I stayed here for a long weekend with my 2 dogs and I can honestly say it’s one of my new favourite hipcamps to stay at. It is an extremely large space with so many private tracks to the river. The grounds were kept immaculate even despite the recent floods and the dogs didn’t mind about murky water. Will absolutely recommend and be back.

We enjoyed our overnight stay at Private River Camp.
A great secluded camp all to yourselves, we would have loved to stay longer.
So much open space which was well maintained where you can set up. There is a beautiful sandy beach area to access the river. Great for Fishing and water activities.

Directions were very easy. We didn't see another human being for 3 days and loved it! Have not felt so removed from civilisation. The views of nature's wonders whilst kayaking up the river were beautiful.
The river was murky and not good for swimming at the time because of rainfall, so we just kept cool dipping in at the waters edge.
Looking forward to coming back. Thanks Craig!

Directions to the property were easy to follow. We had an amazing weekend camping with friends and had the entire place to ourselves. Beautiful property, welcoming, manicured, easy drive to the campground. The campground was spacious and very clean. We loved our stay.

Another great stay at Private River Camp. The use of the kayaks was a big hit with the kids. Caught plenty of cat fish and spotted heaps of turtles while paddle boarding. The kids swam several times each day. A previous review mentions dingos. We can confirm there was no signs of any dingos, only the odd kangaroo. I went running several times around the property and nothing but a few kangaroos. Our dog has a good nose on her too and she would have known if there were other dogs around.
We will be back again soon.

Great spot for 6 night getaway. Huge grassed camp area that had been freshly mowed upon arrival. It was close to the river and with the use of Craig's kayaks was an added bonus.
Will definitely be returning to Craig's property.

We had a fantastic stay. The place was completely private, we had access to kayaks and picked a spot right down near the river. We felt like we were in the middle of no where but were a reasonable distance from town. So many beautiful spots to take day trips to or you could easily spend your time exploring the property. We did have some inquisitive dingoes hanging around camp so we had to be careful with our dogs so perhaps just keep this in mind if you stay. Overall a great trip and spot.

Craig's Private River Camp has been immaculately maintained - with a huge grassed camp area kept well slashed, and attractive stands of forest at the edges. The road on the property has been well built - allowing for easy all-weather access. There are multiple totally flat zones amongst the (otherwise) sloped grass expanse. Very convenient to Grafton yet with a special remote feel - it's not a big trek off the M1.
The Orara river looks to be brilliant for safe, small water-craft play/exploration - being calm and still. There may have been a minor flood before I got there, as the 'beach' (property river bank) was a mix of sand, and mud that may have been deposited by a flood. You can still swim though!
Finally, Craig was a very responsive communicator.
Recommended for self-contained groups and solo campers alike - very peaceful.

We loved camping at Private River Camp; Craig was amazing with our arrival and leaving date / time changes, and the property was beautiful and so peaceful. 150 acres and all to ourselves! We’ll definitely be back.

Great amenities, lovely open space which was well maintained. The undercover awning came in super handy as we had torrential rain and we really appreciated the freedom to explore the property with the well kept tracks throughout.

We always choose private, picturesque hipcamps where you have exclusive access to the site. This site did not let us down. A large well maintained area, close to the river, with a number of sites to choose from. We definitely recommend.

Craig’s Secret River Camp is a great spot to venture too. The area is well maintained, plenty of spots for families and so relaxing. Lots of native birds and animals to see. Excellent river to use the sups, swim and fish.

Amazing for our family. Close to the river but not that close that we were worried our little ones would run straight into the water while we had our backs turned. Loved the open space for the kids and dog to play. We have already booked to come back.

We spent two fabulous nights at Private River Camp - the name certainly lives up to expectations. Craig was a great host, providing lots of information about the site and keeping in contact. The grounds are expansive and very well maintained, right on the banks of the Orara River which feeds into the Clarence. Perfect site for swimming, fishing and kayaking - we kayaked around to Copmanhurst and back and the diversity in flora and fauna amongst the rocks on the river banks was great to experience. The campsite itself is great - flushing toilets, fire pits, cover if you need it, sandy river access, peace and quiet and as the ad suggests, we were the only ones there. Highly recommend this campsite, and Craig as a host, to others.

This is our second stay, our favourite winter holiday destination! Wildlife abundant, we spotted koalas, lace monitors, gliders, owls & fireflies. Even with the river being brown (this time), it was still beautifully refreshing. See you again next winter Craig.

Such a well kept, spacious and relaxing property. What a special place to spend some time with our dogs, just quietly exploring. Whilst we didn't get the best weather during our stay, it forced us to sit back and enjoy just being in nature.
Craig was a wonderful host. The guided tour really helped us to decide where to set up our camper and we felt welcomed. Communication was always good throughout.

This was an unbelievably special site. So private, so pretty, with a beautiful river view and such convenience with our host, Craig allowing access to his water tanks and site toilets. Our dog with dermatitis was spoiled with manicured, lush lawns and daily fresh water swimming.

Absolutely awesome spot!
This place has everything, big open grassy spaces, trees for shade, a river with a sandy beach, bush walks and multiple spots to camp.
You couldn’t ask for better hosts in Craig and Kerry, super friendly and welcoming to myself and my dog. They went out of their way to make me feel comfortable and nothing was too much trouble.
It just goes to show what a little hard work can do, what Craig and Kerry have done to their property is exceptional, it really is a little slice of paradise. Whether you’re in a big group or solo, this is the spot!
