We loved our stay at in both the barn room and shipping containers. Clean and well equipped kitchen and shared bathroom. Scenic with great views and surrounds. Even with a group of campers in tents sharing the facilities it worked out well. Family friendly.

A lovely escape

Lovely spot on a beautiful landscape; just the quiet escaped that we needed. The grass was nicely mown on arrival and enjoyed all the additional blankets to keep warm.

A beautiful break from Sydney chaos

My family, our dog and some close friends drove down from Sydney to Shepherds Rest for a nice long weekend get away, and honestly aside from the wind deciding it wanted to party - it was such a beautiful area. The local fauna gave a symphony of sounds to wake up to, along side the crisp, fresh air. Jacqui’s property has a communal area with a cozy kitchen, clean bathroom space, seated bbq space and fire pits. Jacqui is a super wholesome and lovely host, who is more than willing to try and help out for anything you need, we were greeted by her and her little shadow Brookie, a cattle dog who just wants to love you and check in on you. If you’re wondering if Shepherd’s rest is worth the visit (or the drive, if you’re from Sydney) I can with confidence 100% say for certain. Just make sure to pack for the weather in the cooler months, cause it can get really cold of a night time. Thanks again for having us, Jacqui. :)

Shepherd's Rest is a magic little spot. We stayed in the Barn Room and it was so comfortable and cozy... Not that we were in it much! The property and amenities are awesome, so much secure space for the kids to roam, a beautiful bathroom (love the bath) and gorgeous little kitchen. The animals are very curious and friendly (especially Squashy the llama!) and our dog got on really well with Jacqui's own sweet doggo. Jacqui was an exceptional host, so friendly, helpful and accommodating. We can't wait to plan our next trip back!

Beautiful site (& host!) Squashy the Llama is the first to greet you, so friendly! Goats kept kidding around. Sunrise & sunset overlooking the dam is so serene. Camp fire set-up was great. Host provided extra blankets (greatly appreciated) to sleep under the blanket of stars. You see so much in the night sky from there. Bring a telescope! Great comms from host, clear directions. Whole experience was so brilliant that we spent a lot less time exploring Canberra to spend more time at Shepherd's Rest, Mt Fairy. And we saw the water in Lake George!

Barn room stay and animals

Really enjoyed my stay out in the nature and with animals. I would recommend this place 100% and Jacqui is really wonderful host. She genuinely cares and will provide a great stay. I felt like this was my second home.

A beautiful spot & wonderful host!

We had a ball at Shepherds Rest. The shipping container was a cosy little space for our family of five and the kids loved exploring the land and visiting the goats and lama. This spot was well equipped with all things needed for a camping trip with the family, fire pits, camp kitchen and the cutest little bathroom. Jacqui was the perfect host, ensuring we were comfortable and going above and beyond during our time. We will be visiting again!

We had an amazing stay and can’t wait to go back. Beautiful outlook from site #1, watching the sunset over the hills. The kids loved getting to know all the goats and Squashie, the super friendly Llama. Even during the busiest time (Easter) it wasn’t crowded, the facilities were very clean and well looked after. Jacqui is a fantastic host and very easy going.

Jacqui was very welcoming and helpful (even messaged us when we left to let us know she was happy to come help us if we got stuck in on our backpacking adventure). The bathroom/shower is a real bonus and great to have a fully functioning kitchen. Grounds are decent size so campers were well spaced out.

Jacqui was a wonderfully friendly host who consistently checked in to make sure everyone was comfortable throughout our stay. Having access to a small kitchen and fridge was a huge plus, and the bathroom was well maintained the entire time. However, if you're planning to visit during a busy period like Easter or a long weekend, keep in mind that one bathroom shared between around 25 people can be a challenge. We often had to wait for the toilet or shower, which was a bit inconvenient.

I love this campsite, the facilities are nice, and the landlord is very friendly. When it’s too cold at night she lend us the blankets and when we are waiting beside the bathroom she shared the hot cross bun. We enjoyed very leisure time at this campsite

I often camp on Jacqui's sites and I always loved our visit! Jacqui is a kind and friendly host and her camping sites are well managed. There is stunning bathroom (shower and flush toilet) and nice kitchen which can come very handy! I definitely recommend and definitely going back soon 😊

Perfect getaway

I really loved camping at Shepherds Rest! Jacquie is an amazing host and I would honestly come back to just chat with her. Loved meeting the llama and goats as well. Perfect place for a short getaway from Canberra and Sydney. Also got along with the other campers, still very spacious. For those who love photography, a great place to capture the Australian bush.

Quiet short stay

Jacqui was a lovely, friendly host. The amenities were great, especially the bathroom "hut" - so charming! We were able to enjoy a hot shower and shared a beautiful campfire in the common courtyard with others staying there night. The shipping container was just the basics of what we needed of a warm bed for the night and plenty of room for our 3 dogs. Thanks again Jacqui!
