Santa Fe River Cabin

The campsite sits on second-growth forest in the Santa Fe river basin. There was logging of the first-growth wood, and turpentining. I found a tree face with a turpentine pot when I bought the place. The Santa Fe river starts in Lake Santa Fe, then meanders until it goes underground at O'Leno State Park, near High Springs. After re-emerging above ground, the river is fed by a number of freshwater springs. It flows west for several miles and is joined by the Itchetucknee river, and together they empty into the Suwannee River which flows to the gulf. There are many boating, floating, fishing and nature-watching opportunities in the area. The cabin started off as a screened pavillion, with a tin roof and concrete floor. It's undergone recent renovations, including the installation of antique windows that came from the Hippodrome theater building. There are windows running the length of the cabin on both sides, with screened open air sections above to invite the breeze. Ceiling fans and a floor fan are present as well.  Clear panels and another window fill the rear wall. This gives the cabin a light and breezy feeling, tucked into nature. It's simply furnished, with curtains in the sleeping area. Learn more about this land: Private best describes my camp. Once you book the campsite (or cabin) I block the other one so you and your party have the place to yourselves. In addition to my cabin site, I am offering a bare bones campsite for those who need just that. It is suitable for those with a tent, campervan, or a truck with small camper, or a small rv. It includes level parking, a 110v outlet, a water connection to the well, a bath house with a flush toilet and a warm water shower. Campers have access to an outdoor kitchen, a communal area with seating around the firepit and a children's play area.

Site was good location. We felt that it could have been cleaner. Wiped down inside the cabin And the bathroom had mildew.

Cozy rustic cabin ready for summer
What a lovely place! Very responsive, gracious host. The cabin was comfy, had everything we could possibly want or need and we loved how there were windows all the way around the cabin. It was peaceful and relaxing. We even saw some deer walking through the property. Our dog LOVED IT HERE - he didn’t want to leave. And the horse trailer turned into a bath house was very clever and worked great - plenty of hot water. Thank you so very much Lee - it was a wonderful stay.

Perfect Little Cabin
It was very clean. Lots of outside seating options. I love the bathroom, the idea of turning an animal trailer, to a bathroom and shower. Very cute. It was very well lit at night to go from the cabin to the bathroom. The host gave clear directions how to get there. 15 minute ride from the Springs. I would run stay there again.

Private campsite, with flush toilet
Good location for group camping
This site was very nice. We loved the little kitchen area and the table with inset sink was super useful. There was plenty of space for car toppers, lots of flat ground for tents, and perfect trees for hammocks! We truly appreciated all of the chairs available around the campfire area which made for relaxing evenings. As mentioned, there was plenty of firewood around for scavenging. It is a perfect spot for anyone with a boat as there is a ramp just down the road that drops you right onto the Santa Fe. It is a perfect home base for anyone wanting to enjoy the springs, especially Ichetucknee. There was a trash bin and a recycling bin provided, making it easy to keep clean. I will say that it is not as private as stated in the description. There are a number of houses right there; many of which have very loud dogs when new people are near (and especially if you bring a dog). We had planned for small fireworks (it was New Years) and some music, and felt conscious with neighbors nearby. Overall, we would 100% stay there again now knowing where our expectations should be. The proximity to natural areas is wonderful, plus there are a few amenities nearby (Publix, gas stations, etc), to replenish ice or any other needs.
