In 2010 Dan Grabel and Andy Brown realized their professional dream of owning a summer camp and started Camp Manitowa in Benton, IL. We've since hosted thousands of kids, families, and groups. In 2017 we acquired Camp Cedar Point, a beautiful former Girl Scout camp founded in the early 1950's, in Makanda, IL. In addition to summer camp, we host yoga retreats, music festivals, weddings, scout groups, and individuals throughout the year. Since canceling many of our large group programs because of COVID, we've been able to offer hundreds of families a safe, private, physically distanced camp experience where they have access to everything our camp has to offer.  We offer a beautiful setting in the Crab Orchard National Wildlife Refuge with canoeing and kayaking on 1200 acre Little Grassy lake, hiking, hiking, basketball court, frisbee golf course, arts & crafts, campfires, and more! Zip lining, horseback riding, rock climbing available only 20 minutes off site. Guests should bring their own bedding and food that they can cook in the yurt village on bbq pit and propane stove.

Peaceful place
Beautiful and peaceful place to camp. We were with our kids and they enjoyed the woods, the lake, seeing all the wild nature. It's a great place! Thank you Chad for providing us with a lamp, stove, fans. We had a great time.

Camp Manitowa - Cedar Point Yurt #2
We stayed for a weekend and had a great time. It rained but we got plenty of fire wood and enjoyed sitting by the fire under the pavilion for a very relaxing weekend. We're definitely opening on coming back next year!

Late spring getaway... much needed!
Nice quiet campground. We really enjoyed camping in the yurt. Nice quiet lake with a perfect swim area. Very close to Giant City State Park (dont miss it!... highly recommend a spending a day there hiking). Make sure you bring all of your provision with you to the campground as there is no camp store for ice, snacks, etc. Would do a repeat stay in the yurt, for sure!

Camp Manitowa - Cedar Point Yurt #1
This stay was the highlight to my trip in southern Illinois. The camp was quiet, very clean and oh so beautiful (the dogwoods were in full bloom). The host was awesome and super helpful and friendly. Im definitely coming back.
