Enchanting 2-Acre Asheville Oasis

Pros: Cute little room perched above their house with a nice deck below. It has lots of potential to be nicer. Cons: *The mattress and bedding were very uncomfortable (should definitely be the priority), the mattress was hard & the blanket was itchy. *The TV wouldn't work, I troubleshooted a little what might be the problem but no luck. *I froze all night because the heater they supplied wouldn't go above 55° making it very hard to sleep and ended up being why I left early at 630am so I could go warm up in my truck! *I felt like I was in a fish bowl; because its a small room with a wall of windows and a full window door with sheer curtains! *The floodlights were shining into the room all night also making it hard to sleep! *Hospitality wasn't there, coffee area was lacking! *The door wouldn't lock. I'm not a picky person but this room missed the mark on so many different points! I wish I could give a great review because this room definitely could be with a few changes!!

Great little lofty room for my partner and I on NYE. Warm, comfy beds and a magnificent view for the sunset. Lack of a toilet was annoying but nota deal breaker. Extremely kind hosting family.

Windmill Tent Site in Asheville

Gary was unbelievably kind and easy. The cottage was clean, warm, and had a really wonderful vibe to it. Flowers outside were immaculate. Just a very relaxing experience very close to everything in town. A gem. 10/10 would do again

Gary was a pleasant and friendly host. He very graciously offered use of the bathroom inside the salon if I needed it. He is very knowledgeable about the surrounding area and offered many great suggestions. The property itself was tucked away in a quiet neighborhood. Very highly recommend to those looking to stay close to Asheville on a budget.

Not at all clean.

The place had not been cleaned prior to my arrival. The bed sheets were gross, the pillows had stains and so did the towels. I slept on top of the bed with my own towel over the pillows. There were spills on the table that hadn't been cleaned up. Cobwebs everywhere and the floor hadn't even been swept. When I arrived, the bathroom smelled like it had just been used. It really seemed like someone living there just made the bed and left right before I got there. The grass outside was overgrown so you couldn't use the outdoor space. I left after one night even though I paid for two. Since I had to pay a cleaning fee I was expecting a clean place. Really gross.

Excellent experience

This place is absolutely wonderful and exactly as i expected it to be especially for the cost. The hosts were super friendly and very considerate and communicative people. Id stay here again and its in a super safe neighborhood.

There are some serious issues with this location in regard to privacy and safety. I have been refunded for my stay, but until these issues are resolved, I would not recommend to other campers.

Such a cute & cozy cottage in a prime location!! We had the best mountain weekend 10/10 would recommend. Incredible hiking, great food, and amazing drinks could not have wanted more!!!!

Funny little penthouse! Gary was super sweet and welcoming. Don’t be fooled, there is a toilet! Just have to walk to the garage/hair salon. Good place to say. Bring an eye mask as the curtains are sheer. Huge TV was also a plus!

Quick Snooze Haven

Gary was so hospitable and accommodating! We arrived after 10pm when we weren't able to get over favorite camping spot in Pisgah. Gary was happy to help us get situated even at that hour. Incredibly affordable, quick place to snooze on your mountain adventures. We packed up the next morning and headed right down the road for a delicious local brunch, since we were unexpectedly in foodie centric Asheville, before heading to DuPont State Forest. Thanks Gary!

I stayed here just as a place to crash one night, and it fit the bill for that purpose. However, as a solo female traveler with concerns for privacy and safety, I do have some (hopefully) constructive feedback. -As mentioned by previous reviews, there really does need to be some better curtains on the windows for privacy. The ones that are up are completely sheer, and some windows have nothing, making the inside visible from the property and the house next door. If you bring a camping toilet like the listing suggests, it’d be difficult to do your business inconspicuously. -The doorknob latch is flimsy and I had trouble getting the door to stay closed. At one point when I was getting something out of my car, my dog was able to get loose just by pushing the door open. The doorknob itself doesn’t lock. -The only lock is on the inside. It’s small and seems very easily breakable. If I left the premises there was no way to lock the door with my personal belongings inside. All that said, Gary was a great host. He was quick to reply to my questions and allowed access to a downstairs bathroom overnight. The property itself is lovely. I was in awe of the many beautiful plants and flowers. Kudos to whoever does the gardening!

Peaceful

A little deck repair to unit I booked. Other than that the rest of my experience was very peaceful and colorful. The garden is none stop interesting and very well maintained. Views were decent and I'm sure even better in the Fall. Definitely a bargain.

The Asheville spot was wonderful. The location was great. Gary let me back my little truck trailer rig in the the back yard and I had my own little corner. A little tricky to get into but this is a good place to for a small self contained camper rig like a van. I will be back to this place in the future.

Overall I had a good experience, the bed sheets were clean and the tiny home was cozy. With that being said, I didn’t feel very welcomed by the owner, and when I asked about bathrooms she said I would have to drive away and find a spot whenever I needed to use the bathroom. Keep in mind this is not a private spot and although there’s a nice yard, you are staying in a neighborhood not the forest.

Overall I enjoyed my trip but I felt the site description was not accurate. The shack was right next to the host's house and a neighbor's house. The windows offered decent views but there were no curtains so there was zero privacy. When I book through hipcamp I expect woods and privacy, this place had neither.

Gary was very nice and accommodating. The space heater kept me pretty warm all night and the TV with wifi was a welcomed addition after a few days on the road. Really close to downtown and plenty of shops.

Penthouse rocks!

The penthouse cabin is clean and stays warm. Gary is awesome! Love the property too and can't wait to come back to visit. It's unique and a really fun experience, wish I had more time there!
