It was a beautiful and peaceful stay. The well stocked wood stove is amazing. Bed is clean and cozy. Plenty of birdsong and bird sightings. Great location, near Henry Hagg Lake. I would wholeheartedly recommend unless you are attached to the "overlooking mountain" part of the listing. Near the yurt there is now a dense, young stand of fir forest blocking most of the view, including the mountains. You would have to bushwhack to glimpse them. A lot of the pictures are at least 7 years old and the yurt is no longer "perched in a open clearing above the forest". Still an enjoyable time.

Thoroughly enjoyed my escape from the city at the Elk Moon Yurt. Everything was just as expected and the yurt was well-stocked with all I needed for a sweet overnight stay. Would love to come back - thank you!

It had everything you need and super cute! It was easy to find and clear instructions for everything. There were a couple battery lanterns, but I wish there had been a little more light available. Maybe bring your own lantern if you also want more light at night!

An absolutely beautiful location and beautiful lodge, with breathtaking views and helpful basic amenities that made the whole experience feel absolutely cozy. This yurt is on top of one of the ridges of the Wilmette valley affording near three-sixty degree views of all the mountains. There was at least one review before mine that mentioned the trees blocking the view. And although the trees have grown in it by no means detracks from the view or how awesome it feels to be on top of a mountain in a lush forest with the mists surrounding you in the morning, an absolute quiet at night. If you want to see the mountains clearly you can walk to the main road and they'll all be there in glorious sight.
There was also mentioned by a previous reviewer about highway noise and I didn't notice any highway sounds, except for the very morning that I checked out and even then it was so low decibel. I'm surprised that anybody mentioned it. And I am a very, very light sleeper. (I travel with ear plugs though).
The yurt warms up quick with the wood stove and even though my stay was in the winter, when the sun broke out the next day the yurt got too warm. So build your stove fire with that in mind. It stays warm through most of the night too.
Loved the vibe, comfy bed and how civilization wasn't far- highly recommend soaking in the Japanese pool at the Grand Lodge in Forest Grove or enjoying the cigar bar/patio there if you're into that.

I spent a solo New Year’s Eve at this lovely place and it was just far enough away from Portland without me having to go all the way out to the coast. Accommodation was lovely and the pre setup camp stove and dishes were a lovely bonus!

This Yurt experience is special. I loved how isolated in nature it felt, while only being 30 min from Portland. There were deer in the road on the way up to the yurt, the nighttime rain was relaxing, and the woodfire stove kept the space nice and toasty. I took Janna's advice and booked a soak at the Grand Lodge, which was the cherry on top for a solo getaway.
I'd love to come back in the future!

The view wasn't what I expected. The trees are much taller now which blocks much of the view. As well, the highway was loud which affected our sleep a bit. I wouldn't recommend for light sleepers.

We had an amazing time at the elk moon yurt. We arrived late at night to a beautiful starlit sky and woke to an amazing sunrise. The yurt has all the privacy one could ask for when on a getaway. It was the perfect place to come back to after I proposed to my partner.
Janna was super accommodating with booking and very responsive. I definitely recommend this place and we will absolutely be back.

We were expecting the beautiful view that was portrayed in the photos listed, but unfortunately the photos were very misleading and the trees were all overgrown and we couldn’t see the view from any angle. and unfortunately the lamps didn’t work in the yurt either which left us in a tricky situation once it got dark. I will say the yurt was very cozy and cute on the inside. I would just recommend updating the photos of the property so people have an accurate representation of where they’re staying.

I loved staying at janna’s yurt, my girlfriend surprised me with this trip knowing I had a stressful work week prior and the stay was very refreshing. Another plus was not being to far from the city!

The land was beautiful and well kept, along with the Yurt itself. Janna provides almost everything you need in the little space and it’s far enough from the property you feel on your own. My favorite part of the stay was seeing the sky filled with stars and cosmos both on the porch and through the Yurt eye!

I came to Elk Moon with my 13 year old daughter for a night of glamping. The yurt did not disappoint. The property is beautiful and the yurt is absolutely lovely. It was a magical experience. And the composting outhouse was pristine, odorless and spotless. Everything was perfectly thought out for comfort and enjoyment. We had such a nice outing and will definitely return!!! Thank you for such a lovely experience! 10/10

What a wonderful place to stay if you need to get away from the noise! The yurt is very comfortable & had everything we needed. Hearing the beautiful sounds of nature & seeing the night sky so full of stars restored peace to my soul. Thank you for a great stay!

The view was what sold us on the spot and arriving we realized there was minimal views from the deck/yurt due to trees and vegetation. However, the yurt was cute and comfortable, the stars were beautiful, and it was nice to get away from the city noises. It was very peaceful! The yurt has all the essentials and the small touches shows the care that goes into the place. Janna was communicative and a great host! We look forward to visiting again!

My fiancé and I stayed here to escape and unplug from our daily lives. We were overly satisfied with our stay here. The directions are very clear. It’s a long dirt road but if you just follow their instructions you will find it no problem. You are on someone’s land but they are far enough away that you feel completely alone. Our favorite part was the yurt has a clear top piece that acts as a vent and at night you can lay in bed and see the stars. Also a perfect spot location wise for getting to things. 20 mins to the tillmook forest, 20 mins to forest grove, 1 hr to the beach.

The site is wonderful, feeling both remote and connected. The trees, flowers, and grasses make the landscape interesting and calming. The weather is changeable, and the wind cleansing. The yurt is very tidy and comfortable with spaces that easily provide for rest, meditation, reflection, writing, reading, sewing and connection to the outdoors. I love the smells of a woodstove and the sounds of the birds singing. Breakfast and coffee outside is easy and relaxing. I hope to plan another trip soon.

We had a great stay at Elk Moon. Upon arrival we walked right into the yurt and were greeted by a bright, spacious, and nicely decorated space. A cozy seating area, along with a super comfy bed was a great perk. The basic necessities were provided, along with an outhouse with a compost toilet.
The only drawback was not having a view like all the pictures had shown. Honestly, that is why we booked Elk Moon. We were pretty bummed to find the wide open space overgrown. Hipcamp photos need to be updated to reflect what it looks like now.
