Beautiful, but had a bad experience
The site was beautiful and the view from the lookout was amazing! Unfortunately, we had some items taken from the picnic table while we were at the lookout point. Since we received an initial email from the host after booking saying there had been someone trespassing at the site in the past, we got a bit freaked out that someone was watching us and took our items when we stepped away. We ended up leaving early. The host refused to refund us for leaving early. Luckily, the hipcamp support team was understanding and was able to help us resolve this issue.

Quiet spot
Quiet, secluded spot. There are homes nearby, but you won’t see anyone. We heard some far away voices and a dog barking a few times, but otherwise it was peaceful. The shade tarp over the picnic table was awesome. It cooled the site down by 10 degrees, it seemed. The little overlook is nice. We didn’t catch a sunset, but I’m sure it’s lovely. I brought my T@B camping trailer up there and was mildly challenged by the road into the site. Going slow and watching for branches was key. The area I could park was not level, so if you’re going to bring a small camper, bring your levelers too. Nice spot. About an hour from Salida. I will return.

Quiet and beautiful.
What a wonderful place! We followed the cairns at sunset to see one of the most breathtaking views of my life. The camp was clean and quiet.

Sunny Forest Camp With Superb Views
As advertised- beautiful views from the chairs at the lookout spot! And nice that the fire ring, picnic table and sun shade are provided. Felt like a great balance of feeling secluded, but saw enough other houses along the way that it wasn't too remote.

Great Tent Camping Site!
Once you get to the site it’s awesome. I would recommend a truck or SUV even though the listing says a car can make it. It probably “could” but I wouldn’t especially if it had been raining. Some of the inclines on the switchbacks are pretty steep and it’s a dirt road. I want to say how pleasantly surprised I was at what such awesome shape the road was in though. I’ve been on some bad back country roads but this one was so well kept that I had no probs. There’s not a mountain view at the site but there are some gorgeous ones on the way up to it where you can stop and take some photos. The site itself is awesome! There’s a large grassy area where you could set up a volleyball net or something like that and there’s plenty of shaded areas. The host put up a great sun shade over a picnic table which was super thoughtful as well as a chair by the firepit which was stocked with firewood (though I didn’t use it because of the burn ban here in CO) This site was remote enough that I felt like I was alone but still close enough to homes on the main road that if there had been an emergency I could have gotten help. This would be a great spot for families to come for a few days and unplug! Just remember to bring water! There’s no water source and the host made sure to say that in the listing which was great. I brought 6 gal of freshwater for my dogs and I for 2 days and we had no issues. Beautifully clean site with plenty of space. I would definitely stay there again!
