Recent Hipcampers say this Hipcamp is great for families and kids.
Amberkolly is a 36,000 acre broad scale wagyu beef breeding property with beautiful valleys and ranges. Camping is available along the picturesque, untouched Broken River with crystal clear water running straight out of Eungella National Park. Amberkolly is situated roughly 48km south of Collinsville Qld, accessed via 18km of gravel road. It features a massive 8km of dual frontage to the Broken and Little Bowen Rivers, and also 4 km of dual frontage to the Bowen river. There is access for camping set ups including swags all the way up to 24ft caravans. We welcome self-contained campers who bring their own camping toilet/shower. You must have your own amenities and drinking water. There is access to a picnic table and rubbish facilities. The Broken and Bowen River runs crystal clear year round and the little Bowen is seasonal. There is some gold in the river beds so be sure to bring your metal detector. Sit around the campfire in the evening sharing special time with your family. There is no phone service or power on site so it will give you that much needed time out from the outside world. We recommend 4WDs to access the campsite. Broken River Nature Escape
Peaceful
Great swimming, quiet, friendly hosts, freshly graded access, and slashed camping areas.

Broken River Nature Escape
I love the position. It was great that the area had been slashed and the road graded. Be prepared there are NO facilities at all. You have to be fully self sufficient- that’s what we love about it

Riverside
We had the most amazing campsite right on the sandy bank of the river. Nobody within 500m of us. So peaceful.

Broken River Nature Escape
Camping riverside
Beautiful part of the world. Very relaxing and the kids had a ball. Throughout the station there are plenty of places to explore along the river from jumping off the rocks to kayaking through some rapids. My boys hooked up to some nice sooty grunter which was their highlight of the trip for them. Highly recommended.

Creekside campsite
Booked for 2, stayed for 1 because I was sick. Such a disappointment because this place is beautiful I could have stayed for a week. Can’t wait to bring the kids here, they’re going to love it. Yes the directions, GPS being google maps, tried to take us to a middle of a paddock on an imaginary road, as others have stated, my Hema HX2 didn’t even recognise the address, so we kept driving. Ended up 20mins past where we should have turned off, but we found a local to ask for directions & had to back track. Turn at the Amberkolly Road signpost (this was not a listed road on our gps maps) at the T-intersection (there’s a house across the other side of the road at the intersection) and you’ll be on the right road into the station. Follow your gps for the most part. Please note, no mobile service! Keep driving and you will come to a sign that says camping to the right. The good sites are past the ‘Junction’ sign. Junction has no creek access it’s at the top of the hill washed out track and overgrown to the creek. Where we camped down the end of the road is not suitable for big caravans to get in.
