Best for self-contained campers. There are no toilets, showers, or potable water at this Hipcamp.
Fernee Retreat is situated 14km from Adelaide River town and backs onto Litchfield National Park. Camping sites back onto a tropical rainforest with walks permitted through an active farming property. Caravans, camper trailers, tents, rooftops and motorhomes are welcome. As there is no power or toilet facilities guests will need to be self contained, take their waste with them and leave no trace. The Adelaide River township is approximately a 15-minute drive away for fuel, groceries, and a dump point. Batchelor is a 25-minute drive away, and Litchfield National Park is approximately 40 minutes away.

The short drive from Adelaide River was absolutely worth it. I had booked to stay 2 nights and when I arrived and found it so peaceful I booked a third. It was so peacefully quiet. There are mature tress across the sites that provide more than adequate shade. The ground had a covering of leaf litter giving the area a park like appearance, and provided a soft surface to walk barefoot and connected to the earth. Janet has created 2 short paths into the rainforest and what a surprise in there - a spring fed crystal clear creek with a gentle steady flow. The timing was perfect to stretch out in the hammock and watch thousands of butterflies or sit on the seat and relax with the sound of the running water, maybe read a book. I had a DMax and 6.5m van and had no issue at all with access. If you are looking for somewhere to stay around Adelaide River, give yourself a treat and stay here. I’m sure you will be pleased you did. Thanks Janet for sharing your gem. Michael
