Hoosier's on the Ridge is the site of thousands of family memories. The land previously hosted a small little cabin that my grandmother would spend her summers in. It is a hop, skip, and a jump through the woods from my mother's house so there were many a nights running back and forth between the two. Sadly, our beloved cabin in the woods burned down years ago and has since been a spot for our family to get outside and allow the dogs to run and play.  I have managed to maintain the property in order to prevent nature from completely reclaiming the area where the cabin once stood. However, considering our property stretches around 15 acres there is plenty of wilderness to be had. I only maintain the two camp site locations and the rest is untouched.  Upon entering the driveway you will find camp site 1 on your left situated in a quaint meadow. The driveway then continues about a 1/4 mile down to camp site 2 which will open into an opening where one could park their trailer, etc. Further down there is another field which hosts a picnic table and another fire pit. Beyond site 2 there is a deep valley with a stream that runs through. On the other side of the valley there is a large horse farm but on the other side of that, Hoosier National Forest begins.  I hope our guests enjoy this property as much as my family has and continues to do so!  Learn more about this land: Please read the whole description and photo captions-  Also: Please be sure to check out the "extras" and add them before booking for the camper trailer, firewood, bike rentals, hiking options, and much more!  Follow us on Instagram and tag us #HoosiersOnTheRidge  This property used to host a little cabin in the woods but sadly it burned down. What remains is a picturesque location with 3 sites on 12 acres. Campers can set up tents, hammocks, or even small RVs/trucks.  There are three main areas in which to set up camp. For reference, the blue hammock is the front site, red the middle, and green the back in the more recent pictures (1-9). First, upon entering the driveway, there is a meadow to the left with a fire pit, 2 picnic tables, and tiki torches that is flat grass surrounded by forestry (front site/site 1). The second one is on your left after coming into the clearing in the driveway turnaround area. Here there is a flat spot(s) for tent(s), a fire pit, and is surrounded by forest. Parking is available along the tree line about 15 ft from the tent site area (Middle site/site 2). Site three is at the end of the driveway where the cabin used to stand and it too is mostly flat grass but gradually declines into the valley (Back site/site 3). This section also has two fire pits, a picnic table, hammock, etc., and is surrounded by trees. On particularly busy weekends, the back site can be divided into two separate sites so that more people can enjoy the natural wonderland! At the end of the driveway, there is room to park vehicles/small RVs, but beware the turnaround is tough.  The property is 10-15 minutes from BC3 Frisbee Golf Course and a stones throw from Yellowwood State Forest which has many hikes, and connects to the Tecumseh Trail. Yellowwood Lake is less than 5 miles away.  You can even walk. Lake Lemon is a five minute drive. If you are looking for a peaceful spot that's close to Nashville or Bloomington .... come stay with us !!  *When viewing the pictures, please read the captions as they tell which site is which. I wouldn't want your expectations not to be met, if you prefer a specific spot for a specific reason just let me know and I will do my best to accommodate your needs!  * To those with an RV/Camper- please contact me in advance, our maximum length of the whole rig is ~35ft. I also must insist that generators not be used as they are loud and disrupt the peaceful nature of the campsites and may hinder the experience of those at the other site. If you absolutely need power, I can run an extension cord but this is as a last resort. Finally, please do not pull your vehicle beyond where it is outlined to be- for example if there is a tree cut down to section off the grass vs. driveway, please do not move it. :)  *If you are interested in organizing a hunting trip, this is a perfect location as there is plenty of hunting to be done in Yellowwood!  *For those who absolutely require water access, you may fill tanks (5 gal/day stayed) at our house next door.

Back Site
We had a great stay at Riley’s. We appreciated the fire ring and picnic table. The grounds were very pretty and we enjoyed exploring with our dogs and three year old son.

Riley’s place is a gem!
This was our first Hipcamp experience, and Riley’s place was a gem! Our campsite was large and secluded, so even though there were other campers, we still had plenty of privacy. His dogs came to visit, which we really enjoyed, and it was super handy having firewood on the property. We loved it and plan to camp there again!

Back Site
“Lots” to love
This was our second time staying at Hoosier’s on the Ridge w/host Riley. This time - we had family camping (site#3) in celebration of our granddaughter’s 3rd birthday. It is a very large site ~ with much of the great outdoors to enjoy. Many opportunities and areas to set up tents for each family. We will definitely be camping here again….Lord willing 🙂

We had a great time camping on Riley’s land! We were on the back site, which was very spacious. Plenty of flat ground to set up 5 tents. The dogs were the best, so sweet. They show up when the cooking starts! We’ll be back for sure. Thanks again, Riley!

Camping at Riley's!
My husband and I loved camping at Riley's campsite. We rented the front site and it was so beautiful. We were fully surrounded by trees. It was a peaceful night with beautiful scenery.

Primitive Camping for 2
Super nice area! The first and last sites are by far the best. While the middle site is woodsy, it is small, slanted, and less private from the other sites. Riley was a helpful host, and the site amenities were great. We will be back!

Private campsite surrounded by tree
Lovely campsite surrounded by gorgeous mature trees. Picnic table and a bench for cooking prep. Owners dogs are so sweet and friendly. We had a two night stay on the back campsite - very private. I have a feeling that campers other than Hip Campers use the sites, but we did our part and left the place pristine.

The back site is spacious, we set up two tents and a canopy and still had plenty of room! All the sites are well kept. Highly recommend adding yoga to your experience, and don’t forget to check out downtown Nashville!

Disc golf lightning bug yoga
Camped in the back spot with a group of friends. Great spot, plenty of options to pop your tent, wonderful lightning bug shows, room to set up a disc golf basket. It would have been quiet if it weren’t for the seven kids that we brought along. Riley came down to see if we needed anything- he has done very good work in creating some lovely camp sites. We opted for Saturday morning yoga which I would recommend. The yoga instructor was very knowledgeable and engaged with yellowwood and the surround area. We even saw her setting off with a paddle boarding group about an hour after the yoga session. I recommend booking this one.

This is an awesome alternative to the state parks in Brown County. The sites are nice; big fire pits and plenty of room for single family/tent groups. If you’ve got multiple tents, book the back 2 sites. We did. It was awesome. Waking up to camp breakfast and a private yoga class was great as well! Erica (yoga instructor) gave us some nice info on a short hike to a stream for the kiddos to play and relax in. Why not? You are also close to yellowwood, Nashville, Bloomimgton, BC3, and a number of other great spots.

Awesome weekend getaway. Sites aren’t too close to each other which allowed for privacy. Riley also had firewood available which was fantastic! The area is close to yellowwood forest and other lakes/hiking areas. Will definitely be back and highly recommend!

We stayed on the far back site as a group of 6 with 3 tents. The site was super spacious and well laid out. Directions and parking were super easy. Riley was quick and cooperative with communication.

The middle campground was spacious, with lots of space on both sides of the drive. Very quiet location. Front site was occupied but we were far back enough to not hear or see them. The back site was not occupied but is close to the middle site. Riley stopped by to say hello but we didn’t get any visits from the pups. Overall a great site, would definitely recommend!

Great spot for moto camping
Riley was super accommodating to our group of four doing some motorcycle camping. His spot is pretty close to the southern eyes adventure trail and is super quiet. Highly recommend.

Camping for Memorial Weekend
Camping at Hoosier on the Ridge was great! Riley's place was a great getaway. The campsite was in a wonderful part of Nashville, nicely secluded but close to tons of hikes. Riley was a great host as well!

Private tent camping
We loved tent camping at the back camp site on Riley’s land! It was very private and spacious. It also had nice views. There were a few other campsites nearby on his property, but we still had plenty of room to ourselves and it still felt private. We hope to be back soon!

I had a great experience at Hoosiers on the Ridge. The camp site was great and there was a lot of great mountain biking nearby. If I come back to the area again I will likely stay here again. Recommended for anyone visiting in the Brown county or Monroe county area. Close to Indiana U but seems a world away at the same time.

plenty of stars, tucked away near a state forest. super neat. bring some dry firewood. Riley was a great host, had a little trouble getting to the site, but i followed his instructions and made it there with no trouble.

We stayed at the back camp site - TONS of space. Lots of privacy and separation from the other sites. The only downside to the back site is that most of it is sloped slightly downhill, but other than that we all had a great stay!

Great site. Lots of room and privacy. Great fire pit, hammock set up, and even presently surprised there was a picnic table. Would definitely book again or recommend it to someone going to the brown county area. Extremely close to the Yellowwood state forest and very close to the state park.

We had such a great time at Hoosier’s on the Ridge. Riley is very friendly and has the cutest pups! They played so well with ours and we loved that our pups could run free. We stayed at site 3 and loved how private is was. We will be back!
