Wind through the picturesque sugarcane fields of South Ballina where you will find us on our 60 acre property with spectacular ocean views, beautiful native bushland and Australian wildlife. Sugar Beach Ranch is one of the most secluded treasures in the Northern Rivers, only 40 mins from Byron Bay NSW and within 30 mins to Ballina, Bangalow and surrounding scenic waterfalls. The property offers a two-bedroom bungalow and a secluded campsite for self-contained campers, in addition to our other variety of services including retreats, equine therapy, weddings and venue hire. Our property is surrounded by the crystal clear ocean, a beautiful rural outlook and rainforest walks. Sugar Beach Ranch offers you a private and picturesque beachfront experience. Simply put it's ‘Nature’s Playground’. Sugar Beach Ranch is a special place... a place of relaxation and reflection. We want guests to enjoy the break away from the hustle and bustle of daily life. Wake up to songs of native birds. Bring your own horse, guitar, or your writing book and loll away the hours nurturing your soul in paradise. All guests have shared access to the 15m resort-style magnesium pool and direct beach access from the property. We are a wildlife sanctuary and an operating farm with horses, chickens, ducks, pigeons and a peacock. There are dogs on the property to protect the chickens and other animals from predators, so please don’t bring any pets of your own. Enjoy Sugar Beach Ranch with your horse, bring them along for the holiday, and plenty of beach and trail rides. Paddock accommodation available. As we are located in the secluded and sleepy cane fields of South Ballina there is limited access to shops, cafes, restaurants, etc. The Burns Point Ferry is the best way to get to us, it runs from 5:30am until 12.30am daily, consistently running back and forth. An approx. 8min journey each way and costs $.00 each way, payable by credit card only. So you can easily go into Ballina town for all shops, cafes, restaurants, etc. If the ferry isn't for you, you can drive to Ballina via Wardell on River Drive. The bungalow is located approx. 25m from the main residence, and the campsite is located approx. 300m from the main residence tucked away in the paddocks and forest. We are onsite and available if needed. Sugar Beach Ranch is an operating farm with staff onsite caring for animals and maintaining the grounds. All care is taken to ensure minimal disruption to guests.

Sugar Beach Ranch sits on 60 acres and has a roomy, family orientated camping area for you to enjoy peace, privacy and idyllic country life. We welcome self-contained campers who bring their own camping shower. On the campsite there is a compostable toilet and access to drinking water. This is a private campsite, only one group of campers at a time. Maximum privacy! Bring your fishing gear, there is direct access to the beach from the campsite, or go on a short drive to the Richmond River. Depending on the time/weather can review the option of camp fires with each guest. Guests have shared access to the 15m resort-style magnesium pool and direct beach access from the property. We are a wildlife sanctuary and an operating farm with horses, chickens, pigeons and a peacock. There are dogs on the property to protect the chickens and other animals from predators, so please don’t bring any pets of your own. Enjoy Sugar Beach Ranch with your horse. Bring them along for the holiday, we are right on the beach and there are lots of trail rides. Paddock accommodation available - add in the "Extras" section. There may be instances where the pool is not available, we will notify you of this prior to your stay.

The Beach Bungalow is the ideal getaway with your friends, family or as a romantic getaway with your loved one. The bungalow boasts 2 large rooms, both with ensuite bathrooms and a large sun-drenched deck to unwind and relax... and watch the whales breaching from May until October. The Bungalows include: - King-size beds in each room (which each can be changed into 2 single beds at your request) - 2 bathrooms - 2 bar refrigerators - Webber BBQ - Stovetop cooker, microwave and wash sink - Coffee machine, kettle, toaster in each room - TV with DVD player in each room - Indoor and outdoor dining areas - Deck with ocean views - Access to 15m resort-style magnesium pool - Powered pool cabana with larger BBQ, ideal for dinner or additional guests (additional fees may apply for extra guests) ** Please note: Our 2 bedroom Bungalow is interconnected, we will never take 2 different bookings at the same time. So by booking 1 room you are supplied with both rooms by default. Prices change to seasonal availability. A beachfront paradise

Sugar beach ranch is a really special place. Right on the beach with gorgeous forest and horse paddocks surrounding. The campsite is lovely with nice shady trees, toilet and water. I took my horse for a horse stay which was awesome for sunrise and sunset rides. It’s a nice spot with a horse or without. The pool is lovely too. Hosts were lovely and helpful. Highly recommend!

My partner and I stayed here for a week, and it was such a peaceful and relaxing getaway. We were surrounded by beautiful horses and treated to stunning sunrises and sunsets each day. We spent long days at the beach, then cooled off with a swim in the pool—it was perfect! I’d highly recommend this spot to anyone looking for a quiet and scenic escape. Thanks so much, Stevey!

Wow! Just us, the horses and the beach. Met Stevey the 1st day. Warm and welcoming and I must say a big thanks to you Stevey for sharing your little spot of paradise. The camp spot was flat, grassy and private. Clean toilet provided and fresh water that you can hook your van up to if you want (we didn't). At night it's just you and the horses. Then day time all the friendly horse people are tending to their passions and giving you a friendly hello. Then to top it off you grab your Esky and fishing rod and head to the beach 500 metres away. Patting the horses along the way. When you get to the beach you are virtually the only one there. This spot is definitely in our top 3. We will be back with family and friends for sure.

Nice, secluded campsite surrounding by trees and horses. A short stroll to the main house and shared pool and then another few minutes to the beach. The wind was crazy when we were there so we ended up driving 10min into Ballina for protected beaches which were nice. We didn't get to meet the host but he helpers and kids were very friendly. Thanks for having us.

Sugar Beach Ranch is a must!!!!! Wow, we were blown away by this stay, our fave Hipcamp stay by far. So peaceful secluded, tidy, friendly and welcoming. The whole experience was unbelievable and the pool is divine. Our day was perfect and we all left feeling very relaxed and rejuvenated. All of the staff on the ranch were very accommodating and very friendly to our two small children that absolutely loved going and seeing the horses every morning. Could not recommend it high enough. Thank you so much for having us!

Incredible location! Own private camping spot next to beautiful horses! Only a 5 min walk to the beach which was awesome. The hosts were super friendly and helpful. Bring your own firewood :)

What a brilliant spot! Stevey was such an accomodating host who was very flexible with options for us and the horses, catering to us when we arrived. Stevey was considerate around horse needs/size as to what paddock was offered and had a wonderful range of accomodation options. We felt extremely welcome and able to enjoy her beautiful property straight away! The location and facilities were absolutely amazing. Right on the beach with a fantastic pool and cabins for us to enjoy. We highly recommend!

OMG this place is awesome!!! Such a great setup for either a luxury or camping stay. We came with our horses for a 3 night stay. We had booked in for camping however due to the aftermath of cyclone Alfred the grounds were waterlogged so Stevey (our host) gave us a free upgrade to a bungalow. So kind and generous. We had an awesome getaway so well equipped & only footsteps (or should I say hoofsteps) to the beach. Soaking in the pool at the end of each day was an added bonus! Highly recommend for anyone looking to get away from it all. Thanks Stevey ❤️

We had two vans set up for the week. Loved that it was so open, yet secluded with the trees. Lovely breeze even on the hottest days. The toilet takes a little getting used to, but when everything is there you get used to it. We had a portable shower, but often just ran the hose and washed under it. Loved seeing the horses and being able to just sit back and relax of an evening. The walk to the beach was a little daunting for me (I use crutched and going up the sand dunes was a little harder. the sand underfoot was scorching) but once there, the water was amazing. Cooling off in the pool was nice and then just heading back to camp to relax

An amazing property. The campsite is very private - has water and an extremely clean and well kept compost toilet. Although you feel like you are miles from anywhere, a beautiful pool and the ocean beach is a 5 minute walk from camp. We were there in the middle of summer school holidays and had the beach pretty much to ourselves every day - great for relaxing walks, exploring and fishing. Stevey's communication was excellent - will definitely be back!

Had a quiet spot all to ourselves only a few hundred meters from a beautiful beach with clear blue refreshing water, sand either side as far as you can see. Lots of crabs running along and popping back into their homes, spotted some fish and pippies on the waters edge. Had the lovely owner bring us some of their very own grown sugar bananas with was so thoughtful. Quite a few horses to pat and wake up to in the morning and the kids loved watching the chickens road the grounds. Great place and very friendly family, will definitely stay again

We loved the peace and quiet of sugar beach ranch. The pool was awesome, and the free range chickens and peacock wandering around made it feel like a real country stay. Stevey was a very accommodating and friendly host. Thanks for a great stay!

Stevey was a wonderful host with an amazing property perfect for a getaway oasis, just a short drive to Ballina if you feel the need to grab a bite to eat at one of the many restaurants but once your back on the ranch feels like your in your own little slice of paradise. my toddler loved the whole range of friendly animals freely roaming around the property and having a ledge to stand on in the massive pool made it perfect for a great family holiday. walking distance to your own personal beach shared only with horses (and their riders) topped it right off. Recommend everybody tries Steveys to-die for banana bread, you won’t regret it

What can I say? Absolutely stunning property right on the beach. Stevey is a dead set legend. She went the extra mile and offered us a spot on higher ground due to wet weather. That's the kind of person she is. A ripper property to relax and reset. Sunrises were unreal. We had km's of beach to ourselves. The swimming pool was heaven too. Mr Peacock (the pet peacock) was very handsome...a show stopper. Free range eggs were insane from very happy chickens. If you have been stressed and are looking to find yourself again, do yourself a favour and book Sugar Beach Ranch. Do it now!

Such a beautiful place. So secluded. Not very often you get the beach and horses in one. Not to mention all the bird life. The me at free range chickens ever. Get some eggs and definitely some banana bread. Stevey went out of her way to accommodate me. So appreciate her caring nature. Highly recommended.

Stevie’s property is magnificent, the beach was of course the highlight, miles of waves and white sand, the pool was also a hit with the grandchildren and was great for swimming when it got windy at the beach. They also loved the peacock and the visiting chickens. We had horses with us and they had a decent paddock, not just a horse yard. The weather was forecast to be nasty on the day we arrived, high winds and lots of rain so Stevie upgraded us from the secluded camping spot to a paddock up near the house. She’s a brilliant host, we found she just made everything stress free and easy.

Lovely spot! Easy to find using their directions, lovely spacious paddock if you want to spread out in the sun, and lots of forested patches for a bit more privacy. Great flat grassy surface was awesome for the tent, didn’t have to clear a thing. Great access to a lovely sandy secluded beach, great spot for a weekend getaway, and the hosts are lovely and generous with their time.

Sugar Beach Ranch was an amazing camp spot. Super easy to find, camping area is open so easy for our van and big 4wds. Stevey was super accommodating. The ranch was the perfect mix of bush and beach. The kids loved the horses and having the freedom to ride their bikes. We were lucky enough to be there when they had a new foal. Thankyou so much for such an amazing stay.
