When we first arrived, I will say I was hesitant! You will see the gravel pit sign, the directions tell you to turn right onto it, follow it all the way down— when you think “should I keep going?” Yes, all the way, past the gravel and trucks, all the way at the dead end is a lovely spot along a creek! The outhouse was very sturdy, but cobwebby but just sweep it off and it was great (it also faces the woods and is distant from where you park so you can’t hear it from your camp). The creek is not deep, but mid shin deep and very clean! Perfect for dogs and puppies all sizes! There are stairs leading down, a bit steep so not super mobility-impaired people friendly, keep that in mind! Another thing to keep in mind, even though you feel in the middle of nowhere, there is a lot nearby! Town is literally five minutes away with basic stores, theres a race speedway of some sort not far and what sounds like a farm probably a few miles through the woods; its not noisy all day, and it was not bad at all, but if you have any reactive or fearful dogs: just beware! We heard dogs and goats at the farm, the race cars and then fireworks (it was memorial day weekend), but overall nothing bad! And honestly, a decent radio tuned most of it out enough to calm our four dogs during all the noises!
So cute here, great spot once you get set up, clean, and theres a man named Keith who works for the HipCamps owners gravel pit, he is so friendly and helpful!
10/10 stars and hope to be back soon!
