For a truly magical experience, The Waterhole is a great space for large groups of campers nestled below the stunning Wingen Maid. This is just one camping area on our 720-acre campers paradise. This campsite is accessible by all vehicles. This is just 1 of our 4 Waterholes (dams) where you can camp, swim, and fish. You have access to the whole property for bushwalking, push bike riding, or exploring in your 4WD (slowly and safely strictly 20km speed limit).  There are toilets available at the Waterhole. Fishing is available in all dams on the property just go for a swim or just chill out and enjoy the spectacular scenery. Be sure to check out our 6 seater Can-am Buggy Property Tour $15 ea max 5 people taking around 1 hour and 13kms showing all of the campsites, our horses and cattle plus an abundance of wildlife. Bookings essential. Maiden Jewel is located at the foothills of Burning Mountain (Mount Wingen). We are located close to nearby towns Scone and Murrurundi which boast some of the best fine dining restaurants, art galleries, Distilleries, and boutique shops in Upper Hunter Valley. The experience we offer and the picturesque views always bring visitors coming back for more. Be sure to check out the Extras we offer to make your stay comfortable and very memorable. No loud music or disruptive behavior after 10 pm, as there are families also sharing this space. Please note: whilst we welcome dogs, we have a strict on-leash-only policy due to the presence of horses and riders, and livestock, moving around the property.

Absolutely wonderful place to stay, woke up to the cows coming down to the damn for a drink of water. The sun set was amazing over the ridge line. And Jane was so lovely. Would definitely stay again

What a great campsite. Quiet and relaxing by the waterhole. The hosts were so accommodating and helpful. They offer a lot of activities on their property. The instructions to get there were easy to follow and even though we got there late they were great communicators. Jane and her daughter stopped for a chat when they dropped firewood off for us. Definitely will return.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at Maiden Jewel, and it was an experience I won’t soon forget. The location is truly breathtaking – surrounded by scenic views that seem to change with the light of day, from golden sunrises to peaceful dusks. Each moment felt like stepping into a postcard. The nights were wonderfully quiet, making it the perfect escape from the rush of everyday life. I slept better here than I have in a long time, with only the sounds of nature in the background. What really made the stay exceptional was the host’s generosity. From thoughtful touches in the accommodation to warm, genuine hospitality, it was clear that every detail was considered to make guests feel welcome and comfortable. Maiden Jewel is beautiful natural Australian bush mixed in with stunning camping areas The horses are amazing, too have the cattle wondering freely about the property is spectacular And the natural wildlife all around it doesn’t get much better. We will definitely be back

Maiden Jewel was so peaceful. A wonderful place to get away. The property is huge with heaps of great camping places so you feel like you are alone. Lots of trails to walk & total peace & quiet. Loved it. Jane was great & met me on horseback to show me to the waterhole where I camped.

Maiden Jewel Camping
We really enjoyed this very peaceful and scenic location and the fact that there was so much open space gave us all lots of privacy. It was conveniently located close to Scone but still very much 'in the country' with good road access with our caravans. We loved being able to have a fire and enjoyed the variety of birds and wildlife that were wandering around. We will definitely stay here again. Thanks

If you want to do nothing, it would be a great place for you. Its a good place for someone who wants to sit and enjoy their beers The rule is the rule, but sometimes they still complain about noise before 10 p.m.!!! Apart from this nature is awesome

The beauty of Maiden Jewel is unmatched. You get the choice of spectacular views no matter which direction you set up camp. The drive in really sets the tone. Jane is a wonderful and hands on host, very accommodating and offers a super fun buggy ride around her humongous property, which is full of fun and information on the history of the land, plants and animals, especially great for the kids! There are animals roaming, yet the grounds are clean! Woke up with very healthy looking cows mooing us a good morning, which was super cool. This is a peaceful, beautiful part of the world and is NOT for people looking to party, do everyone a favour and pick somewhere else if that’s what you’re after. If you want to wake up in heaven, spend the night at maiden jewel, we have already planned our next two trips back. Thank you Jane for a wonderful experience, thank you for sharing your home !

Overall great experience, lovely hosts. The scenes were great, lots of bush trails to follow. We saw deer, kangaroos, plenty of birdlife. Although other campers may or may not ruin your experience. Even though their rules and she messages to stop noise at 10pm some campers near us were still going till 12am. The dams were not as clean as I imagined, very muddy, murky. Came out dirtier than went in. If we had a portable shower I suppose wouldn’t be so bad but not when you’re sleeping in a tent.

Jane was very accommodating meeting us at the gate for a brief tour around the property to help us pick the perfect sight for us. We had plenty of space between us and other campers. Loads of mowed areas and traks to camp at or walk around. Beautiful views of mountains multiple dams for fishing or swimming. Bonuses fire wood delivered to sight for a small fee and porter potties scattered around the property. Thankyou for letting us enjoy your beautiful property Jane.

The Waterhole
The owners were very welcoming. They showed me to my spot and 10 minutes later they dropped off wood for my fire. The property had slashed trails all over. I spent 3 nights at the bluff which was incredible spot, quiet with a beautiful look out over the mountains.

Loved staying at Maiden Jewel, we stayed at one of the private sites away from the main camping area near the dam as we were self contained. Glad we did as the main area was busy. Beautiful panoramic views from our site, hosts were friendly and welcoming.

Mal was a great host and took us to a secluded camp site with amazing views of the cliffs and a massive wild olive tree. It felt like you were all by yourself and a million miles away from everything. Mal advised the water in the dams was low but we didn't mind as we were out exploring each day. The campsites are huge and the cows are friendly, we took a little dog who didn't like the cows when they walked through the campsite but the cows were unfazed by her and moved through quickly. I would stay here again when I'm up that way.

Absolutely awesome, will recommend this to all of my equine friends. Jane was the perfect host, cook and trail boss. Her hospitality was brilliant and her property is an absolute gem. It features beautiful dams deep enough to swim horses and picturesque views. Set at the foot of the Wingen Maid mountain is nothing short of exquisite. The rocks and caves in the wall of the mountain changes its look every hour of the day as the sun sweeps over.

Flexibility to ride when, where and with who you wanted, including swimming your horse in the dam and use of the round yard. Dogs and non riders allowed. Spectacular property and wonderful host.

We had an awesome weekend at Maiden Jewel, set up at the “View”, 280degree views all the way up the Murrurundi range. With so many different places to camp we look forward to going back again. Our hosts Jane and Malcom were great, very accommodating and keen for us to explore.
