One of the nicest hipcamps we have stayed at!! We had the most peaceful night at Sammy’s property. Crystal clear waters and quiet bushland that was exactly the refresh we needed. It was a pleasure to meet Sammy and his family including their beautiful dog Banjo. It is clear that they take great pride in their slice of paradise and we were grateful to experience it for a night. Sammy was the perfect host and made sure to explain exactly how to access the property.
Thank you again for being kind and understanding about our little pup Hank not being dog-social on our trip. We felt completely welcome and can’t wait to return!

Redcamp is as beautiful, if not more beautiful, than it appears in the photographs. Even though it rained during our stay it didn't stop us from enjoying a swim in the beautiful crystal clear waters of the swimming hole. My 3 year old granddaughter loved playing with the river pebbles and we enjoyed the grassy open space. No bindis or weeds, great for running around barefoot, great fire pit too. Make sure that you take everything you need as Bowraville is a good hour away. The hosts were friendly and welcoming as too was their dog Banjo who visited often. Firewood is available to purchase on arrival, so no need to carry it with you.

great spot weather was not the best and recent floods had left the property a bit smashed.
Sammy was a great bloke and we had a good chat with him and don't forget to meet Banjo Sammy's dog he is a beautiful fella and turned up to play with out pups a few times and yes I did teach him to lick clean our plates, sorry Sammy.

Red Camp is spectacular. You get the whole space to yourself. It’s completely private and surrounded by stunning views and a beautiful creek with the crystal clear water. Sammy was a great host with clear communication. The $10 a crate firewood was helpful and plenty available. Looking forward to coming back and enjoying this piece of paradise again soon.

Huge grassy camping area with complete privacy. We swam in the crystal clear river all day and had more than enough room on the mowed areas for cricket and soccer practice. There is chopped wood from the stall for a fire each afternoon. The cows and calves came and said hello each morning which the kids thought was pretty cool too. Lovely hosts we will definitely be back again.

Everything about this place was amazing it is some of the most gorgeous country we have visited.
The camp spot (Red Camp) which we had all to ourselves had been slashed with green grass right on one of the clearest water holes I have swum in.
Communication with the host was on point.
In short one of our favourite Hipcamps so far.
definitely be back real soon.

Sammy & his wife were super star hosts. Their property is beautiful. It backs onto forests, the water running through is the clearest of clear for glorious swimming & watching of the little turtles. Black cockatoos, white cockatoos, Willy wagtails - the place is paradise.

The property was beautiful, so peaceful and quiet. The water was ridiculously clear and right next to the campsite. Massive camp site. No phone reception which is perfect to switch off and enjoy the company of friends or yourself. Would highly recommend. We will be back there for sure.

We loved our time at red camp! Peaceful private site with a gorgeous clear swimming hole shared with lots of beautiful bird life, especially kingfishers. The long dirt road in was all part of the adventure! The directions provided before hand were clear to find our site. Grateful to Sammy for sharing her special place with us, we will be back!

This place is absolutely stunning. Beautiful, deep, clear swimming hole, absolute privacy, a stunning waterway (the Nambucca River) wrapping around the whole camp ground, and a very well cared for site. Sammy and Shana were brilliant at communicating when it appeared that we may not be able to get across the river for our visit due to recent rain and it was lovely to be greeted by their doggo Banjo when we arrived. Our favourite spot so far! We will definitely be back!

This is our second visit to Red Camp and we absolutely have loved it both times. Being totally off grid and having such a large private site and swimming hole makes it one of our favourite hipcamps. We will definitely be visiting again.

Had the most relaxing and chill weekend with my husband and pooch. Crystal clear rivers - never knew this even existed in NSW. What a gem of a place and so lucky that Sammy shares this with us.
The swimming was perfect, the site mowed and cleared. Bring everything you need as no facilities. Only main issue was the March flies, so bring whatever can help keep them away. Can’t wait to come back!

Valllis Oakes red camp was a fantastic camp site for 4wd vehicles . The crystal clear swimming hole was perfect for camping beside and cooling off in the summer heat . Great drive in good road and 4 small creek crossings that had firm bases.
The surrounds had beautiful trees and vegetation….. very relaxing . We will be keen to come back thanks Sammy

This was a terrific campsite quite remote but the road in was fine . There were 4 small creek’s crossings but very easy to cross with firm bases
The surroundings were beautiful and the swimming hole crystal clear and perfect to keep us entertained and cooled off in the summer heat . We had two 4wd vehicles in our group and we had an all wheel drive campervan . We camped on the top flat as it was a 4wd only camp site and camping on the top flat worked out ok for us . We contacted Sammy a few days before to check on access and were very happy with the communication and advice . We would love to come back and will bring our 4wd next time as camping next to the water hole was the best site . We had total privacy and really enjoyed the large mowed space to camp

Certainly a hidden little gem this camp site is. The journey there is slow but when you arrive the back drop is beautiful. Sammy’s hipcamp is a great place to go if you want a peaceful getaway. Nice little swimming hole to camp alongside with a spot of camp fire gazing at night.

We loved camping at Red Camp! The river at the campsite was absolutely beautiful. There was plenty of grassed area for our larger group.
We didn’t want to leave! Hope we can come back soon for another visit.

Sam and his family are lovely so was their dog and cat , it was nice to meet them all .We also got to try some of the kids home grown garlic. Thanks guys.

Vallis Oakes is such a beautiful property. About 1 hour from Macksville as we were towing. We stayed at Red Camp, right on the river and the big swimming hole, with crystal clear water. Amazing waking up to the sounds of running water. 100% would recommend this Hipcamp. One of our favourites we’ve been to!

Beautiful spot & pristine river. So private & off grid. Excellent & responsive hosts. We camped with 2 other families & there is ample flat space. The only small issue was not much shade to camp under so you will definitely need a vehicle or tent with a good awning.

So so beautiful. Host was really lovely. Perfect spot if you're travelling with kids and (friendly) dogs. They have a dog that is friendly and occasionally came down for a play with our dogs which was nice for our dogs to have a friend to play with and burn off some energy. Fresh water creek was absolutely beautiful, very cold, but well worth pushing past on a hot day. A few red bellies around, none came anywhere near the campsite, but be mindful if you are walking around the property. Cicadas and march flies were very full on, definitely prepare for this if you can. Outside of the seasonal spikes of cicadas and march flies, this would be an absolute prime camp spot. You could get here with an AWD but 4WD probably best as there are some crossways you need to pass through on the property. Very very remote which is what we wanted. No phone reception at all. Overall, lovely spot, we will be back again! Next time we will just prepare for cicadas and march flies.
