a great experience
Overall we had a great experience. Unfortunately, The firewood and the marshmallow that we ordered bringed to us until 3 more hours later when we arrived the campsite. the host said he will be back with them at the first. but he forgot it at all. we waited for a long time until my husband went to the visitors centre to ask. but at the end ,a nice man bringed them to us and help us to fired the firewood. any way, thank you so much.my big boy siad he will be back with his friends next time.

First class yurt/tent
Great place to stay for a weekend. Clean, incredible hiking trails and plent of space between sites. The staff were so helpful, brought us firewood and even brought us a cool beverage. I’d definitely do this again.

Fun and easy!
We had a great family adventure in the yurt! Super comfy beds and easy access to very clean bathrooms! The hosts were incredibly nice.
You can bring a couple sleeping bags and very little else- easy drive into town for food and anything else
you need, but you feel like you’re camping in the middle of nowhere. Great hiking- don’t miss the planet walk by the observatory!
It’s pricey but worth it for a stress free camping trip. Bring bikes if you have kiddos.

We loved glamping at John’s campsite. Location was nice and shaded. Perfect for meals at the picnic table. Tent was big, yet cozy. The camp host came by a few times to check on us too. A great campground to visit

No Host, Hot Water, or Heater
The tent was nice, however a few things happened that caused our stay to be less than perfect. No hot water at all for 2 + days! We should have been notified of this ahead since we paid extra to go “Glamping” and hot water would have been a deal breaker. No WiFi at our location, even though we paid premium rate for it. One blanket on bed, no heater. Froze all night long and woke up exhausted, even after putting on several layers of clothing. Last but not least, NO Camp Host! We under that everyone needs a day off, but aren’t you supposed to have backup hosts? Frozen because we had no heater which was one of the items available for Glamping. So freeze all night, can’t flush toilets, and no hot water, and no host! Thank God a volunteer loaned us her heater the second night, as we were going to have to pack up & leave. Had we known this we would not have booked. Cars driving by randomly all day and some of the evening. No wood in space as no camp host. Had to buy from store. Upside was that it was a beautiful location and one of the prettiest ever. I wish that I could say that it was a perfect stay. I don’t think it’s fair I paid $300+ for Glamping and ended up camping without the basics I would have normally had. I believe a partial refund should happen due to this experience.

Great Experience!
This campsite was great. Very shady and I loved the yurt. The mattresses were comfortable and being 7 months pregnant with twins, I’m not comfortable on many mattresses. The firewood was provided as advertised. WiFi is available, but only at the visitor’s center. The showers cost $0.25 per minute, but were well kept considering this is a public park. Plenty of outhouses throughout the park as well for your midnight potty runs. Jeff and Angie were our hosts and they were extremely approachable and helpful. I definitely would book this site again and maybe even the bigger site when we have more people! Thank you for a great weekend 😊

Bring your bikes!
This was a great way to get the benefits of camping without the full hassle of it- packing and setting up camp was incredibly pleasant when almost everything was set up for you. The provided firewood is a $25 value so you should consider that with the costs. We got the main tent and even though we didn’t use the annex tent it was a nice advantage to be that much more separated from the neighboring campsite. We felt this is one of the most premium sites at Sugarloaf (and this was our 4th time there- first time glamping). Would definitely do it again. The camphosts are incredibly hospitable and nice. The bathrooms are the cleanest and best equipped of any campsite we have been to. The paved loop for biking for the kids was the main attraction. This campground is a gem and the glamping aspect just leveled it up many notches for us! Thanks to Jeff and Angela for being great hosts!

This Glamping site was great for us. We enjoyed the ease of not having to set up our own tent and the extra space this tent provided—more than enough space for the three of us. We would love to stay here again the next time we come to the area :)

The camping site was very peaceful
Under trees up against a hillside
The tent was a great size for 2 people.
The wood and fire pit was a very nice touch

We enjoyed the concept however the extra linen that was requested was not provided as was promised via email request. Also day of arrival we requested to use 2nd tent and when we arrived after our wedding function there was a combination lock preventing access at that point nothing we could do about it. I had sent additional emails and placed calls to sugarloaf to be sure everything was in order and found communication difficult I received only 1 response after sending 3 emails and placing 1 phone call. Fortunate we brought along some sheets blankets and sleeping bags just in case. Also the listing indicates porta potty on site which also is not the case

We love tent camping and it was a nice change to do glamping instead with a very nice canvas tent, comfortable foam bed, and seating. Well shaded with a great view of the mountains.

Glamping under the Stars
This was a wonderful camping experience. The glamping tent was clean, comfortable, and spacious. Loved the comfy mattress and night stands. We also brought our own standard camping tents that our (adult) children stayed in - there's plenty of space for them on the site.
We scheduled our visit coincident with the public stargazing night at the Robert Ferguson Observatory (see rfo.org). It was a great activity to go along with our wonderful family time in the outdoors.
Bathrooms / showers at Sugarloaf are among that cleanest and best maintained of any campground we've stayed at.

Father and son bonding trip. 10/10
I took my 12 year old son for his first camping trip with just him and dad. The tent was awesome! Very comfortable and in a nice, semi private, shady spot. I brought sheets and pillows, some snacks, meat to grill and that was all we needed.
The restrooms and the showers are clean and close by.
The fire pit was loaded and ready to go. We made friends with another single dad and his son, camping next to us. We pooled our meat and ended a memorable outdoor feast with s’mores in the evening before bed. I purchased the s’mores kit from them and it was perfect. We did a short hour and half hike, seeing deer, a couple small snakes and a lot of birds.
The couple running the grounds, Angela and Jeff were very cool and told us about the observatory and other cool things to check out. I will definitely return and I highly recommend the glamming for newbie campers.

We had the most relaxing two nights at the yurt in Sugar Loaf. I was most impressed by how well-maintained and clean the bathrooms and campgrounds were. There were lots of staff available to help, keeping the grounds in top condition. Our yurt was so nice and spacious and was in a very well-shaded site. We had no complaints!

Great spot, shaded almost all day. Tent was clean. Listing states WiFi - note that WiFi is only available at the visitor center, not at the site. Also no porta potty on site as the listing stated. Overall, great site for a couple of nights.

A small group of friends (5 people total) and I stayed for two days and we had a lovely experience. Checking in at the visitor’s center was a breeze, all of the volunteers and camp hosts we spoke to were kind, and the site was clean and ready for us when we arrived. Our site was shaded throughout the day which was great considering how hot it was. The tent was pretty spacious and was great at keeping warmth in without getting stuffy during the cooler (and somewhat damp) evenings. The beds and seating options in the tent were very comfortable and clean as well. The only thing that was a bit odd was covering payment for more than one vehicle. Keep in mind that you will have to pay $10/day for each additional vehicle once you arrive and check in at the visitor’s center because you won’t be charged via Hipcamp. Regardless, the process of paying was easy and the visitor’s center has a bunch of goodies and camp essentials. I can’t wait to go camping here again!
