PECAN TREE GROVE, RIDGE & SURROUNDS
Creek camping
We had the best getaway at Tom's property. Perfect location right next to the creek and Tom was the best host making sure everyone was looked after. We are looking forward to staying again soon and camping in a different area.

PECAN TREE GROVE, RIDGE & SURROUNDS
Spectacular Place
This is not the first time we have stayed here and defiantly won't be the last. Tom is a great host and we highly recommend taking the time to visit. It is an off grid place but he does provide portable toilets, so take your own shower if you need one for long stays. It's very close to Pottsville if you need to go into town for supplies yet feels remote when relaxing on the property. the views are absolutely spectacular from the top of the hill and worth the effort to take it in. Tom comes around to check on you and you're able to get firewood from him at a cost if you need it, there is fire pits throughout the property so easy to find good spots to set up. He has cows on the property which roam free so be mindfully and respectfully of this as it's a great experience especially if you have kids. take plenty of rubbish bags with you so you can take your rubbish with you and keep it clean for the next time you visit. We had phone reception which was good when its needed but it's definitely a place that makes you want to step away from the connection to the outside world and just enjoy the serenity. Hope you will enjoy your stay as much as we do as we will continue to go back to this beautiful place.

PLATYPUS CREEK
Wide open spaces and relaxation
This place has lots of wide open spaces where you can set up. Whether by the creek or up on the ridge you are sure to have a relaxing time. Ten minutes drive to Pottsville and the beaches. Tom is a great host, checking in every afternoon to see if everything was okay. Cannot recommend this place highly enough, one of the best hipcamps we have stayed at.

PLATYPUS CREEK
We wouldn’t recommend this site
We stayed at Platypus Creek, which was essentially an open field right by the road. The view included a house across the street, shipping containers on the property, an empty shed, porta-loos, and a trampoline—definitely not the serene bush escape we were hoping for. For $60 per couple per night, I would also expect some basic amenities like running water, onsite bins, or a proper toilet block. Instead, there were only small, unserviced porta-loos that went unattended for maintenance, cleaning, or water refills during our three-day stay at Sleepy Hollow, becoming increasingly unpleasant as the days went by. The rules page provided after booking, which is more of an information dump about the property, is quite off putting for tone, filled with grammatical and spelling errors, repeated information, and lengthy explanations. There were also numerous inconsistencies throughout. The walks mentioned throughout comms was really just the opportunity to meander around the owner's cattle farm which was littered with campers. The location is also quite far from any national parks or attractions if you do want to go on any hikes or do sight seeing. Typically, I would choose to stay in a national park, surrounded by nature, with well-maintained drop toilets and a variety of purposeful walking trails—all at less than half the cost for a much more enjoyable trip. The owner was attentive and visited daily to offer sale of firewood.

PECAN TREE GROVE, RIDGE & SURROUNDS
Camping on Tom’s place was awesome. He set us up in a private area right next to the creek. Would happily recommend and I’ll be back.

PECAN TREE GROVE, RIDGE & SURROUNDS
Loved tent camping on Tom’s Land. The views were stunning, and the directions were easy to follow. The kids had a great time. Our only concern was the condition of the toilets—they weren’t up to standard. While we weren’t expecting luxury, basic cleanliness would have been appreciated.
