Lake Bennett is a fresh water lake with amazing birdlife and wildlife. There are no saltwater crocodiles in the lake so it is a beautiful place to swim. Bring your canoe or kayak and go for a paddle for bird watching, fishing and a swim. I have a canoe, stand up paddle board and a kayak available for no extra cost. Lake Bennett Resort (can't be seen or heard from my place) is close by, 10 minutes by water or 5 minutes by road. The resort has food, drink and entertainment. The town of Batchelor is 20 minutes away for fuel and food supplies. Batchelor is the gateway to Litchfield National Park. Camping on my property requires campers to be fully self contained with their own camping gear and toilet/shower. Pets are welcome but they must be controlled so they do not harm any wildlife. Plenty of firewood is available but you must be very careful during the fire season. Please have plenty of water on hand and no fires during the day. Also make sure the fire pit is cold before leaving the site. Some camping locations are only accessible by 4 wheels drive, however some locations are accessible by 2 wheel drive via dirt tracks. Activities include: Swimming, paddling, fishing, sailing, bird watching, photography, bush walks, mountain biking easy to very hard.

    We loved how generous Greg was with allowing the boys to use the canoes and kayaks. They had a ball fishing, swimming and enjoy the lake. We found the ground very rocky for those prone to rolling ankles and it proved rather difficult digging a hole for the toilet. Beautiful, quiet spot, perfect to relax and enjoy some quality family time. We can’t wait to go back. Thank you Greg.

    We really enjoyed camping at the site. It was quiet and private. Host was very nice and welcoming. The kids really enjoyed the use of the pontoon to fish and the canoes. Will definitely book again.

    Great and friendly hosts who came and met us at the road. Camp site was fantastic and Greg had even collected some wood for us for the firepit - which was a nice touch, and saved us from heading out to collect some. Access to a swimming pontoon and canoe was perfect addition for the kids. Just a note - As with any spot close to the water, mozzies can be a little annoying. We expected this, and came armed with coils, spray, etc. Don't let this put you off booking a spot though. Just make a note to make sure you pack accordingly (just as you would with Central Australia and flies). Overall, this spot is a great location, and perfect for those looking for the self-contained bush camp experience, whilst still being close to Darwin! We had such a great time that we have already started talking about our next visit. Thanks again for having us.

    It was a really relaxing stay. Greg is super friendly and he let us use his pontoon boat during our stay. Lots of fun times were had on the boat. Will definitely be back if we are back in the area. High recommend.

    Fantastic spot
    Cockatoo Ridge Lake Bennett
    Had a great night staying here. Greg was a great host giving us a little tour of camping spots and letting us use his kayak/canoe to go exploring. Beautiful spot for a quiet getaway with the Lake Bennett Resort 2km down the road or a 10 minute paddle if you want a meal. We’ll definitely be back!
