We look forward to welcoming self-sufficient campers to our little piece of paradise on the Wambuul/Macquarie River, where campers can- Explore the river's edge in a canoe or kayak. Share the bush with wombats, platypus, emus, wallabies and other native animals. Fish for Murray Cod and yabbies. Enjoy a relaxing walk in the quiet bushland. 4WD vehicles are recommended. There are no amenities on any campsites. We have a strict "leave no trace" policy. Please respect the environment and take all rubbish home with you. No dogs, or other pets allowed. Please bring your own fire pit and firewood. NO chainsaws allowed. NO generators. Please be quiet after 8pm. See you soon on Rockytop!

Wambuul View is a small, private bush sight overlooking the Wambuul River where you can watch the river go by and observe the native animals. It is a very short walk to a secluded beach on the river to catch fish, kayak or search for gold. There are no amenities on any campsites. We have a strict "leave no trace" policy. Please respect the environment and take all rubbish home with you. NO pets allowed.

This campsite is situated on a big beautiful quiet, secluded beach on the banks of the Wambuul - (Macquarie) River, on Rockytop. It is accessible only by 4WD vehicles. Due to the deep sand, vehicles must stay on the track at the top of the campsite. Fish for Murray Cod from the banks. Keep a lookout for yabbies and platypus which have been found living in the river. Gold is also found in this part of the Wambuul. Please note, there may be other campers at the Bush Sites who are permitted to access the river, but you will be the only group camping there.

A lovely campsite just metres from the water's edge. This site has a fantastic view of the river. It is the site the closest to the biggest water hole on Rockytop. There is no shade. So, BYO shade. Watch the resident platypus get its dinner at dusk.

Wow, this really was a Great way to spend 3 nights away camping, the views we had were incredible, so peaceful too, a lot of wildlife around, emu’s, goats , kangaroos, echidna, wombats. The river is very calming and a great way to cool off,. Our hosts were the best, even offering assistance during a very heavy rainstorm on one of the days. Definitely mark this one as a favourite.

We originally booked for platypus patch 1 but after talking to the owner she switched and we are so glad she did. Any families or people wanting to swim definitely book Wambuul. We can’t wait to book again

This is an awesome camp site and super nice owners. I wish I took more pictures! Next time I'll be sure to book closer to the river, it's absolutely beautiful.

The Riverside Campsite
It was a great spot camping on the river. Although other campers were sharing the property ech space was private. We did some fishing, panning and relaxing. The night sky was breathtaking. We saw lots of wildlife.

Quiet, gorgeous ‘platypus flat’

Lee is a wonderful host, friendly and accommodating. We mentioned that we had watercraft when booking and she offered us the choice of wedge tail or another newer site closer to the water. We had a whole paddock to ourselves, so no neighbours in sight or earshot, with a short steep walk down to the rivers edge. Most of the field was long dry grass but they’d prepped a corner for us which suited nicely. The remaining grass was tufty, which was a bit awkward underfoot, but if the campsite is maintained going forward this wouldn’t be an issue at all. The view down the river was beautiful, and the wildlife is aplenty. We had a wombat, emu, and wallabies come by, as well as spotting sheep, goats and deer around the property and along the waters edge on our paddle. It’s such a beautiful, quiet property, utterly peaceful and a gorgeous place to spend Easter!! Thanks for having us, Lee and Adrian!

The camp-site was great and the views spectacular it was also nice as Lee and Adrian had the area cut and prepared for our stay good place for family's to camp and I hope people coming do the right thing for the hosts and future guests to enjoy

Nice and private sites, just within hearing distance of other sites. Good flat and easy to reverse into. Basic stock standard 4×4 towed a camper easily on the track. Lee was a lovely host who has great knowledge of the area.

The Riverside Campsite
Beautiful secluded space, owners were lovely & their cute little Jack Russell’s were very friendly. Nice spot to have a campfire on the river bank & plenty of spots to go fishing. Seen kangaroos, emus, goats & birds!

This is a great spot for a group who like freshwater swimming, wildlife, and serenity. 4WD is required if the group size is more than 3 vehicles as 2WD parking locations are limited. But what a location..

The Riverside Campsite
We loved camping at Rockytop. It’s a beautiful place with lovely views of the Macquarie River and surrounding hills. Our campsite was private and spacious. The hosts, Lee and Adrian, are lovely people too!

The Riverside Campsite
We had a wonderful stay overall! The river was teeming with fish, and it was a beautiful spot for swimming. The only suggestion we have is that clearing some of the scrub areas could help with snake safety and make it easier for those with caravans. It would also be helpful if guests were informed about the best camping spots. We’re already looking forward to our next visit!

Beautiful area to Camp, my partner and I were staying in a roof top tent and was loving the breeze and open space. Walked down to the river and went swimming and the water was amazing. Would definitely recommend booking a stay here

The wedgetail site was a beautiful place to camp with extremely secluded campsites that had lots of place to explore. I would highly recommend staying here. Access for 2wd is fine if it’s dry

Wallaby Campsite
We ended up staying down by the river and it was thoroughly enjoyable even though it was a bit cold at this time of year! Adrian was there to meet us when we arrived and was very friendly and helpful. The scenery was lovely and we did lots of walks around the huge property and saw many kangaroos. Loved it.

Easy drive down to the campsite.The site was fairly flat and has a nice view of the river. Short walk to the rivers edge. Plenty of wallabies around and also spotted couple of deers. Highly recommended for self-sufficient campers.

Second time staying at the Riverside campsite. And it was just as amazing as last time! You camp right on the sandy banks of the river. Other campsites not in view. Its very private. I cant speak for the other sites on the property, but riverside is perfect.

Lee and Adrian were excellent hosts, fabulous remote and quiet camp spot close to the river, we’ll definitely come back to try a couple of the other camping spots at Rocky Top. Thanks again.

We didnt stay at this camp site, but ended up staying on the Riverside Camp-site, which was amazing. We had the whole place to ourselves. It was a hot day so swimming in the river was perfect. It was very shallow, but about 20m down stream you couldn't touch the bottom. Would suggest rock shoes, as walking on the sand and in the water can hurt your feet. Lee was great and rang the day before to have a chat about which site would suit best. 10/10.

We had such an amazing time. This property and the waterside sites have to be the best we have camped at in years. Well worth the trip. Owners were amazing and very nice. Would recommend to everyone. 5 stars. FYI. Drop those tyre pressures down for a great creek side sandy camp. We easily parked up beside the creek on the beach with a 79 series and large outback tanami 15 with 3 kids. No issues at all.

Great spot for a family, hosts where a pleasure to deal with!! We stayed at riverside camp. 20 mins from Bathurst but felt like we were a million miles from anywhere. Little slice of paradise, will definetly be camping here again!!!
