We are so proud to own a small piece of land in beautiful Cook Forest State Park in scenic northwestern Pennsylvania. Known for its stands of old growth forest, the park’s Forest Cathedral of towering white pines and hemlocks is a National Natural Landmark. A scenic 13-mile stretch of the Clarion River flows through Cook Forest State Park and is popular for canoeing, kayaking, and tubing. Nestled within Cook Forest State Park is a secluded eight acres adorn with whimsy ferns and towering 100+ year-old Hemlock trees. It’s the perfect site for campers to unwind and enjoy nature. There are plenty of clearings to pitch a tent. One of the most magical parts of this property is a quick 1/2 mile trail through State Game Lands that leads to the Clarion River and an exquisite natural swimming area with massive flat oversized rocks perfect for fishing or sunbathing. Amenities within a short drive include canoeing/tubing rentals, horseback riding, restaurants, Lost in the Wilds Brewing, and plenty of hiking and biking trails. The perfect escape to take advantage of everything nature has to offer.

Wooded Escape in Cook Forest
This is a very beautiful site! Nestled back in the pines it is truly secluded. Sadly it rained my entire stay but that’s just part of the experience. This is a great location in the heart of Cooks Forest so it’s easy to get to lots of activities. FYI, the hike to the campsite is about 150 yards or so down a fairly steep hill. Pack accordingly.

Camped here for 2 consecutive nights and it was awesome! It's a short downhill hike from the parking spot to the campsite so don't expect super easy access to your car, but once we were set up we had an amazing time. Very spacious campsite clearing amongst the forest was a beautiful place to stay for the weekend. Large fire pit, provided logs, and plentiful natural firewood nearby made for some easy camp fires. Path down to the river was a bit tricky and steep but we made it down and back with 2 dogs without too much trouble. River was filled with people inner tubing so don't expect much privacy there but still a relaxing place to hang. Would definitely recommend this spot!

This site may have been better if we had arrived earlier and had more time to explore the area while it was light outside. According to the other group there were more areas to camp if we had hiked further in but as my partner and I were on a road trip, we had to get moving in the morning and were hoping for something reasonably close to the car. There was plenty of firewood at the site, and multiple local farms within a 15 min drive to the campsite, where you can pay cash for firewood. Not knowing this, we struggled to buy firewood in the nearest major town. It would be great if the hosts could provide fire pits for a few reasons: first, it would signal good areas to set up camp when time is not available to locate the best site yourself. Second, the area has a lot of dry leaf litter on top and a pit would make it much safer to start a campfire. Lastly, as there are multiple camp sites offered on Hipcamp, the other group had camped right in the middle, meaning that it was not really private. The fire pits would separate out the camp sites so both groups could have privacy. The area itself seemed very beautiful and I’m a little disappointed that we did not have the time to explore it further. There were very few bugs in mid May which was delightful. It was muddy in areas but you could avoid them. I would recommend this area if you know you will be arriving early and can claim the best camping spot and explore the area while it’s still light.

We had a great time camping on Natalie’s land. There were several medium sized clearings where you can set up a tent. It was a little bit of a walk to get the sites but that’s okay with us! While we were there, we only encountered one other set of campers but otherwise pretty much had the place to ourselves including all the wooded hiking trails and river half a mile down from the property. Lots of animals to see too including deer, fish and salamanders.
