We live on 10 acres of mixed forest and field. In the summer we have an active blacksmithing school and flower farm here. The idea of a sustainable, self reliant lifestyle has always been part of our life and passing it down to others is a joy for us. We sustainably manage our food and forest to be the best stewards we can for our environment and our neighbors. Our Cabin and structures were built primarily of materials that were recycled or milled on site. which makes them warm and inviting. The Cabin is located close to our shop which houses an active blacksmithing school in the summer months where the rest of the structures are separate and in an area tucked away on the edge of the woods. Jeffrey and Betsy work to make your stay as welcoming as possible. We maintain a small orchard of fruit trees, a garden which feeds us year round and a small flower farm on the property. Avid skiers, bikers, paddlers and hikers, offering the property for others to enjoy was a conscious decision made when planning all of our infrastructure. Come and enjoy all the beautiful Flathead Valley has to offer.

This site is very well set up for camping. The structures are built to last for centuries. The location is great for accessing Jewel Basin, Bigfork, and even Glacier NP. Thanks......Will

Great Tent Camping
We really enjoyed the tent site. The shower was nice, and the facilities were clean. We also very much appreciated the gracious hospitality of our hosts. If we are ever in the area, we will be sure to stay again.

I can’t say enough good things about this site. First I took a shower heart every day I was there in September. It was beautiful outside and warm! Deer were near my tent in the morning eating grass and berries. There was good company in the evening up in the communal kitchen with other campers and members of the blacksmithing school. It made for a very diverse stay.

Betsy was so welcoming and helpful! The outdoor kitchen was so nice so we didn't have to worry about packing extra appliances to eat. And the rest of the facilities were kept so clean! Oh! And I don't know how I'll live without an outdoor shower now.

Best vacation experience ever!
I really don't know where to begin. My boyfriend and I were warmly welcomed by Mrs. Betsy and her husband although we showed up at 11pm coming from a 10.5 hour drive and in the middle of a thunder and lightning storm. Mr. Funk kindly walked with us a short distance to our shelter to help us get situated and enroute, showed us the facility and many amenities that they offered. That night's sleep was so peaceful. We fell asleep listening to crickets chirping and thunder echoing off the mountains in the distance. The next morning as we awoke, we were taken aback by the presence of what seemed like a scene out of an old western with magnificent mountains surrounding us and lush green vegetation as far as the eye could see. Birds singing their songs and a certain stillness that must be experienced to understand. The air smelt sweet with a freshness that you could only find in the mountains. Beautiful wildflowers surrounded us as we made our way to the camp kitchen for breakfast. My boyfriend was invited by Mr. Funk's apprentice to sit in on a class at his New Agrarian School where traditional black smithing is taught by him and his apprentice on site. I have used Air B&B and other booking sites over the years. But NOTHING beats the experience we had with Hip Camp and the hospitality of the Funk's. I recommend this place and would give it a 20/10 review if I could.

Artisan's Airstream
What a stroke of luck! when North Yellowstone closed we cast around for somewhere else to stay and happened upon the Airstream at Betsy and Jeffrey's place. It was fabulous, like glamping in a garden, We sat is on a demosntration at Jeffrey's blacksmithing school and toured Betsy's flower garden, they could not have been more welcoming. the airstream is a vintage model with all the quirks and quaintness that brings. We loved everything about it - including the outdoor solar shower.

Artist's Cabin
Quiet Cabin
The cabin was beautifully crafted and on a lovely property with kind and helpful host. It hosts a queen bed and rocking chair in its own room separated from living area by a sheer curtain. There was a basket full of more blankets if needed. The double pane windows were unique. There was ample electrical outlets in the bedroom. The living area had a quaint table with 2 chairs and huge picture window looking out into nature. Brand new futon couch was comfortable and would work easily as another bed. There is a microwave, small oven, mini fridge, plug in hot water kettle- although I only used the fridge. The hosts had two mini bottles of wine and chocolates waiting for us as well as ample supply of hot teas to sample. Loved the little touches. Sink in both mini kitchen and in bathroom. Shower also in bath with ample hot water for 2.

The best Hipcamp we have ever stayed at! We contacted Betsy the morning before our stay asking if there was some space we could dry out our tent and gear. She offered to let us stay in one of their tipi’s (we have never slept in a tipi before and it was a lot of fun!). The next morning she also graciously showed us around her property as well as her husbands blacksmith shop/forge. Super cool and amazing people! It is definitely worth every moment if you get a chance to stay here!
