"Willowbank" is a stunning 252 acre property located in the picturesque Karuah River valley with 1km of river frontage. The property has been in our family for 4 generations, being bought by Ian's great grandfather in the 1920's. We cater for guests that are looking to get back to nature and enjoy the great outdoors without feeling overcrowded! We want our guests to be happy and have the best experience possible. Why not follow us on Facebook @Willowbank Hipcamp and see what is happening on the farm and in our community! Located only 8 minutes drive from the historical town of Stroud which was settled by the AA Company in the 1820's as a food growing area. There are still many beautiful buildings from that period to explore. A dairy farm for many years, we switched over to beef around 15 years ago. Currently we run around 120 head of Angus and mixed breed cattle. Within 3 hours drive of Sydney and around an hour from the Barrington National Parks, Newcastle, Maitland, Forster and Nelson Bay, it makes it the perfect destination for a weekend getaway! We are offering 5 beautiful, partly shaded, camping sites along the pristine Upper Karuah River. All sites are separated for privacy and are all right on the edge of the river. You may get a visit from our horses, Dolly and Banjo and the cows and calves! Plenty of opportunities for bird watching, hiking, swimming, kayaking, fishing (in summer), star gazing or just relaxing. All sites are site only and no toilet or shower facilities are provided. You will need to bring your own camping toilet or self contained caravan/ camper (dump point is located in Stroud township) We hope to make your stay a pleasurable one with many happy memories made. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions. ***sorry no parties allowed*** Your hosts, Jo and Ian.

The Paperbarks
Great weekend-the paperbarks
Great weekend spent at Stroud Road on Joanne’s beautiful part of the world Lots of different places to camp depending on set up, river was delightful with tree canopy making it so great for the hot weather we had. Joanne was very friendly welcoming and informative. Easy to get to also!!

The Paperbarks Site 2
Our hosts Ian and Jo were very friendly and made us feel very welcome!!! Their property was easy to find. Beautiful spot by the creek although the recent heavy rain meant the water wasn’t clear. Still a refreshing swim though! Large green grassy area although groups with a few bigger vans might find it hard to all get a flat spot by the creek. The cicadas took awhile to get used to!

Long Flat
Gorgeous Vista!
Jo and Ian are lovely hosts and their property is simply gorgeous! The Longflat site has emerald green grass and is very well maintained. Despite the occasional shower coming through during our stay it was lovely to simply watch the beautiful vista of the surrounding hillside. Thoroughly recommend a stay at this one and I can imagine a winter camp would be sensational.

Long Flat
Jo and Ian were fabulous hosts on this lovely property. 'Long Flat' was exactly as described and presented immaculately. The river was flowing gently in the rocky shallows which was welcoming to cool off after a hot day. Peaceful and private and yet close enough to 'town' for picking up essentials or a bite to eat. Ian was even kind enough to take us for an ATV excursion of the pretty property. Thank you for sharing your piece of paradise with us.

Riverview
Willowbank is a beautiful property with some stunning scenery. We stayed at the Riverview site, it was very private and a perfect little oasis to relax by the river. Just what we were after. The sites were well maintained and Joanne was an excellent host, who gave us some recommendations for walking trails around the property and even supplied us some extra firewood.

The Paperbarks
Ahh, the serentity....
We had a wonderful time at Paperbarks- Willowtree. Beautiful campsite with private river access, lush well maintained grass, and super friendly hosts. Morning visits from resident horses Dolly and Banjo, gorgeous views from the ridgetop walk and complete peace and privacy. We will absolutely be back.
