Best for self-contained campers. There are no toilets, showers, or potable water at this Hipcamp.
Welcome Ayr Farm Riverside Camp, a working farm with river access. We can accommodate both small and large groups with sites just steps away from the river. There is power and water you can access, however there are no toilets, so campers must be self contained and leave no trace. A 4wd is recommended if you want to camp by the river, but there are plenty of 2wd accessible areas to camp nearby overlooking the river. I run sheep and cattle on my farm, set in a picturesque part of the Hunter Valley bordered by the Hunter River, which feels far away from it all but is close to both small communities and larger hubs. In addition to the sheep and beef cattle I have a small dairy herd of 8 jersey cows, milking once a day, which you would be welcome to watch. I also have chickens, working dogs and a small market garden which includes a greenhouse, glasshouse and seed-raising area, as well as an abundance of native animals and birdlife on the farm. The property is a short drive to shops, cafes and pubs, quaint country villages and Maitland/East Maitland with city amenities. The beaches of Newcastle are an hour away with train service from Maitland and the many attractions and events of the Hunter Valley are on your doorstep, with Sydney being easily accessible for weekend adventures. Ayr Riverside Camping easy access
Witson is the perfect host, kind and gracious. Our camp site was lovely with river views and complete peace and quiet. The animal and bird life was pretty cool - rosellas, kangaroos and sheep. We thoroughly enjoyed watching Witson tend to his friendly cows and we will be sure to call in again and say g'day next time we're in the area. A direct quote from Glenn "Pretty f*** cool". And that's from a dairy farmer 😁. Thank you, Witson!!

Peaceful camping on a working farm

We loved camping here. We stayed 2 nights. It’s peaceful, clean and tidy. Witson is an absolute gentleman. We enjoyed milking the cows and freely walking around the property. Witson made you feel so welcome. Highly recommend.
