Enjoy our quaint pond with a pier and waterfall shack, feed the fish and ducks, take a ride on the paddle boat, swing on 2 long tree swings, a climbing rope swing or read a good book on a hammock. Discover climbing hand and foot holds on several trees. If you are going to the Sand Dunes, you may want to rent our sand sleds for thrilling rides down one of Colorado's natural wonders (we have two adult and one child size). Enjoy stunning views of Mount Blanca with amazing stargazing.  Enjoy campfire s'mores at our secluded firepit. Take night walks amidst charming fairy lights in Mason Jars.  Try Pondside-Site #1, with a view of the pond; or Tree Grove-Site #2, nestled in the trees with lovely afternoon shade (no pond view).  Both sites have equal access to all amenities. Though your campsite is near Alamosa and off of highway 160, you will enjoy quiet country seclusion. We are located in the San Luis Valley, home of the beautiful Great San Dunes National Park and Preserve.

First off, the hosts, Heather and Patrick were so friendly, accommodating and welcoming!! We could not have better hosts! The property is beautifully arranged for campers. We stayed near the pond and enjoyed the paddle boat and the duck family. It was so peaceful!! It is a perfect location if visiting Great Sand Dunes NP. We highly recommend staying at Heather and Patrick’s Hipcamp. We would absolutely book again!!

Serene setting with amazing hosts!
Camp Pondside was a fantastic spot to call home base while we explored the Alamosa area! Heather and Patrick were outstanding hosts - they expertly mastered the delicate balance between being warm, helpful and available with giving lots of space and privacy. The site itself is so, so charming! Clean, well manicured, with a beautiful pond, mature trees with fairy lights and hammocks, lots for the kiddos to do. Heather was so kind and patient with our super social 10 year old, and spent so much time with her. We fed the ducks, paddled the boat, strolled the grounds, watched the twinkling lights at night, and felt cozy and at home. Easy hook ups, with a free dumping station just a few miles away. Our hosts also had sand boards and sleds for rent, which was super convenient, as well as great suggestions for a more locals take on things to do. We would 150% stay here again and recommend this spot to others!

Peaceful evening away from the city
My partner and I were not here for long, just a late evening and an early morning. But the hosts were so incredibly friendly and helpful, and gave us plenty of privacy and space to enjoy the beautiful property. Highly recommend!

This site was very peaceful. Beautiful property with power and water available. The site was level and even though opened to the back yard it seemed very private. It was fairly close to the sand dunes which we spent two days at playing with the dogs. We would definitely return if in the area. Thank you so much Heather and your grandson did a great job hosting!

We camped one night on Heather's campground in the shady Grove Campsite. It was very pleasant, quiet and cool. Our grandkids enjoyed the ducks, pond, paddle boat and hammocks. We also rented sandboards for Great Dunes and went at night! I highly recommend her campsite. It was far superior to any of the commercial camps we have used on this extended trip.

Camping with our Grandchildren
We had a wonderful 4 nights at Heather’s Camp and we were extremely grateful for the wonderful Russian Olive shade trees at campsite 2. The children loved the boat, ducks and playing in the garden. So much to explore in the area. We would certainly go back.

Beautiful place to spend a few days. Convenient location to fun things to do in the valley. Kind and helpful hosts! We even go to feed ducks and fish whole there. The biggest surprises were the Great Horned Owl and Sand Hill Crane

1st time camping with our dog LuLu
It was my wife and I's first time camping in Colorado. We spent half time hip-camping and other times camping at national parks, of our all hip camps Heather's places was awesome. She was very accommodating and pet friendly.. we were here for one night but we were still able to enjoy the lights around the property at night and before we left we took a spin on the paddle boat. We would recommend this spot fof anyone staying in the area traveling to the Sand Dunes. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

A most relaxing 3 days
As my first hipcamp experience, this one sets the standard for all others to meet. One of the most pleasant campsites I've ever had. Grassy, shady, secluded, the pond and ducks were relaxing and entertaining, and Heather and her daughter were so friendly and fun to talk to! The Great Sand Dunes National Park is 1/2 hour away by car. Some great places to eat in Alamosa and Monte Vista. There is an excellent RV dump station at the Maverick station 6 miles east in Alamosa, a little past the Walmart.

A green oasis in the high desert!
We loved our camping spot next to the pond with Heather! She greeted us with super fun solar powered fairy lights in a mason jar. Heather was quick to respond to our request to check in early. It allowed us to check out Mesa Verde NP without our teardrop. Heather’s property is a green oasis! Other campgrounds in the area are dustbowls. The property is super close to both Mesa Verde NP and Zapata Falls.

My wife,me and dog stayed at Camp Tree Grove in a 34 ft class A with slides. A most beautiful spot nestled between russian olive trees provided peace and quiet. When the evening arrives, the solar powered "fairy lights" Heather has put in each tree light up and create an enchanting atmosphere. The whole property is beautiful and peaceful. What a find. We will be back again

BEST camping near Great Sand Dunes!
What an amazing, lovely, peaceful place to stay! The property is so beautiful. We stayed in the Tree Grove site, under enormous olive trees. We watched birds and clouds during the day, and fairy-lights in the trees at night. Heather and Patrick welcomed us upon arrival, and we got the royal tour of the property, which includes a duck pond with paddleboat, and lots of hammocks and swings. They encouraged us to make use of everything, and then left us to enjoy our stay. We truly wish this gem was closer to home! We would visit often!

Perfect stay!
This is without a doubt the greatest stay we have had so far. The pond and ducks were lovely, the host were the kindest and did everything they could to make sure we had a great stay. Our daughter absolutely loved the paddleboat in the pond, feeding the ducks, playing around the campsite, and visiting with the other kids that were staying the same night as us. We ate at Locavores and it was just what we needed, spud was great and my wife enjoyed the white fish tacos. Great Sand Dunes were great to see and play on, wears you out quickly though. THANK YOU!

Peaceful stop
We loved our stay. Very peaceful but close to Alamosa and the Dunes. We enjoyed watching the ducks in the pond. We even named them! The site was easy to get in and out. Good water. The electric would kick off and on from time to time. Not sure if it was on their end but our inverter said there was low voltage. Never off for more than 30 seconds. Heather and Patrick were very nice and provided a gift and tips on what to do in the area. Great spot for our 3 day stay!

Enchanted Camping
Heather and Patrick are such welcoming hosts with an enchanting set up that includes a mini forest illuminated with fairy lights, trees with grips for climbing, and swings that glide out over the duck pond that also hosts a quaint paddle boat all framed by our National Sand Dunes and purple mountains majesty. We were given excellent advice to maximize our enjoyment of the Park including sand sledding boards that our hosts rent. We cannot wait to return. Thank you Heather and Patrick!

We selected camp pondside because we were camping with two three year olds and thought the activities would be good to entertain them as well as proximity to take them to the sand dunes. It did not disappoint! It was exactly what we needed in those regards. We were in #2 and although you are pretty close to the main house there is pretty good cover in between. Do keep in mind for those that are looking for your more traditional/ remote camping experiences this is not your golden ticket for that. #2 is very close to a road #1 maybe 50 yards, and the whole site is a half mile from a main highway. Also, there are mosquitos on account of the pond but we only had issues that had to be mitigated in the mornings and dusk. Hosts were great, again, loved the spot!

Beautiful, quiet oasis
Absolutely wonderful! I stayed at this beautiful oasis for one night last week together with a friend, who came in her own trailer and took the second spot. Our hosts were exceptional, even gave us each a welcome gift, a beautiful candle. The view of the pond was beautiful both at sunset and during the day. Since we had our dogs with us we only said hi to the ducks at a distance, but I really enjoyed having them walk around the trailer in the morning. We will definitely be back!!

Beautiful Stay!
We loved our stay at the Pond site. The owners were so lovely and even gave us a cute fairy lantern gift. My girls loved the ducks, swings, and paddle boat! I enjoyed a nice walk with our dog around the property. This is a perfect place to stay if you’re in the area. Quiet, peaceful, and only 20 mins to Great Sand Dunes National Park!
