Best tent-sites: Finalist
Named one of the best Hipcamps to visit in 2024.
We are a farm forestry property located in the middle of the north shore of Port Stephens. Two hours north of Hornsby. 1 hour north of Newcastle.  2 mins to Pindimar beach, 9 minutes to Coles and bottle shop, 11 minutes to surf beach, 12 minutes to Jimmy's Beach. Pets are welcome, but please pick up after them. Free firewood - Every site has a fire pit supplied. Hot showers and clean, decent toilets. Good mobile signal for Telstra and Optus networks. Communal Fridges and a communal spa. There is lots of space for campers so you will have privacy whilst you enjoy your camping adventure.  We are located on a dead end road, so very rare to have any traffic after 8pm. Good fishing. Pretty much everywhere you can wet a line. Prawns are best bait. If your dog is on the government list of restricted breeds or on the dangerous dog list please leave at home We have a gentle, well trained old German Shepherd who adores kids but after being bitten by another dog, now prefers to stay inside the house and not visit the camp sites. PLEASE NOTE: 1) We ONLY ALLOW ONE camper trailer or ONE caravan per site. No limit on number of tents. 2) IF You Have more than 3 vehicles/site please contact host before booking. 3) Depending on the weather on the day, we may have to limit the number of vehicles that can be parked adjacent to your campsite. 4) NO late night check in . If you are a group larger than two people the check in time is between midday and sunset. Do not arrive after sunset. The reason being if you are a large group turning up late, you will ruin the camping experience of other campers who got there earlier to watch the sunset and just chill. Furthermore, the sunsets are one of the reasons people come here. Every single day it is totally different. If you arrive late you have missed it.... 5) As the business name suggests (mountain) our property is on a slope. We do have several flat areas for tents , hybrids, camper vans and small caravans. And we have 6 levelling blocks scattered across the sites. However, where we struggle is when people turn up in 10m caravans with little to no ground clearance and then complain why the site is not dead flat. Dead flat is a concrete slab at any caravan park anywhere but here.Rubbish and recycling facilities are available. Please seperate cans and bottles from everything else. Closest National Park is about 10 mins from here. (2 min drive, 10 min walk) For those who are into stargazing we have a particularly good location with no light contamination from cities, industry or neighbours.  Combined with being on top of a hill that has 360 degree view of the night sky.   Bring your telescope and you will be blown away. If there are any local events on, check fridge noticeboard

Fame Mountain Camp
We highly recommend it ❤️🙏🏼
We stayed at the campsite on December 30th during our New Year’s trip. Mei was simply the best host we could have asked for. Even before our arrival, she sent us tips on what to do in the area, and when we arrived, she welcomed us with ice cream (it was a very hot day). During our stay, she made everything absolutely perfect so we could feel even more comfortable! The campsite is very peaceful, with polite guests who respect the noise rules. The amenities, such as the toilets and refrigerator, were also perfect—clean, well-maintained, and convenient. We enjoyed a phenomenal view of the sunset over the mountains, and thanks to Mei’s tips, we witnessed the most beautiful sunrise on the last day of 2024. We highly recommend it, and Mei, thank you so much for your incredible hospitality!

Fame Mountain Camp
Staying at Fame Mountain Camp was a genuine pleasure. Mei and Jon are wonderfully friendly hosts. Spending a few days there was one of the best stays I’ve had in recent times. I thoroughly enjoyed having a fire in the fire pits provided. We never felt encroached upon by other campers. The views are truly spectacular. The facilities, such as toilets, showers, etc. were impeccable. We will definitely revisit Fame Mountain Camp in the future.

Generous hosts
Mei & Jon were incredibly kind and generous, they look after the place very well. The ground was hard and it got quite windy, so I would recommend bringing rocky pegs- it made it so much easier. We loved being near the beach and being able to have our dog off leash and enjoying the space.

Highly recommended
Thank you Mei and John for a great experience. The land was super spacious for us (we brought our dog, car and boat) and still had alot of space. Dog friendly, and great facilities - the hosts supplied us with table, chairs, free wood and fire pit, and at the top of the hill, there is a trampoline, a spa, and toilets., showers and fridges! It was very clean. We stayed here for 3 nights and could tell the hosts cleaned the facilities regularly. Mei was so welcoming, kind and had a lovely personality. She also gave us a first aid kit as a NYE present. So nice! I'd suggest this campsite for big groups and families. You have to drive a fair bit to get to a few nice cafes and restaurants, but we did find a handful of nice local bars and cafes. It was also about a 15 min drive to Coles which was handy if you were running out of supplies. Thank you Mei and John xx

Fame Mountain Camp
This is a great private campground with such fantastic hosts! Mei and Jon were very welcoming. The facilities are excellent with more than we expected (great toilets and showers, 2 fridges, free firewood delivered to your site...). Sadly for us the weather turned nasty and we had to leave a day early, but we will definitely be back!
