Best for self-contained campers. There are no toilets, showers, or potable water at this Hipcamp.
We are located just 30 minutes from Tenterfield, an historic town in the rolling New England region. Here you will find a superb wilderness. Splitters Swamp Creek runs out of the hills, crystal clear water pours over the very beautiful granite rocks - creating a stunning waterfall and a shallow pool at the bottom. It then meanders gently down the valley surrounded by timber. Visitors are welcome to walk a distance exploring the granite rock formations in and around the creek. The campsite is located in a very private location, surrounded by a mix of vegetation and tall trees. There is a variety of native wildlife around, including bird life and a variety of wallabies. The native flora is beautiful, too. In town you will find shops and suppliers for all your camping needs. While you're there, check out the heritage architecture, great cafes, interesting shops. If you're up for an adventure further afield, the nearby national parks are perfect for outdoor adventures, from bushwalking to swimming and you can take the Boonoo Boonoo Falls walking track to a waterfall that drops 210 metres into a gorge, and enjoy eye-popping panoramas in Bald Rock National Park. Got there and people were all set up on our site. Never again. Great suggestion to the host. PUT UP CAMP SITE SIGNS. IE SITE 1 and SITE 2. Payed for 3 nights!!!

I love this place. It was my second time coming here, and I hope to come back many more times. I'd like to encourage all future campers to take a few minutes at the end of your trip to pick up as much rubbish as you can find. Leave it better than you found it, and let's keep this beautiful spot in good condition <3

Bush camp next to waterfall

Perfect private spot for an off grid bush camp experience . We camped in a tent and it was pretty with plenty of potential spots. If you need solar you’d be able to set up in a small clearing for sun. .Grass was neat, a few cow pats but that’s to be expected. The site is next to a waterfall that would be lovely in Warmer months but even in winter the sound is therapeutic. There were lots of visiting kangaroos enjoying the creek which freaked us out at first The site feels very remote and private, has a couple of campfire spots which we needed at minus 1 degree! We were the only campers and didn’t see anyone at all in the 24 hours we were there. Lovely spot about 30 minutes from Tenterfield where we headed in the morning for fresh croissants and coffee at the bakery. Love this area and there is so much to see and do in the region that we will be back…. national parks, wineries, cafes, lots of small towns to explore.

What a magic spot! We were super lucky to have the spot to ourselves! Although spooked by gunshots from a nearby property late at night, I’d highly recommend this site! If you can brave the cold, the waterfall plunge is a great Hangover cure….

Stayed here for one night, and the location is absolutely beautiful – couldn’t ask for a better spot. Unfortunately, our experience wasn’t quite as relaxing as we’d hoped. In the late afternoon, someone started shooting nearby, which freaked out our dogs. Then the next morning, while we were trying to enjoy breakfast, we had to deal with loud 4WDs tearing around the campsite, plus a full-on family photoshoot above the waterfall, staring straight down at us. It honestly felt like we were in a busy state forest campsite instead of a spot we’d actually booked and paid for. Such a stunning place, but it didn’t feel respected as a private camping area. Would be amazing with a bit more peace and privacy.

We loved real camping with no power or reception right along the running creek no more than ten metres from the little waterfall area where the kids and dogs had great fun. We had two vehicles which fit comfortably on the flat area. No one else was around and it was bliss! Great escape from the screen time and hussle. Plenty of firewood around to collect, this is a hidden gem. We most definitely will be returning! Thank you

Beautiful spot, so peaceful camping right beside the waterfall/creek with lots of wildlife. Kids had so much fun exploring the creek and the waterfall. 10/10 recommend this place 🙌🏽

Site 1 - Splitters Swamp Creek Waterfall
I have been to Splitters' Creek campsite on a few occasions and had a most enjoyable time with friends from overseas and with family. However, the last time 12 - 14 January 2025, we were awakened at around midnight by rifle shots. earlier that day we had sen spent 303 cartridges on the dirt road near the campsite. This is not a good activity to have been happening when there are visitors with kids and family nearby. if an incident occurred there would be uproar. I am unsure whether the shooters were members of the property owners' family or friends, or possibly uninvited visitors. In any case, there is no place for theis activity on a property open to the paying public. The danger signs are eberywhere. I will not be returning to this splendid property, unfortunately.

We were very disappointed with this Site. We had booked the site many months before and had contemplated booking both sites, however we didn't. In hindsight we really should have because there were campers already at our site when we arrived. There was no suitable second site. We tried for many hours to contact the host. We tried trying to find another hipcamp close by but as it was the long weekend, there was only 1 hipcamp available, which in turn turned out to be owned by the same host. When our host eventually returned our call we were told we could stay at this new site. When arriving there, it was on the side of the road, we could not get far enough off the road as there were stockpiles of gravel and pushed up mounds of fallen trees. In my opinion this is because it was actually crown land. Our time and our money are very precious to us and it was devastating to have to leave and travel 300kms home as we had no where to go for our much needed long weekend break. Communication is very very poor, the host was virtually uncontactable, the sites and descriptions are misleading. We have done a lot of hipcamping and have never had any issues like this before. I would not recommend.

Awesome secluded grassed camp site, only suitable for one single camp site. Directions to site provided are clear, after 3 klms from the Spliters Swap Creek Causeway when you see a deliniator post in a tree the site is directly on the left. Heaps of firewood. Water is fresh and clear. Mobile reception 100m up hill from site. We would recommend this site and intend the return.

I just had noone in the camp ground except me and directions to camp area was clear but it was not easy to find the place for me.

Great little spot, very large caravans may find it difficult for a level. Little difficult to find, not an overly used camp-site, probably needs signposting as the vehicle tracks were overgrown and we couldn't see the site down the hill. Definitely recomended a 4wd to get to one of the sites.

Absolutely beautiful campsite, right next to a little waterfall. We saw kangaroos, wallabies, and even an Echidna! The creek was quite dry but the dogs had a little paddle in the water that was there and we had a great time exploring up and down the creek bed. The provided firewood was a lovely inclusion and the campsite is well taken care of. We loved the privacy and the dogs had a blast. Will definitely visit again!

Another beautiful stay at the waterfall. Camp site is very clean and waterfall running enough to sit under it and cool down. Crystal clear as always. A lovely little piece of heaven, thanks Elizabeth.

Lovely little get away by a small stream. Although it ha# been dry there was enough of a waterfall to have a refreshing shower and splash aroundd for others with small kids Plenty of birdie and a lovely small green area to camp at We enjoyed our few days getaway without too many distractions. Phone service a km back from camp if needed

Overall very nice secluded spot. But the area is not big enough for the 2 sites they have listed as both listings saying the same thing. If someone else booked the other site it doesn't feel as special. Just keep in mind the 2 sites are not signed so first in best dressed.

A beautiful little gem, great place for a peaceful getaway, the camp site is located right by the water fall and the stream cuts around behind your camp making for a nice outlook as you relax and enjoy the view. I enjoyed the sounds of the massive frog population as I was going to sleep.

Was super nice and peaceful mostly as described and decently easy to find when following the directions provided Bonus points for the firewood available close by, however the waterfall and creek seemed like it’s been dry for a long time so there wasn’t actually a swimming spot or waterfall available. Hopefully some rain comes and fills it up again soon. The people on the property gave us a nice friendly wave when we did run into each other but for the most part we were completely isolated

Very nice little spot beside the creek, quiet and a long way from the main road so no noise, lots of trees and birds, kangaroos and as it is a working farm a few cattle and some beautiful horses on the drive into the property. A little dry when I stayed but still had a careful fire. Met Elizabeth out for a horse ride and she was very friendly. Thanks for the stay.
