What an incredible site! Private, serene, and on our favorite side of the island. I don’t quite understand the sub-par reviews on here. It’s a campsite. No frills. Bugs weren’t bad while we were there, though we came prepared. The toilets and showers were basic, as one would expect at a campsite. My partner was concerned about “cold showers” but it’s Hawai’i. After a day at the beach with all the sand and salt, we found them refreshing.
I wasn’t exactly prepared for the program but I think it’s important for anyone visiting the islands to give back and to learn about good stewardship of the land.
Our stay has left a lasting impression on us. My partner even suggested that we camp throughout the islands for the entirety of our next trip.
The windward side of the island healed all impressions from my only other trip to O’ahu, which was 24 hours in Honolulu. If you are expecting Waikiki, stay in Waikiki. But if you want a taste of real Hawai’i, don’t even hesitate to stay here. Beautiful beaches, incredible food, small towns, little traffic, and friendly people who are just living life peacefully.
Mahalo, Manny!
