Located within 45 minutes of the wine country and 2 miles from the coast, our property is 400 acres of rolling hills and redwood groves, with a creek running along its base. With miles of trails meandering through quiet woods and meadows, you will be able to revel in the tranquility of a private preserve, without sacrificing easy access to some of Sonoma County's most famous attractions. A hundred years ago, this land was used to graze sheep. Remnants of the old fence lines can still be seen in places, along with old cement troughs. Since then, the land has been left to its own devices, passing through many hands, most famously owned by two brothers in the 1980's who built a truly amazing tree house in the forest which has been featured in several magazine articles. It was revamped and updated in 2016 by a master craftsman, using fallen redwood logs found on the property and is now a unique structural work of art, available for overnight stays. We produce 100% grass fed, dry-aged beef on our certified organic pastures and have a store on site if you would like to purchase delicious steaks, ribs, ground beef for hamburgers or some roasts to take home. Our cattle graze on the native grasses, never grain, and drink only water produced from our own springs. We also raise Kiko meat goats and produce pastured, certified organic duck eggs on a commercial basis. Whether it's surfing at sandy beaches, award-winning clam chowder, a wine tour, horseback riding or a hot air balloon ride you're after, you won't have far to drive if you make our ranch your base camp. You may see a family of deer appear suddenly, or a few Scottish Highland cows which we allow to roam freely over the property. There are over twenty species of wild birds that grace this protected spot, so bring your binoculars! A portion of your fee goes towards protecting native flora and fauna as part of our private wildlife preservation program. A limited number of private, widely spaced camp spots are available for visitors. The Eagles' Nest Treehouse (mentioned above) is very isolated and you may or may not even be aware that there are other people within miles of you. For those who value nature, seclusion, quiet and the artistry of old growth redwood, this is the place for you.

The campsite was very well maintained. The tent paddock at site #3 overlooked the creek a bit and was tucked away. Quiet and cozy!

Site 3 - Creekside Camp
Peaceful, Quiet, Remote and Wild!
We loved camping here! We’ve had a lot of misses with other hipcamp sites, but we were very happy to finally get a win with this place. Site #3 was perfect for us, as it’s tucked away from the other sites, and even has it’s own wooden platform for tents overlooking the creek. Sites #1 and #2 were also very nice, but closer together. The picnic table wasnt splintery, the fire pit was perfect, and we were thankful that each site has it’s own shovel and rake. Poison oak is definitely taking over the brush, so I’m not sure how it would be in the summer, but it’s clear that the sites are maintained and the poison oak is kept back. The portapotty was clean, but it was the only drawback to this lovely place. Never ideal sitting over a dark hole in the woods (spiders!?). Still, I dont see how they can improve it. Better than nothing! The hike across the creek was tranquil and easy. Lots of beautiful trees and clearly a lot of wildlife around. We were a little spooked by the mountain lion warning signs, but do keep in mind that no one has ever been attacked by a puma in Sonoma County! Coyote calls at night were fun, and we did arrive to find that some large critter had a left a “gift” on top of our picnic table! This place is definitely wild and full of life! For firewood and supplies, try the bodega store on the corner before turning down Salmon Creek. If you’re looking for a beautiful, remote campsite that isnt too far off, then this spot is for you! We’ll be back!

An amazing stay!
Easiest 5 star review I could ever give. The treehouse is beautiful, secluded and an amazing escape to the wilderness. We spent our days wandering the many acres of farmland and forest and our nights grilling delicious organic meat from the farm and playing card games in the treehouse. John and Lesley are extremely responsive with any questions. Everything was perfect.

Beautiful treehouse stay!
We just loved our stay at the Treehouse!! It was beautiful and serene, absolutely gorgeous trees. The house was very clean and had everything we needed. John was very helpful in teaching us how to use the heater, which was wonderful to have. We were very cozy. I brought my 2 kids, 1 slept in the bed with me and another on a twin size blow up mattress on the floor, which worked perfectly! We will definitely be returning. Make sure to pick up some amazing meat and eggs on our way out! Kim

Amazing spot. Very quiet and serene. Hosts were friendly and helpful. As some others have mentioned, if you were able to get sites 1 and 2 together, would make for a great larger spot, as they are somewhat close together.

Amazing for families and kids.
Salmon Creek Ranch was an incredible place to camp with our kids. John, the host, went beyond the call by asking if our kids would like to help out with farm chores during the day. From helping feed goats and cows to picking duck eggs and washing them the experience was one to remember. Campsite was nice and secluded with the ability to camp under the redwoods. I would say our campsite seemed to be the only one that didn't have a fire pit inside the redwoods. It was quite exposed. That's the only mini-negative thing. Will definitely come back and check out some of the 4x4 trails in the back of the property!

Beautiful site, loved all the hiking/walking/biking trails on the property and our dog did too. Road is as described, glad we had 4WD but definitely manageable and well worth it with the reward of a lovely private campsite at the end.

A magical, serene treehouse in the redwoods. We had a lovely, relaxing stay at Salmon Creek Ranch - the treehouse itself is beautifully done, and there are lovely walking trails to explore all around.

We loved the hipcamp treehouse stay. It was a perfect nature getaway. Driving distance to restaurants and amidst plentiful trail. Kids had a blast with campfire. Treehouse is ideal for 2 adults, we were 2, adults and 2 young kids which was tight for a night stay in terms of sleeping/, mattress space. We would love to go back !

I feel so lucky that we were able to host a policy advocacy retreat for outdoor industry members on John & Lesley's property. Lesley was so helpful and gracious! Beautiful place to camp and really respect Lesley for sharing her land with the mission to leave the land better than she found it. Thank you, John & Lesley! Highly recommend this Hipcamp site to anyone.

This treehouse was absolutely stunning! I stayed here with my girlfriend for her birthday and it was everything we were hoping it would be and more. The views from the treehouse are amazing and there are so many trails and areas to explore on the property. Within a 5 minute walk we were surrounded by giant redwoods. John & Lesley are wonderful hosts and it's very clear they went above and beyond to make this property an incredible experience. The treehouse itself was more spacious than I was expecting it to be, the bed is super comfortable, there's a fire pit area where we made dinner, and of course the spiral staircase and suspension bridge to get to the treehouse made it that much more special. 20/10 would absolutely stay here again!

The site is very well set up to accommodate families. We used Redwood 2 and 3. They are across a meadow from each other and the kids and friends had a blast at the site with a platform to pitch tents and string lights on. The parents were across the way at a site near the Redwood trails. Meadow was super fun to pitch our volleyball/badminton. The road down to the campsite was super challenging.

Mind blowing- awesome experience!
This tree house is incredible, unlike anything I've ever seen. It's beautiful- high up in the trees, with masterful woodwork and incredible views. The place was spotlessly clean, and perfectly maintained. The owners were friendly, and the local farm food made for an incredible breakfast. Very secluded, and peaceful, with lots of silence and privacy.
