Darwin is the gateway to the amazing Kakadu National Park. There are many popular waterfront areas with several beaches and green areas like Bicentennial Park. While sightseeing, make sure you visit the Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory, displaying Southeast Asian and Pacific art. For outdoor enthusiasts, there are some good fishing and mountain biking spots. We are located on a 5-acre block on the edge of town. The top 2 acres are laid out in a tropical garden setting, with the other 3 acres set out with native Darwin plants visited by lots of native animals and birds. You'll feel like you're a whole world away yet you will only be 2 minutes from the supermarket, 5 minutes from a large shopping centre, and 15 minutes from Darwin's CBD. We are a small boutique site and only have currently 3 sites on the 5 acres. Your site is private and you will be able to enjoy your stay without interference from others. IMPORTANT: Each site can accommodate 2 adults MAX. If you have 3 or 4 adults, you will need to book both sites. Please note Pool site is open all year round and has permanent cover. Other sites are dependant on weather and access.

We are located on a 5 acre block on the edge of town. The top 2 acres are laid out in a tropical garden setting, with the other 3 acres set out with native Darwin plants visited by lots of native animals and birds.  There is access to a shower/ toilet block, drinking water, rubbish facilities, a laundry and wifi. IMPORTANT: Each site can accomodate 2 adults MAX. If you have 3 or 4 adults, you will need to book more than one site. Chill out by the pool, marvel at the local wildlife, enjoy the amazing sunsets. There is plenty of space for your set up, whether you're staying in a tent or camper van. This campsite features concrete pads. This place is quiet but only 2 minutes to the supermarket, 5 minutes to a large shopping centre and 15 minutes to the Darwin CBD. Pets on leashes are welcome. Limit of two pets per site. All sites have power and water.

The Urban retreat is a 5 acre property in the Northern suburbs of Darwin that has had over 1000 native trees planted to bring back native bird and reptile life in the suburbs. It has its own fully furnished kitchen with a gas stove, microwave, air frier and fridge. It comes with a King Size bed built in wardrobe and TV. The studio is fully air-airconditioned. The studio is approximately 100 metres from the pool.

Bamboo Site
Beautiful campsite and Peter was a great host. A lot of time, love and effort has gone into creating a small nature haven in the suburbs of Darwin, with lots of native trees and the wildlife that they attract. Peter was very friendly and gave us lots of advice on what to do, where to eat and drink etc. I'd highly recommend staying here if looking to camp in the Darwin area

I wish we could have stayed longer. Pete was an amazing host and the property was really nice and not too far from Darwin. The bathroom and shower were beyond all expectations and I don't have a single complaint. If I'm ever in Darwin again, I know where I'll be staying!

Our stay here was great, Peter has thought of everything possible which made it a very accomodating and easy stay. Plenty of privacy with all of the native trees and work he's put in. The pool is also a great bonus!!

Lovely place, really a green oasis, very close to the busy downtown, but you feel in (a very well organized and beautiful part of) the bush!!! The swimming pool was great, amenities clean , host friendly ... What more to ask.

Excellent host and a beautiful place. Highly recommend. Nice little pool clean bathrooms great location. We were very happy with our stay definitely recommend if you want to feel like you’re in a remote place but still close to all the local amenities. 10 mins to the beach.

Pete's place is a little oasis in busy Darwin. I absolutely loved staying at this campsite it has everything you need - beautiful and clean amenities, a pool to cool down and the sites are very spacious and offer privacy. Pete's enthusiasm about his garden and the wildlife is beautiful and I appreciated how much work and effort he put into building such a nice place. Thank you Pete, will definitely stay again if in the area!

We had a fantastic 6 nights at Urban Retreat. Peter was a perfect host along with Daisy the dog. It was so nice to be amongst the beautiful 5 acres and also felt very secure. Definitely will be recommending to our friends

The site we had like many around us was very quite, unable to see other campers , if your van is set up with batteries and water then you are able to chose a no power/water site , the toilet and shower blocks x 2 are kept very clean , washing machines x 2, also available, Peter the host was very helpful taking rubbish away almost daily , making sure all was ok . The location dependent on Traffic was 15 to 22 mins to Darwin city . $33 by uber .At all time we felt safe as the place is fully secure with 6 foot fencing and electric gate . If coming to Darwin and enjoy camping and want to be close to the City i highly recommended this place , price was also very good .👍👍👍

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Urban Retreat and would very highly recommend it! The host Pete and Daisy the dog were very welcoming and informative and the amenities were terrific. The pool area and shady trees were lovely!

This Hip Camp is called an Urban Retreat because that is exactly what is!.. its a quiet secluded oasis in the middle of urban Leander, with sites surrounded by an array of trees that our host Peter has planted. The ammenities are motel quality, with a pool handy for cold dips on a hot day. And if need to know where to go or what to do, Peter is only too happy to share advice. Couldn’t recommend this place more highly.

Excellent site that met our specific needs . Quiet secluded and yet so close to all that Darwin has to offer. We have extended our stay twice !!! We are travelling with two small dogs and they are welcome too. Great hospitality by Pete !

What a great spot. Felt like we were staying with a friend. Nothing a bother. Very clean amenities and easy access to everything. Felt very safe knowing a locked gate is there. The property is full of trees and paths to keep everyone private. Extending our stay was not a problem and the communication with Pete was friendly and helpful. We would certainly come back. Love ❤️ love 🤎 love 💚

Peter welcomed us and guided us into our spot. There are lots of trees and little pathways winding through the property so you feel like you’re really in the bush - even though we were only 15 minutes from the city centre by car. He is very passionate about the trees and has them labelled them, with a bit of history behind their planting. We had a very private site. The two toilet/showers for campers were always clean and tidy. I would definitely recommend Pete’s place.

Such a great stay! A beautiful spot, you feel like your nestled away in the bush but such great proximity to everything you would want to do in Darwin. Pete’s knowledge of native plants and the land was really special, highly recommend.

A serene bush retreat really close to major shops and all Darwin has to offer. Pete is warm, welcoming and super organised. The sites are spacious, private and surrounded by over 1,000 native plants. Immaculate amenities and thoughtful extras—like set-up clotheslines complete with pegs, and a welcome pack full of local tips—make this a truly special place. Highly recommend!

We had a short stay to see the sights Darwin had to offer. Peter (host) provided us with some great local knowledge to help get the best from our stay. Fantastic location with modern amenities and as a bonus Miss Daisy (dog) there to greet us whenever we returned.
