Property only accepts a single group so you will have it to yourselves. Great views to rock domes in Girraween and Bald Rock NPs and spectacular sunsets from large rock slab expanse through a set of gates adjacent to the campsite. Cold and can be wet and windy in winter so rug up and be prepared. Bush camp accessed by steep 2WD vehicle driveway. There are rock outcrops and granite slabs around campsite. Property is on the edge of Girraween National Park and 6kms from the park headquarters by road. Local wineries such as Pyramids Road, Balancing Heart Symphony Hill are close by. Private camping area for vehicles and associated light camper trailers or tents. Caravans, larger camper trailers and Campervans are unsuitable unless car is 4WD with low.range required for heavier units. Campsite has a composting toilet and hot water shower with lights on movement sensors. Dogs are OK as long as they are controlled and remain, tied up if necessary, within the cleared camping area. Firewood is provided or can be collected nearby. A fire pit is established and is the only location for open fires.Set up camp in an open grassy paddock surrounded by bush, granite boulders and rock slabs. Fires in provided fire pit only please. Firewood is available or can be collected. You may need to split logs. Blockbusters are provided but be careful not to damage the handle which is expensive and time consuming to replace. A kitchen / dining hut with a sleeping loft for two that has a table, seating for 6, bench, sink and wood heater is available to book as an extra cost per night. You need to provide cooking eating utensils and bedding. If you experience inclement weather conditions please contact us and an access code can be provided gratis. Access to hiking and mountain bike tracks into and through Girraween NP are nearby. Underground Creek and Dr Robert’s swimming holes in Girraween are within walking distance. It is a day long return walk to the top of Bald Rock, the largest granite rock monolith in Australia. (Map and direction finding needed). Approx 6km to park HQ with the start of the iconic walk to the top of the first pyramid past a swimming hole and rapids over granite slabs. Wildlife is plentiful if you are observant. Wombats and Lyrebirds are present and you can often see evidence of them or hear them in the surrounding bush land. Watch your food. Wombats have been known to like Tacos. Hence keep dogs in the cleared area and please tie them up if they roam further. Grey Kangaroos and red necked Wallabies abound. A special sight are the eastern Wallaroos which used to be common in the area before clearing allowed the grey Kangaroos to invade. The males have a distinctive black coat which makes them easily spotted but are very shy. Their numbers have recovered significantly. You might spot a Wedge Tailed Eagle flying high up and hear the screech of black cockatoos. Koalas have been sighted. Spotted Quolls exist in the area and the lower flats are being revegetated to encourage a linkage between private bush land to the east and the National Park to the west. Frogs are in the soaks in the lower flats and are noisy at night or after rain. Please leave gates open or closed as they are found. . Cattle are run on the adjacent property. A map of Girraween with suggested walks is mounted at the campsite.
