Conifer Cabin in the Woods
Love this place as close to home for a lovely weekend get away. The town of Mt. Vernon is also great to explore and very short drive from the cabin. Also several great hiking trails near by. Host is wonderful and all their animals. Also the honey they make is outstanding. This is a mother/daughter weekend trip and we have been coming here for 3 years. Plan to make it back next year as well

Wonderful setting ,great size. For one person. I couldnāt get the keurig to work for tea. Bathroom and toilet were comfortable. Being āolderā it would help me if there was a handrail on the outside. Great hosts!!!!
This was not our first stay at Shady Owl but it was our first stay in the Conifer Cabin. The cabin was perfect with lots of perks and the seclusion was just what the doctor ordered. We had a very relaxing weekend with our 2 dogs who really enjoyed exploring all of the trails. Looking forward to our next stay!

Peaceful and relaxing, exactly as described. Loved it!!
Astoundingly cozy, quiet, well thought out, and secluded. Amanda and Chuck are accommodating and kind. We loved fresh eggs in the morning, almost as much as we loved meeting the chickens themselves. Grateful to have experienced this little piece of heaven!
The cabin was nice and clean. We had a blast; we caught a lot of fish, and the owners were nice. We will do it again next year. Thank you

It was fantastic and amazing location. The privacy was perfect.
My niece is about to start kindergarten so we decided to take her glamping as a summer adventure before she starts, and Shady Owl was amazing. Both cabins were really cute and well equipped with everything you can think of - you can tell the owners put a lot of thought into everything, from games and dvds to starter wood/egg cartons for the fires to bug spray. We had a blast cooking out over a campfire, spending time on the pond in the peddle-boat, enjoying the gorgeous land, and most of all: all the animals! My niece was in love. I can't tell you how many times we had to go visit the turkeys, chickens, and roosters. Not to mention the cats and kittens. And we absolutely loved the dogs that just leisurely stopped over to say hi during our stay. We all are huge animal-lovers (I work at a city dog-kennel a couple hours away), so we truly had a blast! Thank you for sharing your beautiful farm space with others!

The cabin is so quaint and cozy.i was a bit skeptical of the compost toilet in such a small space, but the sawdust was a perfect fix. the property is beautiful and has lots is wildlife. Beds were comfy and cabin was very clean. 10/10

It was a short enough walk to not be annoying, and a far enough walk to feel comfortably isolated! The tree cover makes for some beautiful shady respite, and we really enjoyed our time here! The local town is super cute too. I especially enjoyed the opportunity to choose from the small selection of analog / obsolete entertainment options. Very nostalgic <3

Had a beautiful and peaceful weekend at the Songbird Suite! It was the perfect mix of getting away but still escaping the heat wave with the AC. We loved watching all the animals on the property, and our dog loved sniffing every inch of the dog park. Amanda and her husband are wonderful hosts!
Overall, we had a great experience and would return! I did have a few cleanliness and safety concerns. Although I understand it is a rustic cabin, it smelled overwhelming musty and damp. The cobwebs and dust suggested it needed a good cleaning. In addition we had a concern for the oven. It is gas and there was no ventilation. My sister came one night and brought a fan at our request so that we could point it out the kitchen area window for some ventilation. If you ran the oven without doing so, it could be dangerous. Due nthis, we opted to do most of our cooking on the fire pit outside.
All in all, the property was fun and inviting. We had a place to run our dogs and there are all kinds of farm life; dogs, cats, turkeys, and chickens to interact with. Amanda and her husband are very welcoming.
The stay was amazing. It was so quiet and peaceful with little trails to explore that were just the right length. My kids loved finding the little statues hidden throughout the trails. We loved seeing the chickens roaming around.
Stayed here for our 2nd wedding anniversary and to relax after life chaos. My only regret was not staying longer. We stayed with our dog Sally, who is 100000% a city dog and has never seen chickens or turkeys. She did great. Her scariest moment was the paddle board moving in the wind or Tommy (the turkey) yelling at me to get out of the cabin HAHA. We stayed in the songbird cabin and it was perfect waking up to the pond out front and the roosters/Tommy's calls (I already miss those guys!!). The trails are perfect with lots of wild flowers and cute stump decor throughout the trails. The amenities were perfect and just what one would need for a get away...and the beds, they were the comfiest ever (even better than ours at home) so not only will you relax from the atmosphere, but you will get a great night's sleep. We added on the eggs and honey; highly recommend as they are worth it!
My favorite part was definitely Tommy and the chickens! They gave us some needed joy we needed at this time. Though, if you try to befriend a chicken...they will trick you and say no while the others by the barn laugh leaving you embarrassed HAHAHAHA.
We will definitely be back throughout the year as a relaxing home away from home. Highly recommend staying more than 2 nights!

Conifer Cabin was perfect for a great nightās sleep. I wish I could have stayed longer.
Love this place. So quiet but close to many activities in the area.
The cabin is so adorable and the hosts are wonderful people.
So nice that they established this rescue for animals with their property.
Their farm fresh eggs they offer are so good.
Definitely will plan a trip or 2 back. More to explore.

The cabin was perfect! Highly recommend it. The host did a great job with the place. Gives a good detailed layout of the property and places to visit in a book. Also fun with all the different animals on the property the host owns.
With adorable cabins, friendly hosts, and entertaining animals this place is definitely worth the stay. We had a lovely time with no complaints.
Me and my Dad stayed at The Shady Owl Ranch for a few days and it was amazing!! It was super cute, I loved every small detail, with the pictures on the walls and the whole esthetic was cozy- we loved everything so much!! It was so peaceful and full of animals!! We will definitely be back!! Also the folks here are super nice š«¶š» (caught a lot of fish too) š£š
Host/hostess are very helpful and nice. I recommend you read pre-arrival instructions before arriving. If itās going to be dark when youāre arriving, make sure you have a big flashlight to use when youāre going to the cabin. The stovetop is manually lit without the āclickingā of a pilot. I suggest putting the burner on low.
The surrounding area has a full service grocery store and a few fast and fast casual restaurants within 2 miles.
Finally, beware of the free range Turkey. They will lounge behind your vehicle and will not leave. We just drove around them to get out.
Overall, we enjoyed the quiet and peaceful setting of the cabin. We would definitely recommend it if youāre looking for a good retreat or recharge trip. The honey and eggs were delicious and worth adding to the trip. The unlimited firewood would be great for a longer stay, but wasnāt valuable for what was a little more than one night stay because of our last minute trip.
This was a wonderful location and my children (and dogs) and I had a great time. Pond was beautiful, fire pit made a peaceful evening, and the cabin was clean and welcoming. We canāt wait to go back!

Conifer Cabin in the Woods
This a perfect place for families. From the pond with great fishing and paddle boards to the well maintained trails and lots of animals to see. My 4 kids absolutely loved it and had a wonderful time. The owners are great, friendly and helpful! We hope to be back!
Oh my goodness!!!! I knew right when we pulled thru the gate this place would be perfect!! Loved the vibe!! Amandaās property is so cozy & welcoming! Everything she does has a purpose. Our kiddos loved the pond & all the animals roaming. The kittens & of course Tom & Jerry the turkeys! The cabin was super cute & decorated to perfection! We loved everything about this place!

A lil overnight getaway in the Conifer Cabin was just what we needed. We fished the pond, had a small fire, listened to the sounds of nature, played card games, and most of all enjoyed the peacefulness. Cabin is private and serene with surrounding woods and best of allā¦itās in total privacy. We loved it! Canāt wait to book again in the future! The animals were definitely an added bonus! āŗļø

Songbird Suite on the Pond
Host were quick to respond to requests and questions. Cabin was Soo cute and perfect amount of space for us (2 adults and 1 older kid). Having the option for AC and a real bed is what I needed to relax and get away from "life" but also cook on the fire and sit by the water. Turkeys do get close and that was awesome. Would love to go back in every season! Thanks for a cool unique stay!

Songbird Suite on the Pond
Absolutely LOVELY place to stay. There's various farm animals to watch and interact with, along with some eggs and honey for sale. Both the eggs and honey are so tasty. The hosts are wonderful people and very easy to talk to. We've stayed two summers in a row and absolutely will be staying there again in the future. Can't recommend them enough if you're staying in the area š
