Wonderful Weekend Getaway!!!
This was an awesome place to stay. Cabins are cute, cozy and very clean. The Cumberland River was beautiful as well as the rest of the property. Loved to friendly chicken that came to greet us. Jim and Lora were so friendly and welcomed us upon arrival. I could have chatted with them for hours. I just wish the rest of my family would have enjoyed this place with us instead of staying in their not so great hotel. We will be back and will bring the rest of the family next time.

Great first camping experience!
First time camping since I was very very young. Jim and Lora were very welcoming. Directions were clear and plenty to do on the property. Jim delivered fire wood right to the site. We hiked to see the waterfall and views of the river. Even got to meet their cows. Will be returning.

Moonbow Camp
We loved camping on Jim & Lora's land! It was very private with alot of freedom. We got to see the moonbow at Cumberland Falls easily which was only 20 minutes away. I would highly recommend camping here, and we will be back.

Great place to take a family camping. We enjoyed playing in the creek and river. Has all the amenities you need and they’re kept very clean. There is a bald eagle’s nest across from the property/river.

The camping spot was perfect for a tent!!! Jim was very nice and welcoming. You can't go wrong with this camp ground. The sound of the river put me to sleep every night. Location is perfect also. Short drive to Cumberland Falls State Park and other attractions. The campground is right off of the Copperhead Trail for motorcyclists. I will definitely stay here again if I make my way back to the area. Thanks again Jim!!

Summer Shoals Backwoods
This was my first trip to camp in Southern KY, and after my trip this time I will definitely return. Ji. & Laura gave us out of the world hospitality. My car broke down and I needed a tow. Jim even offered to bring me to town! Offered us coffee while we waited for the tow truck. Camp sites are what you make them, which I love, rather then pre-built camp sites. That being said the property is very well maintained with plenty of acres to camp on! AirBnB for cabins, hipcamp.com for tent sites.

Peaceful, Safe Nature's Playground
I had taken our four boys (9, 7, 3, 2) camping at some campgrounds, but this was our first time using Hipcamp. I couldn't be more pleased with our experience. We came after Labor Day for two nights, so we were the only tent campers in the regular area. We spent time on the river catching minnows, whirlygig beetles, and a dobsonfly larva in our net. We also hiked along the creek that fed into the river. The boys loved the big hill! And we stopped at the waterfall on private property (with directions from Jim), and it was the COOLEST place for the boys to romp around. We really, really enjoyed ourselves!
We had no cell service (no surprise), but Jim let us use his Wifi so I could contact my husband to let him know we made it there safely. I appreciated that. I did feel safe the whole time, even though there weren't many others around. I was a little nervous about being in bear country, but we were careful to clean up food and keep trash contained, and we had zero problems with any animals. And I was thankful that the porta-potty was clean with a solar-light at nighttime. It's good to be able to spot poison ivy; it's impossible to eradicate on that much land, but we avoided it when we saw it, and thankfully, no one got any rash.

Great river camping!
It was absolutely wonderful! Jim and Lora were very kind and helpful and we had a great time hiking to the waterfall and on the river. Using the tubes on a hot day was a great experience and tent camping on the river was lots of fun! The cabins were great too, well kept and cool at night. Had a good time meeting their dog and the chickens!

Great camping for families!
When we decided to go camping by Cumberland Falls we knew we wanted something semi-private since we were camping with 3 kids and 2 dogs so we were so excited about Summer Shoals. When reading the reviews we thought there was no way it could live up to what everybody was saying but our experience was better then we could have imagined! The owners were wonderful and just went above and beyond to make sure our trip was perfect and the propery is beautiful!! We loved our "private beach" and our kids had the best time running around and fishing! Caught some huge catfish! Great place to stay! We will definitely be back soon!!

Peaceful getaway with great hosts
Check all 3 of their listings... You can choose to stay in the woods, by the creek or by the river! Beautiful land with sweet and accomodating hosts. (The eggs... HUGE yolks! Lol) Property has really interesting backstory! There is a bald eagle who frequents the river. Amazing views. Clean! A little piece of heaven.

Spectacular!!
If you are looking for pure, clean countryside that has been preserved for the true nature goers, Summer Shoals is the place to go. Jim and Lora are such humble people and they just make you feel so welcome. Jim took time out of his day to take us around the property. Beautiful!
I love the way that Lora decorated the trails to primitive camping, the bath house, and the cabins. She is very talented. Wading in the waters of the Cumberland River was rejuvenating. We saw the Bald Eagle, went fishing, took hikes, and explored the river banks. We didn't want to leave. If reconnecting with your family without electronics is your goal then you need to visit this small slice of heaven.

Jim & Lora have an amazing property! Beautiful, clean, private, and very well laid out. If we were to come again, I would highly recommend site three as it has the best views of the river. Beyond that... just book it! You'll have everything you need for a great, quiet weekend. Thank you Jim & Lora!

Surpassed all expectations! Camped in my tent by the river the first night. It rained overnight, so for my second night I upgraded to a cabin! Highly recommend cabin #1 as it is closest to the GORGEOUS creek (which is where I spent most of my 2nd day!). Lora and Jim we so kind and hospitable. They truly have a slice of paradise and I fully intend to return. Thanks again so much!!
