Speak to us about using us for a working space for corporate or business trips, collaborations and more......... Watton Airstrip is a stunning property, nestled on the banks of the Macquarie River. Featuring an amazing rustic cabin, nine riverside campsites, along with paddock and bush sites, all 4WD accessible and two equally stunning 2WD accessible sites. You’ll share our spaces with kangaroos, wallabies, emus, echidnas, deer, platypus and more. Enjoy some optional extras, including Tammie's home made bread, farm fresh, free range eggs, or one of our range of grazing platters, home made jams or hot chocolate kits. Or pamper yourself with a Crystal reiki session, or tarot reading. The 2WD accessible sites feature spectacular views to the right, towards Mt Panorama and Mt Horrible and towards Mt Canobolas to the left. Lie back in your swag at night and let the star struck, velvety sky envelope you, or make a booking at the nearby Bathurst Observatory to see the stars up close. Each campsite offers its own unique features for you to enjoy and a hand crafted pit toilet is accessible to those camped along the river bank. Fish or swim in the river, ride your bikes, or set up camp and then head off on an adventure to the Goldfields at Ophir, or History Hill at Hill End via the Bridle Track. Better still, book into a pub crawl with Damo so you can lie back and enjoy the ride. There are plenty of opportunities for 4WDing and bushwalking in the local area. Fires are allowed (fire restrictions permitting). Wood can be collected from fallen wood around the property, or bring your own if you prefer. Pets are welcome for a one off fee per animal. We do ask that pets are supervised at all times and that they do not interfere with farm animals or local wildlife.

4WD Only Happy Camper

Perfect

We absolutely loved this place, it was by far the favourite place we stayed along our east coast trip. The host was great and the place was stunning, we hope to come back.

The Rapids 4WD Only

The Rapids - AMAZING

We had an amazing stay at Watton Airstrip (The Rapids). The location is stunning, with a peaceful atmosphere. The natural beauty of the area made it perfect for relaxing or exploring. The sound of the rushing water was incredibly calming, and we especially loved the visits from the resident horses. Being 20mins or so out of Bathurst makes it great and convenient if you need to stock up on much needed supplies. Tammy the Host was just lovely and very friendly. Highly recommend this spot —we can’t wait to return!

Highly recommended riverside campin

Beautiful. Treed pasture land on the banks of the Macquarie River. Sweet 10 minute 4x4 only hillside access road. One single drop toilet. Huge, well spaced camping areas. Friendly and welcoming owners. Highly recommended.

It was a beautiful spot. Damien and Tammie were lovely and very accomodating. The land was picturesque and the river easy to access from multiple spots (depending on where others had camped).

Fantastic Place

Beautiful location! Well maintained and grassy campsite was right next to the river, offering a peaceful and relaxing atmoshpere for all of us. Tammie and Damian were very welcoming and happy for a chat. We will be coming back.

Delightful bush spot with a view

Great spot up on the hill with a beautiful view. Nice and quiet with plenty of privacy. Hosts were very hospitable and welcoming. A wonderful spot i will gladly return to and recommend to anyone. 4wd only is no joke.
