Memory Park is a primitive, beautifully maintained family-owned private campground located near beautiful Atwood Lake State Park. First developed in 1968, Memory Park offers peace, quiet, and tranquility for you and your family for that perfect weekday or weekend getaway . There are plenty of primitive sites to choose from, including Murphy Meadow, Outback Bend, Honeymoon Point, and Shady Rest, just to name a few. Each campsite includes a picnic table and fire pit. Firewood is available ($10 through hipcamp or cash on-site per full wheelbarrow load). Memory Park is the ideal rustic environment to restore the soul, including simple activities like sitting around a fire, reading or taking a nap, hiking, cooking over the fire, observing nature, and enjoying fellowship with friends. Memory Park can be your 'go to' camp spot, especially for Buckeye Trail hikers! Water is available from two hand pumps on the property. Electricity is not available. Quiet generators are welcome. A clean port-a-jon is maintained for our campers.

The Patriot boasts a level gravel parking pad, a large cement patio, picnic table, and an updated fieldstone fire pit. After a quick and easy set up, relax by the fire and enjoy the sunset across Conotton Creek.

Sanders Base Camp #1

We enjoyed our stay here for a second year in a row! The host Mark is a great communicator and responsive. This property is so clean and so well kept! Our boys enjoyed riding their bikes around the campsite and we enjoyed sitting by the bonfire. We had the entire campground to ourselves for two nights and it was calm and quiet! Thank you Mark and we are looking forward to coming back again!!

Perfect weekend getaway spot!

Memory Park was the perfect place for our weekend get away! Mark was extremely friendly and accommodating, and made sure to greet us when we arrived. Everything was so well put together. You can tell Mark and his family have put a lot of time and effort into making this the perfect camping spot! We stayed at the new In The Woods site, which was absolutely perfect for us. The site offers considerably more privacy than some of the other spots we saw around the park, and has a much more cozy, intimate feel being completely tree covered. The main draw back to that privacy is that you can’t drive all the way to the tent spot, so you do have to carry your gear in and out a short distance. It also is the closest to the train tracks so you will likely be woken up at night by the train. Luckily we didn’t have any problem going back to sleep after it passed.

Memory Park was wonderful. We booked River bend but all sites looked nice and well kept. We got lucky and had the whole campground to ourselves. Had fun on the swings. Great firewood. Simple campground with no cell service. Great to detach.

Dispersed Camp Sites
Wonderful and peaceful site. We stayed at one of the dispersed sites and were the only campers there. Slept like a baby. There’s a small creek that runs along the property. Beautifully maintained. Far walk to the bathroom but we brought our own pop up potty. It’s right by the railroad tracks but we only heard it come through once a night. Very close to Atwood lake and leesville lake where you can fish, rent boats, etc. we will definitely be back. Thanks Mark!

What a great camp! Well tended, carefully thought out, scenic and Mark, your host, is next level great! From carefully placed Adirondack chairs along the waters edge to swings and horse shoes, there is something for everyone. Throughly enjoyed our stay, and look forward to returning.

Back-to-basics camping off the beaten path :-) ... The host, Mark, was very cheerful and helpful to guide us by cell phone to our campsite ... Quiet, serene setting with large campsites ... Limited amenities to a very clean Porta-Potty and hand-pumped water ... As close to dispersed (primitive, boondocking) camping as one can get ... Small, quiet portable generator was permitted ...

Site 1 - Honeymoon Point
This was our second time enjoying Mark and Tammy's campground, and it did not disappoint! We stayed at the Honeymoon spot, again. We love the sun and had lots of it! Very private and relaxing. Our last day, we decided to put our double inner tube in the creek and float which was very refreshing!! Mark and Tammy are great hosts. We are very happy and thankful we found such great people with such beautiful land to share 😍

Dawn Road Retreat
My friends and I stayed at Dawn Road Retreat and Creekside Path, and loved both sites. The sites were both very large, with lots of space for tents on the Dawn Road site and ample RV space at Creekside. I would recommend other sites on the property if you're not a fan of backing up your camper/RV, but all of the sites were gorgeous and well laid out. The port-a-potty was centrally located and clean, and non-potable water was available as well. The views were beautiful and Mark was very sweet and helpful. The train came through once and that was extremely loud, but in 3 days onsite there was only one and only the railroad controls the railroad! Overall it was a very quiet, chill campground, we would absolutely visit again.

Mark was a great host. We arrived at 10 PM and he was waiting for us at the entrance and made us feel very welcomed. He was very accommodating as well. The campsite was great too and we had our own privacy. Only thing to note is this site is next to railroad so we heard a train go by at 2 AM. Otherwise it was a great site and would go back if we are in the area again.

Dawn Road Retreat
Very peaceful and relaxing little getaway close to home. Property is very well kept and a good amount of space in between sites. Will definitely be back in the near future!

It was such a great place to stay! The property was super clean. The little river it was on just set the tone for a nice relaxing weekend. Mark was easy to get in touch with. We ended up being 1 of 2 campsites being used over the weekend but I can see how it would give more campers a feel of privacy. The port-o-pity was probably the cleanest one I have ever seen. The terrain wasn’t difficult to get to camping areas. I would recommend this to anyone going on a solo trip or with friends!

Mark was an amazing host. We found his campground on short notice and gave it a go. The campsites were graciously spread apart giving you some seclusion. The campsites ground is primitive , but we enjoy the primitive camping. A small creek runs along the campground that is nice for the kids to explore. Nearby there is great fishing. All in all great spot .

Mark's campground was unlike any other!!! If you like your space and don't want to be on top of other campers, this is the place!!! We decided we had to check out Memory Park and we were not disappointed!!! Mark and Tammy are great hosts and very accommodating! We cooked every day on the fire, walked around the park, and Cash (our German shepherd) played in the creek. Everyone was friendly and it is such a a beautiful hidden gem. We have already made plans to return, again and again. Pretty sure we found our home away from home ❤️

Nice little campground tucked away in the woods. Very close to active train tracks that love to blow the horn (even in the middle of the night) 😂. The sites are spread out enough that you have some privacy but you will definitely still see and hear your neighbors. The host was very friendly and made sure we were happy with everything before letting us enjoy the rest of our stay.
