Ellengowan Campground Private, peaceful and relaxing campground at Dundee Downs just 90 minutes from Darwin. 3 powered sites and large areas for unpowered campsites. Modern toilet and solar hot water shower block. Camp kitchen equipped with gas BBQ, fridge, dining and serving area. Pool fenced and paved spa area. Community fire pit, plenty of firewood. A boat wash area and a fish cleaning station is close by. (Ask us so we can turn the bore on for this use) The property backs onto the Mackenzie Arm of Bynoe Harbor, locally known as Six Pack Creek. The public boat ramp is a 5 minute drive away from the campground and is an ideal launching place to explore and fish the local waterways. Wash your boat and fillet your catch back at the campground. Nature enthusiasts can enjoy the unique flora and fauna. Don't forget your binoculars to view the variety of native birds species, with some on the endangered list! There are some very tall cycads and sand palms as well as many other unique species of native trees which can be observed along the designated walking tracks in areas which have not seen fire for many years. We suggest guests bring along their favorite repellent and wear covered footwear for exploring our bush walks. Dusk and dawn are the best times for wildlife viewing but also when insects are most active. Light-coloured, loose-fitting clothing and a hat helps guests stay cool and less attractive to 'critters' The campground is 8km off Fog Bay Road. Dundee Beach is 28.3km away and the Sand Palms Roadhouse is 23.7km from the campground. Our main camping season runs during the cooler months of the Dry season from April to September but we warmly welcome you during the off-season.

1 - Kookaburra

#1 Kookaburra - Powered Located in the central area of the campgrounds. A large grassed area suitable for Tents, RV's, camping trailers and caravans. An easy reverse park into the site give ample room to enjoy your own private area, close to the communal kitchen. Shaded from the afternoon sun, Kookaburra is one of the campgrounds favorite locations for holidaymakers and travelers alike. Evey year in the last of the dry season the Kookaburras nest in the hollow tree opposite to raise their young. A tap is located out the front of this site, connected to the irrigation ring and is usable when the bore is in operation.

2 - Black Cockatoo

#2 Black Cockatoo This powered site is close to the toilet and shower block and has a water hookup available from the pressure pump and tank. Black Cockatoo is spacious and ideal for RV's, camping trailers, tents or caravans. Either drive or reverse in to the site.

#3 Sunset - Powered Sunset site captures the sunset through a bush setting. Suitable for tents, smaller RV's, rooftop tents etc. and close to the toilet block and camp kitchen. No caravans or camping trailers on this site please as you will not be able to reverse in without damaging your trailer or the trees!

Grevillea Campsite

Grevillea Campsite This is a large, flat unpowered camping area where you can choose your own site and park your car within the natural bushland settings. Guests will have access to solar hot water showers, toilets just a short walk away. There are no hookups at this site but guests will have access to potable water in the communal area. There is a communal fireplace. Fire permits do not permit campfires in this site.
