a river crossing to get into the property. Thanks for an amazing visit, we'll be sure to come back next time we're up here :)

It was beautiful and peaceful stay on site 3, my kids love the fact that there were cow's just on the other side of the fence, my dog also loved the space to run around. Everything very well maintained and looked after and the utilities great. The river and big tree's are amazing, love the swimming there, for my family it is vary much a hidden jem. Thanks to Amos for sharing that beautiful part of the country.

Beautiful tucked away sanctuary. It was amazing after leaving Weipa and being on red dirt the last 2 weeks. So tranquil listening to the running water all night. We stayed on site 1 which was close to amenities. Shower and toilet is open with lattice to give u privacy. But it is surrounded but beautiful rainforest so it didn't even faze me.

Site 2. Gental Slope
We booked 6 nights, and now wished we had booked more. Such an wonderful oasis. Lots of space for the kids to run and explore. The creek is crystal clear and full of life. Amos has put in so much work, the facilities are great, the hot shower was definitely a hit with the Mrs. Gap Creek Retreat is now top of our FNQ favorites list, and we will be back.

Great spot, right beside a beautiful creek. Clean little amenities make it so much easier and right in the middle of the jungle is great. Amos is a really nice bloke with a beautiful spot. Wish we had more time here and cant wait to come back.

Loved the location and privacy of each campsite. The creek was perfect for a swim to cool down and easily accessible. Having the toilet and a hot shower was a bonus. Dog friendly - our 2 dogs loved exploring the property. Would definitely recommend it to family and friends.

Gap Creek is a fantastic location to spend a few days. It’s the ultimate private and peaceful location from where you can explore the region from Cooktown to Bloomfield with easy day trips. Clean flowing creek with easy access for those who like a cool swim during their stay.
Amos is a great host, leaving you to complete privacy or accessible if you need anything. He is a font of knowledge regarding his orchard with many different types of fruit trees some I’ve never heard of.
I would recommend this site to anyone looking for a quiet retreat in the Bloomfield area.
