This property is a Pristine Riverfront property in Colo Valley. It is a tidal river with sandy shallow sandbars and 10ft deep swimming holes. There is an abundance of native animals here including kangaroos, lyre birds, lace monitors, platypus and more! Access is via a short dirt driveway to the riverfront camping area. The access is 2wd unless there has been significant rain it becomes 4wd access. We can accommodate both small and large groups with sites just steps away from the river. We have 2 water entrances, one is a large grassed area with shallow water which is great for kids & families. The other entrance is a natural sandy entry with a deeper swimming area suitable for adults. We also have a beautiful lagoon area where I can arrange additional campers. We have built some new flushing toilets (3) with a hot water shower. We are very accommodating of your pets. We welcome dogs and can host horses in one of the paddocks. Please ensure you contact the host prior to your stay if you are bringing any animals.  We have canoes & floats which you can hire to paddle up the river. Additional activities here include fishing, swimming, bushwalking, canoeing & birdwatching. We are also only a 5 minute drive to Colo Riverside Cafe. We also have 2 beautiful brand new glamping tents that you can hire. Please see our extras. I look forward to meeting you soon!

Absolutely loved our weekend there. There was another group at the same time but the setup meant we couldn’t hear anything whatsoever. Right by the river which was nice. Got a decent shower, thunder and lightening on the first night and the ground still held up absolutely fine. Lisa had some big tables and even a bbq available to use which was a lovely bonus.

We had a great time camping at Shady Acres. Lisa was great and very helpful. There was plenty of space, and lots of firewood available which we really appreciated. The river was lovely for a swim. We loved the sounds of the birds in the morning. The location was easy to find in the daylight but a little tricky to find at night time. We would definitely recommend!

Group of friends in 5 caravans, Area easily accommodated us all with space to spare. Lovely flat green space right next to the river. Didn't swim this time as it was middle of winter but the group consensus was it would be fabulous in the summer and we plan to return. Toilets and showers on site were a great touch. Host Lisa was flexible and easy to communicate with. Hope to return soon.

This was our second time coming to shady acres and will be back again. The campsite is nice and grassy with a firepit to use. The toilets and shower are modern and in good condition. The two campsites are a fair distance away so you have your own swimming area and it feels like you have the place to yourselves. The river is crystal clear and nice and shallow for kids to play around. Can recommend.

Beautiful property with direct access to the freshwater river. There are kayaks to borrow, a fire pit, lovely and well maintained bathroom and showers. Our host was sweet to come and say hello to us and her lovely dog also greeted us. There’s very limited reception here. Had a wonderful time and will definitely be back!

As always, Shady Acres never fails to deliver. Great camping spot for a group with direct river access, a pristine toilet & shower block and BBQ provided. Great for a camp fire and lots of fun. One of the best sites you will find in this area. Thanks again Lisa for being a fantastic host and providing great facilities.

My group very much enjoyed their stay at Shady Acres. Lisa had great communication and was a lovely host. She made sure we're all settled in and gave us tips on the area. The site and facilities were well-maintained and we had a good space between the nearest group. Definitely recommend this site to others.

It was our second time here with a large group booking and we had the best time ever. Celebrated new years there and it was honestly just such a great time, weather was on and the river was there with high tides during the day to swim around in. Will continue to go here as much as i can, and Lisa is the best host too. Thanks again Lisa!

Well maintained campground with great toilet and shower options. The extras that Lisa provides - sink, BBQ, table, firepit etc - were much appreciated. Great spot to jump in and out of the river. Trees provided welcome shade. Happy campers.

Great camping spot for large group. River was clear and perfect for non swimmers like us. Didn’t get to meet Lisa (host) but she responds to our queries promptly. Toilet, shower, water hose, electrical connection we have. Will surely go back. Thanks Shady Acres and Lisa.

One of our best camps ever! Amazing location, and really easy to get to from Sydney. The facilities were really nice and clean, and Lisa was so helpful and friendly. Would highly recommend this spot.

Grassy land by a stunning river

This is an expansive grassy campground that we booked up entirely for ourselves. It's situated next to a river which felt beyond luxurious in the high-30 degree weather. The river was definitely the highlight. Pristine water that ebbs and flows with the tide. We had lilos and lived out our best lives floating with a beer in hand. There are some amenities that you don't get at some campgrounds which always make camping a bit easier (3 toilets, hot water shower, sink, BBQ, hose). Overall, we were so stoked with this campsite and gave ourselves plenty of pats on the back for having found it. And definitely a pat on the back to Lisa for being a great host. She popped down when we arrived and gave us the lay of the land. Lisa was really lovely and so was this site - definitely would recommend.

I loved camping at shady acres! There is a considerable amount of flat land with soft grass! The river is calm, clear and beautiful for a swim. There was plenty of land to play games and the fire pit area is such s great area for night time drinks

We loved our weekend at Shady Acres. A huge space perfect for a group of friends. We had heaps of fun floating down the river and having a fire in the evening. My only tip is if you want power on the powered site be wary of where you want to camp as the power is half way down the site not in the nicest spot to camp, the water is also spread out. If advertising as powered, access could be improved at various spots across the site. We were self sufficient so didn't bother us. A beautiful spot to relax with friends. Would recommend and return!

We stayed for 4 nights with a bunch of friends and family for my 50th in October and we loved it! Was fantastic to not be near any other people, there was loads of space and everyone enjoyed the tidal river. Lisa was a great host and very responsive to any questions. Recommend for groups

We had a beautiful, relaxed stay at Shady Acres - thank you, Lisa! It's such a gorgeous patch of land and river. The grass is super-green soft and lush, fantastic for barefoot play (adults and kids!) and enjoying our warm and sunny days there. The Colo River feels safe, still and calm, great for kayaking and paddling in the shallows when the tide is low (little kids loved it). The firepit overlooks the river, too, which means adults can watch their kids while relaxing. We loved having flushable toilets and a short drive out for a cafe coffee. Overall, highly recommend, especially for large groups.

What a great find! Thanks Lisa for being a great host, the whole crew loved the stay, so much space. We enjoyed being close to the sandy bank for river access, power located about 60m away but well worth it. Neat toilet and shower setup. So good for the kids to kick a ball and run around safely. Already talking about a return visit!!

Great spot, we had the place to ourselves. Toilets clean, they're a walk back up the access road. Nice to be right on the river though only a couple of main access points so be mindful if you're camped by those. Plenty of space and flat ground Recommended.

We came here start of July for my 30th birthday with a mix of friends and some young kids. The property is beautiful and to have it all to ourselves was amazing. Lisa is an absolute legend and is super friendly. We took a gamble with the weather forecast and lucked out, even though it rained a little bit here and there we were prepared and didn’t let it dampen our moods because when the sun was out inbetween in full force it was beautiful still. Seriously though, 10/10 experience, 5 star spot, Lisa is a legend, we can’t wait to come back and experience the place in summer, will definitely be back again. Thanks Lisa!

I'm tempted to give this place 1 star so that nobody else goes here and I can have it all to myself! The grass was green and fresh, the fire pit areas were clean, the toilet and shower were top notch and Lisa was an awesome host. I will book here again for sure!

We had 28 people on site for a full weekend to celebrate my 30th birthday. Everyone commented the bathrooms and showers were so nice. The area was flat and grassy and there were plenty of options to pull up.

Spacious and private! Couldn’t recommend Lisa’s property any more. Was ideal for a large group and pet friendly. Will definitely be back to experience it in the warmer months.

On the plus side the toilet and shower was in good condition. However, unfortunately, I cannot recommend this stay for a few reasons - The place was not as large as seemed in the photos, it was not mentioned in the description that part of the property was not available due to a recent flood. The space was abit small with multiple campers in the one area and limited privacy. - As we were not fully satisfied with the place, we enquired if we could stay one night as we wished to find a second place. We were told this was fine and we would be able to recieve a refund for the second day. After leaving and messaging the owner and Hipcamp, unfortunately the owner went back on their word and did not provide a refund and did not reply.
