Camp by the Water at Bowling Alley Point Recreation Reserve Set on the picturesque shores of Chaffey Dam, just 40 minutes from Tamworth, Bowling Alley Point Recreation Reserve is a spacious damside campground perfect for everything from tents and camper trailers to large caravans and motorhomes. With plenty of grassy campsites spread along the water's edge, you'll have room to relax, enjoy the views, and make the most of this beautiful destination. Many sites offer direct access to the dam, making it easy to launch a kayak, cast a fishing line, or simply enjoy a swim on a warm day. If you're bringing a boat, you can often pull it up right in front of your campsite after a day on the water. For those seeking a little more privacy, follow the campground tracks away from the main amenities to discover secluded campsites nestled around the reserve. Cattle may occasionally graze within parts of the reserve. Facilities • Large grassy campground with up to 200 campsites - primitive camping • Suitable for tents, camper trailers, caravans and RVs • Flushing toilets at the campground amenities • Main amenities block with hot showers ($1 coin-operated) • Non potable water available • Picnic tables • Boat ramp suitable for medium-sized boats Things to Do Chaffey Dam is a popular destination for outdoor recreation and offers something for everyone: • Fishing for Murray cod, golden perch (yellowbelly), trout and catfish • Boating and water sports • Fossicking for gold within the surrounding hills • Canoeing and kayaking • Swimming • Relaxing by the dam • Exploring the surrounding bushland Campfires Campfires are permitted in existing fire pits when conditions allow. Please bring your own firewood and always check current fire restrictions before lighting a fire. Pet Friendly Pets are welcome under control and in accordance with reserve regulations. Good to Know • Maximum stay is 7 days. • This is a spacious campground, but waterfront sites are popular during school holidays and long weekends. • Access is suitable for caravans and larger vehicles in good weather. • Located approximately 43 km from Tamworth via Nundle Road, with the entrance just beyond the Chaffey Dam lookout.

Campfires are permitted in existing fire pits when conditions allow, making it the perfect place to unwind under the stars after a day on the water. Amenities including flushing toilets, coin-operated hot showers and drinking water are available throughout the reserve, while pets are welcome when kept under control.
