a summer getaway success
Tom was great at communicating during the reservation process (and we booked last minute), and Anna warmly greeted us upon arrival & brought us over to the campsite, which is located in a secluded wooded clearing between a hayfield and wetland.
They allowed us use of their backyard fishing spot (complete with friendly goats and ducks) and even gave us some fresh eggs for breakfast (what a treat!). Bug spray was a life saver, and we enjoyed the coyote howls at night, multitude of bird songs in the morning, and generous supply of firewood.
While you can hear cars and trains at this primitive campsite (no water, table, toilet), you have the space to yourself and a pretty pastural view, which is exactly what we needed, just 15 minutes away from Winthrop Harbor where we enjoyed a fishing charter.

Charming site w/ friendly hosts!
2 sites available. I stayed nearing the house right near the banks of a charming little river. Roaring fire already goi h for me when I arrived after dark. Anna, the host, is incredibly welcoming. Baby goats, geese and ducks abound and love to be fed... if you’re into that kind of thing

Flexible and respectful
Tom was really flexible with our group, and I appreciated that he showed up wearing a mask. We were a mixed group from both sides of the boarder looking for a safe outdoor place for a few hours together around a fire. One couple from our group decided last minute to stay the night, and Tom never showed frustration with our plans.
The sounds from the road are a thing, but the site was truly far from roads. It was perfect for our group and we were thankful to find Tom's place literally right between Milwaukee and Chicago!

Much more enjoyable in September
This was my 2nd stay at The Old Corris Family Farm.
The first stay didn't go so well through no fault of Tom's. The heat and bugs back in July really got to me and I ended up cutting my trip short.
This stay was night and day compared to the last. It was cool and virtually bug free.
The site is secluded, and quite large. The fire pit is 5 feet in diameter. There's lots of room.
You will be alone and unbothered unless you message Tom for more firewood. Then he'll come by and drop it off.
Know that in the summer months the bugs are seriously no joke. You will need bug repellent of some sort. I would recommend bringing a can of yard fogger and some Deep Woods Off.
This stay I didn't use any of the bug repellent I brought with me. It was glorious.
In conclusion, I highly recommend Tom's place in the cooler months. The heat and mosquitoes are too harsh for me in the summer. I'll stay in the summer again, but I'll keep an eye on the upcoming temps for that weekend.
The bugs can be controlled. If you enjoy the heat, you may like it in the Summer.

Seclusive site with no one around
My husband and I totally enjoyed this site over the labor day weekend with no neighbors around. The site is in some oak grove in the middle of some hay field. The "hike" is about 5 mins from where we park, and Tom gave us a ride on his 4-wheeler to carry our heavy gear into the site. He gave us a HUGE pile of wood for $10.
The only negatives are his direction on the confirmation email is an alternative site by the river, which is in his backyard. You can also hear the road, train, and the post office truck backing up all morning on Sat.
I still enjoy the campsite, and would definitely come back.

Good spot for secluded camping
My kids (5 and 7) were eager to go on their first camping trip. They had a great time. They loved seeing the baby goats, having a campfire and seeing the stars. And the campsite is very secluded so there were no problems being socially distanced. Tom warned us about the mosquitoes, and he wasn't kidding! But we still had fun and the site was very much as described.

Secluded in nature with internet.
Awesome site tucked a good ways away from everything. Lots of shade, but plenty of breaks in the trees if you want to sit in the sun. I'm not sure of Tom's limit, but you could easily pitch 4 to 6 two-person tents throughout this site.
There is a lot of mosquitoes. The site is near marsh/swamp land. My Thermacell did a really good job at keeping them away.
There is road and train noise, but I found it more than tolerable.
I also had service on my phone (T-Mobile). So I was able to enjoy modern conveniences while hanging out in nature.
There's also a Kwik Trip, a TA truck stop, and a bar nearby.
My suggestions.
Pack light.
Bring bug repellent in some form.
If it rained recently, wear shoes you don't care about.
Pay the $10 to have your wood waiting for you. Worth every penny.
Overall, I will definitely return. I'm hoping to book a weekend in September or October.

Lovely property with adorable animals. Camp site was across the street on their private property. Very secluded and a great layout.
Just be prepared with a water jug and TP and you’ll be living!

This is a great campsite and Dan was friendly, helpful, and very responsive. We biked in from the Waukegan Metra station, pitched our two small tents, and had a great time exploring the area (on bikes and off) and sitting around the fire. The site itself is beautiful, only a few minutes from Wisconsin (and a case of New Glarus) and very close to the Lake Michigan Circle Tour route. I hope to come through again as part of a longer tour.

LOVED IT!
Tom was really helpful and very laid back. It was a beautiful little get away and exactly what I wanted. The camping area was perfect amount of space to walk around and enjoy the campfire. We also loved that Tom had a petting farm 10 minutes away and we pet the most friendly cute goats and sheep! Highly recommend !

It was just what we we're looking for. Some fresh air away from the city. The camp is in a little wood area in the middle of some fields. Definitely secluded and primitive. If it has rained or is going to rain, definitely take some waterproof boots. Just a little swampy entering and exiting the camp. Tom is happy to transport you and your gear to the site on his fourwheeler as well.
