Welcome to Vallis Oakes, your own slice of paradise nestled on over 300 acres, surrounded by the tranquil Oakes State Forest and the vibrant Gumbaynggirr National Parks. We’re delighted to share this special place with you! **What to Expect:** - **Natural Wonders:** Dive into the crystal-clear waters and be on the lookout for local wildlife like frogs, turtles, wedge-tailed eagles, and the beautiful Crimson Rosella. - **Adventure Awaits:** Discover a variety of activities including hiking trails, lookouts, bushwalks, and 4WD trails. Vallis Oakes is the perfect base for exploring the national parks and then relaxing by the fire under the stars. - **Self-Contained Campers Only:** To keep Vallis Oakes pristine, all campers must be fully self-contained. This means having your own toilet, water supply, and taking all waste with you when you leave. This requirement is non-negotiable to maintain the site's natural beauty. - **Flood Warning:** As the property is located on river frontage, it may be subject to flooding during heavy rain. Please check in with us 3 days before arrival to confirm current conditions. In case of flooding, a full refund will be issued, or an alternate campsite on higher ground may be available. - **Water Appearance:** While the photos showcase the stunning blue waters, please note that the water’s appearance may change after heavy rain. - **Campfires:** You are welcome to enjoy campfires in the designated fire ring, provided there are no local restrictions. **Additional Notes:** - **Access:** Plenty of space is available for caravans, camper trailers, and tents. We recommend using a 4WD or high-clearance 2WD vehicle due to possible water crossings and challenging road conditions after heavy rain. - **Amenities:** We do not have on-site amenities. Please bring all necessary supplies, including a camp toilet. It is essential to maintain the cleanliness of the site—no on-site toileting is allowed, and all waste must be removed upon departure. - **Phone Reception:** Please note that there is no phone reception at Vallis Oakes. However, if you require internet access, WiFi is available by the main cottage but must be arranged prior to arrival. - **Safety:** The waterhole is not fenced. Please supervise children closely at all times for their safety. We look forward to your visit and hope you enjoy everything Vallis Oakes has to offer! If you have any questions or need more information, feel free to contact us. Have a wonderful stay!

Vallis Oakes - Yellow Camp
Great spot can’t wait to return
Beautiful property. Quite remote which makes it special. About an hour from the main highway. Dirt road for about 30m and a couple of causeways to cross. Great spot to get away, swim, light a fire and warm the amazing stars and fireflies if you’re lucky enough which we were.. Love that there are only 2 campsites, that is what makes it so great. We stayed at yellow camp. Nice big grassy level spot. Great fire pit. Not as private as red camp but still quite secluded. You cannot see the other campsite as it is in a different location which is great. Lovely hosts!. Also the 45m drive up to Killecrankie lookout is a fun 4wd road and the view from the top of the ridge was amazing. Can’t wait to return to this campsite.

Vallis Oakes - Yellow Camp
Absolutely Beautiful!
One of our absolute favorite Hipcamp spots we've visited! We were lucky enough to spend a week at the Yellow Camp with our two dogs. You'll park on a beautiful green flat that sits parallel to a bubbling creek. Throughout the evening, you'll hear an array of different birds and the creek softly bubbling. We were fortunate to meet the resident dog, Banjo, who was a handsome and gentle-natured pup that enthusiastically wanted to show us to our campsite! The hosts were exceptional and understanding of one of our dog's reactivity, which was extremely thoughtful. They were kind and informative about their property and showed a high level of care and organisation. Given that the closest reception spot was about 40 minutes to an hour away, the Wi-Fi at the firewood stand was very useful for quick check-ups on essentials. We were also lucky to go down to Red Camp, as it was not occupied, and we spent time playing in the swimming hole. Both our dogs and we loved our time in the clear blue water there. If you're looking for a more secluded spot, go with Red Camp! Well worth the stay! 10/10 recommend.

Vallis Oakes - Red Camp
A slice of paradise!
Vallis Oaks is an incredible place for a relaxing weekend. We were lucky enough to be their first campers and had an amazing time in their Red Camp, finding a spot next to the crystal clear swimming hole. We enjoyed snorkelling, admiring the clear water and tadpoles before soaking up the sun (cocktail in hand) on the beautiful grassy camp ground. Sammy is very accommodating, sharing lots of directions and local national park advice. We were also lucky enough to be visited by Billy the cow! Such a special place and we are already planning our next visit with some friends and family. See you soon!
