Primitive Hip Camp
Highly recommend! Great place!!!
HIGHLY recommend! We had SUCH a great time at Primitive HC! This place is peaceful and quiet, with some clear and mowed areas and trails, as well as ample wild areas to go explore and adventure in. 40-whole acres to yourself is a true gift. The land is mostly oak trees and cherry trees, and there are beautiful meadow areas to put up a hammock and relax. AMAZING night sky. As a perk, I didn't see any poison ivy in our entire 4-day trip, so if you're worried about that, take note. That's a rarity in Michigan! Sean was communicative and super helpful but honored our space. My partner and I had a great time celebrating our 11-year wedding anniversary here with our dog, who ran wild and free and loved every minute of it. We'll be back for sure! Thanks Sean!

All that and a sleepn’ bag o chips!
We loved this place! Very private, quiet, serene and secluded but within 15 min drive to store if you need anything, multiple sites on property to choose from and all are very clean, a lot of open land to explore and let your dog run wild if your traveling with pets. The host Sean was amazing! Extremely kind and more than willing to help with any needs you might have, he’s also very knowledgeable of the area and can point you in the right direction! We hiked a little of the north country scenic trail as well as the Manistee river trail! Both are highly recommended! Also visited the 5th street beach, the water was so clear and still warm, dog friendly and the beach was very clean as well.

The wonders of nature, tucked away!
Peaceful and quiet, so much space to explore. I spotted a tiny tree frog. Heard hoot owls. It's easy to roam around collecting old branches that make excellent firewood. Plenty of shade options. Recommended: hammocks, nature journals, s'mores. Note: AT&T cell data seems to come and go. A quick zip to downtown Manistee is always an option too!
