McKenzies Mountain is run by a sixth generation pioneer family, and boasts a kilometer of river frontage, four kilometers interspersed with waterfalls and rockpools, over a hundred acres of pristine rainforest, and a 2000 ft elevation mountain peak. Plus it's home to 125 head of cattle. It's simply a magical country camping spot. There is plenty to do, including swimming, kayaking, canoeing, fishing, and crystal fossicking. Just next door, within walking distance, is the Hare Krishna farm, where they run Hare Krishna farm tours, workshops, and Yoga retreats. Each camping area has been chosen to ensure space and privacy for all guests, good access and lovely views.

Tea Tree Camp
Exceptional spot. 6 of us and our dogs stayed at Tea Tree Camp right on the river. The area had flooded the prior week so the place was lush and green, however James had come through the morning of our stay and mowed out an area for us. Fantastic host, great views, close enough to town. We'll be back

Red Kamala campsite
Had a great stay & James was super helpful+ friendly. Great spot with sufficient amenities and the beautiful mountain view and creek to enjoy. Easy to find and spread out so didn't feel crowded at all + quite likes the view of the "junk yard" definitely a country aesthetic.

Platypus Island
We saw platypus!
We parked our 2WD on the main field by a clearing in the bushes that had a great view overlooking the most beautiful creek with Mountain View’s in the other direction. We were lucky enough to see platypus at both dusk and dawn - such an amazing experience. Every time we walked to the river bank they either didn’t show up or we couldn’t spot them, so being parked on the elevated field is probably ideal for sightings if that’s what you’re interested in! James was also so accommodating, saving our Christmas Eve with emergency gas canisters after ours ran out. Overall a brilliant campsite, would definitely recommend!
