Broadwater is a working cattle station located on the Norman river, 50 kms from the town of Normanton. Broadwater has kilometres of water holes and lake frontage providing some of the most picturesque wetlands in the Gulf of Carpentaria. At the Broadwater wetlands with over 120 bird species, it is possible to see flocks of Red Tailed Black Cockatoos, Sarus cranes, Black Necked Storks and many other rare tropical species. Camping along the shore of one of our lakes you will be able to fish and set Red claw and Cherabun traps to catch yourself dinner if you are interested in this. At our lake frontages you will also witness the most spectacular sunsets as you soak up the serenity. Normanton being only 45 kilometers away, you will get to benefit from all it has to offer. Visiting Normanton will include some of the best barramundi fishing in Australia , historical train journeys (which travels past our turn off), great pubs , and lots more to explore. Karumba is also an hour and a half drive from the property, which is a must-see coastal town. *We are a working cattle property, and may not have mobile range during the day. Please be patient as we get into contact with you.*

Such a beautiful spot! The hosts were absolutely lovely, and the countryside and wildlife were just amazing. We camped at Site 1 by the lake, and it felt like a really special place. We watched cows and their calves wander in for a drink, and then all sorts of birds showed up—rainbow bee-eaters, pelicans, brolgas, and jabirus. It was such a peaceful and memorable stay.

What a wonderful spot beside the water, so many birds, Brolga, Egret, Whistling Kite and a large family of Apostle birds. Just to name a few. Peace filled a wonderfully tranquil space to be. The hosts are a very welcoming couple.

We loved this spot, nobody else within 2 km except for the birdlife and cows, plus a lonesome kangaroo. Sunset was awesome, and sitting by the fire next to the billabong was a treat.

We had a lovely few days camping beside a billabong on Broadwater Station. We really enjoyed watching the wide variety of birds and the cattle when they came to drink. We loved the fact we had a huge area all to ourselves and didn't have to listen to other people. Kaylene was super friendly and very helpful. We will stay again if in the area.

What a stunning location. Scott and Kaylene were very knowledgeable in choosing the correct site as we had the two doggos, one who loves the water so needed a spot with no crocs. And what a spot, down by the lake, woken up by brolgas every morning, visits from the locals and the most amazing sunsets. We booked originally for three nights and loved it so much we booked a further eight nights. I cannot recommend this site more highly and we will be back if Scott and Kaylene will have us

Kaylene and Scott are so welcoming and we felt very privileged to stay on their property. Camped right on the lagoon so much birdlife; wallabies even came down to drink not 20 m from where we were eating breakfast. Have already marked the calendar for next year.

We had the most amazing stay at Broadwater Station. It was made extra special with Kaylene, Lowri and the family inviting us to help with the mustering of their cattle. Our boys 8 and 6 thought this place was the best, and we were able to have an experience different from any other. The location of our camp site was private and quiet with birds and cattle wandering around the lake. We would highly recommended this stay to anyone travelling through the area and wanting to experience a working cattle station. We are all great full to have stayed and met such a lovely bunch of people. Thanks 🙏 🏕️

What a beautiful peaceful spot. We were welcomed by Kaylene who showed us our spot by the wetlands. Quiet serene, birdlife amazing all on our own. Goannas, brolgas, jabirus, kingfishers and more birds and the odd freshwater crocodile. What an amazing spot thank you Kaylene and Scott for sharing it with us.

Fantastic bird-watching spot! We loved relaxing by the lake and watching all the wildlife. 20min drive on well-maintained dirt road to get to camp, easy access to camp itself. Our caravan (without shocks) managed fine. Kaylene welcomed us when we got there. We were sad to leave!

Kaylene met us on arrival and showed us to our campsite on the lake . The campsite was very private and secluded Lots of birds on the lake, a couple of pigs late afternoon. Went down to the river for a fish and saw a small freshwater crocodile float past. Kaylene and Scott were great hosts and the property magnificent will stay again when in the area Robert Harrison

I was looking in Hipcamp for our next overnight stop around Normanton and Broadwater Station popped up… what a delightful find! Front row uninterrupted views at the lake. A nature lovers paradise especially the birds.. The Milky Way was so vividly clear & glorious due to no other lights around. We lit a fire 🔥 with the ready wood neatly stacked. The only sound at night was the chorus of night creatures singing- which we love! Would go again in the future
