Our piece of heaven is Briarfield, a beef & wool farm on the Northern Tablelands 30km east of Guyra. 1300m above sea level. The southern end of our farm is one large paddock of 500 acres for you to explore, relax & enjoy the peaceful seclusion. We only take one booking/group, it's all yours. There are gullies to explore full of natural rock outcrops, ferns & enormous gum trees. Lots of little tracks to follow under the canopy of our great stringy bark trees. An abundance of wildlife to share your space with, kangaroos, wallabies, echidna & if you are lucky koalas! We back onto the start of the Wollomombi River, where we would suggest that you camp, but there are many beautiful spots. Please bring your own camp toilet. Well behaved dogs on leads welcome. There is a loo at the shearing shed on your way in, where there is a rain water tank for you to fill containers with fresh rain water.

The variety of birds on the property was amazing. Highly recommend for those who enjoy birdwatching! Beautiful views and a really nice place to camp. Thanks Julia and Robert

We didn’t actually get to stay long at Briarfield as something came up and we had to leave early but I can say that it is an awesome place and Robert and Julia are great hosts who were more than understanding when our circumstances changed and we had to leave early and they actually refunded our money which we didn’t ask for or expect but it was much appreciated and it just shows the type of people that they are. We can’t wait to get back and enjoy their awesome property. The views from the campsites are amazing.

Very lovely spot to stay for few days. We had quiet little spot down on the river with no one in sight. Julia was very organised and easy to communicate with. Highly recommend this place as a great little get away.

Julia and Robert were great hosts. Directions were clear and simple. We were looking for a crisp winter camping experience in private surrounds and we certainly got that. Had a few visits from the curious residents (cows) but otherwise we had the place to ourselves. Some great national parks not too far away too. Will definitely be coming again.

Briarfiled is one of the most beautiful spots we have visited. The views are stunning and Julia and Robert are beautiful and hardworking people. We felt privileged to stay here and and share their property and particularly loved that we could enjoy the entire space to ourselves. Felt extremely safe and appreciated access to water from the water tank and being able to collect fallen wood for the fire. It was very cold given we visited when NSW was experiencing a polar blast and we even got to experience a little snow which was just stunning to sit in our warm van and look out and watch. We will definitely be back.

I enjoyed my stay at Robert and Julia’s property very much. Julia was extremely helpful. I really appreciated Julia’s detailed directions, notes about where to find the best camping spot, and map. I felt very welcomed. Beautiful land and scenery; and the peace and seclusion was so healing.

Absolutely beautiful farm land, quiet and peaceful. Top of the mountain range, views to the south were HUGE and not a light to be seen at night. The cattle kept us on our toes.

Beautiful spot. Very secluded and you are the only people on the site... pretty amazing. We camped down by the little river for 2 nights and 1 at the top overlooking the whole of the valley... amazing views and probably the best spot. Julia and Robert were amazing and very helpful. Absolutely recommended this spot.

Great secluded off grid area. Flat grassed area and if you keep your eyes peeled you will see the great wildlife around the area.

Needs better track signage ,hard to see track 4wd only to creek sign needed ,creek crossing needs gravel to cross ,to slussy ,had to camp back on ridge

Briarfield Self Sufficient Camping
We enjoyed a lovely night camping at Briarfield. As our van was on the longer side, we camped up the top (instead of creek side) which gave us 180 degree views overlooking the beautiful surrounding valley. Very peaceful setting. Enjoyed a morning visit from some friendly cows. 😊 Great communication with Julia.

Traveling between Brisbane and Sydney, this was my first venture into Hipcamping, and I wasn’t disappointed. Robert and Julia were wonderful people to book through; they were very thorough with all of their communications - directions, camping options and updates all very detailed. Upon arrival there were hand written directions on how to navigate through to the camping location. I was on my motorcycle (BMW R1250 GSA) and camping in a tent. I found the location and setting to be exactly what I was looking for; quiet, secluded and peaceful. The farm is beautiful and the campsites are well located, with mine having a large fallen tree for firewood literally metres from the fireplace. Thank you Robert and Julia for your hospitality. I will definitely be back again.

We had booked to stay at Briarfield, and got stuck by the floods in NSW and weren't able to make the booking. Julia was gracious enough to call and make sure we were all okay and we arranged to be able to stay at another time when things weren't so wet! So although we haven't been onsite yet, our interactions with Julia are enough to recommend staying at Briarfield.

I really needed to get away at the last minute and Julia accomodated my last minute plans so easily and provided all the information and very good directions that I needed. It was so peaceful and there were amazing 360 degree views of the valley at the top spot. I was able to do heaps of bushwalking and spotted various birds, wallabies and roos and echidnas too.!! You have the whole place to yourself and its not far from the township of Guyra which has enough options to keep you stocked up for supplies. I started with 3 days but decided to extend this to 6 - I had the time and I trully did not want to leave. Although I didnt get the chance to meet Julia she was so very lovely to deal with and such a good source of infomation. I caught up with Robert as he came past to check on the friendly neighbours (the agistment cows) and he was so very down to earth and caring and made sure I was ok and safe as I was just camping by myself in a tent.

Easy to find by following the clear directions provided. A good selection of nice camping areas to choose from. Loved being able to leave our gear without fear of things going missing since only one group are allowed in at any given time. Great base camp for exploring the surrounding areas.

what a wonderful place, quite magical with incredible views, total privacy. cows chased up through the fields, it was quite an adventure and we can't wait to return! lovely hosts :)

We really enjoyed our time at Briarfield despite the average weather conditions. There was plenty of shade at the top camp site which was great for those hot days. The arrival instructions were super clear and the hosts very accomodating. Camping by the creek would have been great but there was limited shade and you would need a 4x4 to cross the creek to get to it. Will happily go back!

Despite immediately crashing my motorcycle, I actually had a fantastic experience with Julia and her beautiful piece of country NSW. Hospitable and just lovely, Julia went the extra mile to ensure my comfort during my (unfortunately) short stay. I will be back and would recommend Briafield to all.

Amazing property and camp is really secluded and down by river, unfortunately river not flowing. Hosts lovely and came to check on us then left us to our peace! Can’t wait to go back!! Extra directions would be helpful as you turn off main road onto dirt side road and go right to end.

Just had 4 great days on this property and enjoyed it all from the view from the top down to the flat peaceful area by the creek. Robert and Julia were the perfect hosts and was great to meet and shear their property with them, thank you will go back when in the areas next time.

Briarfield Self Sufficient Camping
Briarfiled was what we were looking for. Single campsite, total solitude. Plenty of room for the dogs to explore and run around. Although the creek was down and needs a good flush there was some fish activity. Julia was very friendly and accommodating. Absolutely beautiful scenery. Will be back.
