I had a lovely time staying at The Country School. The property is very lush and beautiful and our hosts were helpful in guiding us to the campsite. Be aware that Google Maps may not be 100% accurate with the directions. Thanks, Brenda!

This is primitive camping. The sites were very far apart, and it was very quiet. There was wood to use in the fire pit, a table with a couple of chairs, and a flat space for our tent. We liked it.

Enjoyed our night! The campsite was set up very cute with a table and chairs and a fire pit. There was wood, fire starter stuff and a nice private bathroom area. We would definitely go back if visiting the area!

Great escape into nature
Me and my 13 year-old son really enjoyed our one night of camping here. We got a little exercise getting to the second site, which was more secluded and very quiet. My teenager said the exercise was worth it (that is saying something!). We had a good breeze (the site was up higher in the woods) and the bugs weren't too bad. Overnight and in the morning, we had a lot of sounds of nature (bird calls I've never heard) and saw a fox and a deer not too far from our campsite, which was pretty cool. If it ever rained, this would be a good site to be at, with all of the tree cover. We went to the public beach in Avon to swim (within 10 minutes), but otherwise stayed at our site. There were some cool trails to walk. Our host set up the campsite really nice (plenty of firewood) including a table and chairs. Definitely want to return here.

Great in a pinch!
Great place to stay in a pinch! It was pouring when I got there and all while I was there up until I left so I did not get to get out and see much of the place, but the hospitality was great!

Cute and simple!
Everything we needed for the night! Cute little campsite in the trees. Parking is not available at the campsite so if you’re planning to sleep in your vehicle you might not want to book here! Other than that super lovely and lots of beautiful nature sounds 🌱

It was easier to find than the description had suggested. Campsite 2 was covered by trees, and overlooked a fenced pasture. It was very quiet, even though you could see the road in November when trees didn’t have all their leaves anymore. It’s a beautifully maintained site. There was a table and two chairs, a candle and even a little mirror. Firewood and fire starters were provided. But it was also easy to find dead branches and sticks in the woods. Enjoy your stay at this very friendly site.

We had such a lovely time camping here! The leaves are beautiful this time of year and our campsite was so serene and covered with them! The farmland surrounding the site is beautiful and the campsite itself is very private, and it was really quiet and peaceful all around. We also loved that firewood and kindling was provided -- the firepit was great too (even though no grill provided) and we made a beautiful fire. Brenda was great at communicating with us and gave us recommendations of nearby places to hike. We can't wait to come back soon and would highly recommend staying here!

I had such a sweet time here! The campsite was accessible, cozy and well stocked with a fire pit, wood and a table with 2 chairs. It was obviously well tended; and the surrounding trees provided beauty and privacy. Brenda happened to be outside when I arrived and was such a warm, hospitable host. Highly recommend!

I had an absolutely wonderful stay at The Country School. Brenda was warm and friendly via text, and I felt very safe camping there as a solo woman traveler.
I was at site 1, which is closer to the road and house. I heard very occasional car traffic, but I imagine site 2 is quieter. Each site had everything one needs for a rustic tent camp experience—lots of chopped wood and firestarters, pallet table and two chairs, fire pit (no grate over the pit). Seriously, the cost of the Hipcamp reservation is worth it just for the wood!
I'd consider both sites similar to walk-in campsites at state parks. A few hundred feet to get into the woods, which helps make it feel more private, but not so far you need to worry about backpacking in.
I'm looking forward to coming back again. It's an easy getaway from the Cities with far fewer people than a state park (and I love state park camping, don't get me wrong).

We had a wonderful stay! It was cold and rainy but we had plenty of firewood to keep us warm. There were dry 'cardboard logs' left for us that worked wonders. What a great idea!

Amazing trip
This was by far the best place we’ve camped at yet! Brenda was very welcoming always checking up to make sure we were set with everything needed to have the best experience possible I would highly recommend bring your friends and family for a camping trip to this location!

Simple and Effective
Our group of 4 stayed at campsite #2 and it was very cute! Enough space for everyone and far enough away from the road where it was secluded, but close enough to watch a field of cows just down the trail! I would definitely recommend this spot for a quick, minimalistic set up with friends (or solo)!

Wonderful campsite!! Everything was perfect. Great size for a few people to hang out as well as put up ~ 2 small tents. Tree coverage kept us cool from the sun but not cold or swarmed by mosquitos. The walk to the site was easy but far enough away to be hidden. Easy to create and maintain a great fire, lots of fuel.

Welcoming and easy stay!
Brenda was truly welcoming and flexible regarding our specific needs for our rooftop tent. Our dog loved the place as well. She was very communicative in the days leading up to our stay, and while we were there for the night.

Brenda was such a great host. Showed me to my campsite. There it had firewood of all sizes, chairs, a table, and a fire pit. I was greeting in the morning by some very friendly cows across the fence. The mosquitoes were bad but I was expecting that in MN in July. I highly recommend this private campsite!!

We had a delightful time. Site was safe, quiet and private. Brenda added nice simple touches like hurricane candles and a table made from an old wooden pallet. Plenty of kindling and firewood onsite and the compost toilet, while spartan, was clean and serviceable. Beautiful area; lots of places to hike and bike nearby. We even managed to see a Wilson's snipe, which was a real treat! Definitely aim to return.

An amazing campsite. The site was clean, and well taken care of. The owners are super friendly, and offered us a tour of the entire site. Very family friendly with lots of beautiful woods to relax in. If you wanna go camping, but also be in a safe secure wooded area this is the place for you! 10/10 will be back!
