Our working farm is located between Kempsey and Armidale in the beautiful Macleay Valley in the Northern Tablelands of NSW. We offer large, grassy campsites on the beautiful Macleay River and a modern amenities block with hot showers and flushing toilets. **IMPORTANT INFORMATION** Cracknback Campground is situated almost half way between Kempsey and Armidale shires. They are each responsible for this road. The boundary between the two shires is at Blackbird Flat - which is 12 km from us towards Kempsey. The Armidale Shire section of road is officially closed - however we do have permission to operate. DO NOT USE GPS! Because the road is closed on Live Traffic, GPS will take you into the back hills. From Kempsey 1.5 hours. Travel through Willawarrin, Bellbrook and continue straight for 40 mins until you see our signs on the left. From Armidale 1.5 hours. Travel app 41km on Waterfall Way. Turn right onto Kempsey-Armidale Road. Cracknback is app 54km on the right. * Heaps of flat ground for kids to ride bikes * Watch tortoises and fish in the river * Free kayaks for use * Beautiful mountain ranges and such an open sky you can see the Milky Way! * 30 roomy sites, flushing toilets, hot showers * Family friendly * We are dog friendly...if your dog is friendly. * Fire pits provided but bring your own wood Additional guests welcome at $20 per head per night over 15 years old. Kids 5 - 15 years $5 per night. Under 5 years freeWelcome! Cracknback is situated on the beautiful Macleay River in the Mid North Coast of NSW. It is the perfect getaway spot to enjoy majestic mountains and pristine wilderness. Enjoy bass fishing, swimming, kayaking or just chilling out under the stars.  Lots of flat ground for kids to ride bikes DO NOT USE GPS!! Because the road is 'closed' on live traffic, GPS will send you into back roads. Stick to Kempsey-Armidale road. Drive in a straight line until you see Cracknback signs. Please be aware that you will see a lot of 'residents only' signs. We have permission to operate and you can legitimately use the road if you are coming to stay with us. Please drive carefully and aim to get here before dark if possible. We are on a narrow, winding dirt road. Don't drive over rock fall. It is sharp and will puncture tyres! Hot showers and flushing toilets give some creature comforts with large camping sites. We don't reserve sites but you are free to choose where you camp. Fire pits provided, but please bring your own wood. This is a 'leave no trace' property. We ask that you take all rubbish home and leave your site as pristine as you found it. This is a working farm and a work in progress! Welcome home

Absolutely wonderful experience for my daughter’s first time camping. Beautiful scenery from the river front camping spot we picked out and great communication with Beth during the whole booking process. We will be booking again for future school holidays so we can get the full experience with the fishing and provided Kayaks

I enjoy my stay @Beth/Ben riverside campground. They created a wonderful friendly vibe which seem to connect well with everyone. Clean campground, amenities and lots of space to enjoy privacy. Beth/ Ben was always available to help in any way they could which was welcomed. We even had time for deep chats and shared appreciation for nature. I would definitely recommend booking you spot to appreciate the surroundings, riverside camping and nature alarm clock :) not to mention the starry skies at night. Well worth the trip and wished I stayed longer!
